I have similar problem with 9E. I can't hit anything with it. I hear the growl lock (replaced sound file) and I'm not pulling any g's. Sometimes missiles fly towards the targets but never hit them, more often they just fly straight ahead. Almost all of my kills are with Sparrow 7E (just few by cannon pod).

I've collided with a MiG-21 while flying F-4D. Sure, it was nicely destroyed but I've lost half of right wing and had to eject.

Well, that's nothing new. Recently, when I was flying A-10 CAS mission (WoE), I've seen a Bird Dog and heard similar radio calls. I can't say if the FAC was really marking the targets (too much smoke from burning tanks) . Anyway, I was really amazed.
