  1. Veltro2K: Sorry about that. You are credited with the Su-24 that was added in Update #1 (see the readMe in \OriginalReadMes). When I refresh this package, I'll add you to the credits for the Su-24M as well. Eric Howes
  2. Wrench: As noted earlier, I used your "Fishpot Series Cockpit & Ini Upgrade Pak." I'll take a look at the other one before the next full update or update refresh (whenever that might be). Eric Howes
  3. Wrench: They weren't switched back. The original NF4+ release included no canopy data for the Su-9B (the Su-11 wasn't included at all). In the second update package from Sep. 2010 (almost a year ago), the Su-11 was added and the Su-9 was overhauled. In both cases, data from your "Fishpot Series Cockpit & Ini Upgrade Pak" was used for the canopies: http://combatace.com...ni-upgrade-pak/ The canopy data for both aircraft is just as you had it in your upgrade pack: [Canopy] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_SPEED Setting[1].Angle=30.0 Setting[1].DeployValue=3.0 Setting[1].RetractValue=10.0 MaxDeflection=30.0 MinDeflection=0.0 ControlRate=0.50 AnimationID=7 //[Canopy] //SystemType=ARRESTOR_HOOK //MaxDeflection=80.0 //Retractable=TRUE //DeployTime=3.0 //ModelNodeName=CockpitFrame //AnimationID=7 //ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE If there is another upgrade pack where you did the canopy data differently, then I must have missed it. Eric Howes
  4. Wrench & SoDak1953: The correct data.ini is included in the April 2011 update. Given that you're on the Jul2011 Patch Level, you need to ensure that you've installed the files from the \Dec2009_Patch and \Dec2010_Patch directories in the April 2011 update package (that's in addition to the files from the \All_Patch_Levels directory). Eric Howes
  5. SoDak1953: What patch level are you on? Did you install just the files from the four main installation packages, or did you also install the April 2011 update for the Expansion Pack? Eric Howes
  6. firehawk66: You don't need to reinstall Strike Fighters 2. (I assume you're running SF2E, yes?) Just delete the Mods folder, generate a new one, then start reinstalling NF4+ with the updates. Eric Howes
  7. firehawk66: Yeah, it would appear that your installation has problems. And it also seems that you added some additional mods on your own (there is no F-14A Tomcat in NF4+). I would recommend starting from scratch and installing the updates one by one. Eric Howes
  8. Dave: I wouldn't read too much into that. I read the post as merely hypothetical -- that is, the new features in the F-14 game (whatever it will be called) will necessarily be limited because if he piled on a huge number of new features that took a great deal of time and resources to develop and implement, he'd eventually have to cancel the project. TK needs a steady source of revenue. That means he can't afford incredibly long delays in getting the F-14 game out the door. More features = more dev time = more release slippage = longer delay in realizing new revenue from the new game. I would expect there to be new features in the F-14 game, including the new terrain engine. But TK's introduction of new features has always been very evolutionary and incremental. That means the new features won't live up to the unrealistic expectations of some. If folks are expecting "DCS: F-14," they're going to be disappointed. If their expectations are more modest, then they won't. Eric Howes
  9. File Name: Tu-22M3 Backfire-C for SF2 File Submitter: eburger68 File Submitted: 26 July 2011 File Category: Other Tu-22M3 Backfire-C for SF2 This mod package contains the Tu-22M3 from HoneyFox/Insky Group, updated and converted to SF2 standards. Included are all the effects, weapons, sounds, pilots, and seats that you will need to install and use the aircraft in this package. This aircraft can be used in SF2, SF2E, SF2V, or SF2I. To install and use it, you should ensure that your SF2 installation is patched to at least the Dec2009 patch level. See below for installation instructions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ To install, simply drag the \Effects, \Flight, \Objects, and \Sounds folders to your SF2 Mods Folder (NOT the folder that the game installs to). By default your Mod Folder should be located here: Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\[Game]\ Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[Game]\ Windows 7: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[Game]\ ...where [username] is the account you log into within Windows and [Game] is the name of the particular game mod folder that you're moving the files to. If the aircraft is not showing up in your Single Mission Aircraft menu, then you didn't install all the bits correctly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Notes About This Mod ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In addition to doing the basic work to convert the aircraft for use in SF2, I also made a number of other fixes and additions. 1. Fixed non-working tailgun 2. Fixed incorrect Afterburner.tga reference 3. Added referenced B-1B sounds from B-1B Redux package 4. Added correct version of Kh-22 5. Added damage texture 6. 12. File Name: SF2 MiG-23 & MiG-27 Floggers - Part 1 File Submitter: eburger68 File Submitted: 21 July 2011 File Category: MiG-27 SF2 MiG-23 & MiG-27 Floggers - Part 1 This mod supplies a collection of MiG-23 & MiG-27 Floggers, created by ArmourDave and The Mirage Factory, and heavily modded by Lindr2 for SFP1. (These are not mods of the 3rdWire Floggers supplied in the SF2 titles.) All have been converted and updated to SF2 standards. Also included with this mod are all the weapons, sounds, pilots, and seats that you will need to install and use any of the aircraft supplied with this mod. This mod consists of three parts: Part 1: 1st Generation MiG-23s (MiG-23S, Mig-23M, MiG-23ME, MiG-23MF, MiG-23MF, MiG-23UB) Part 2: 2nd Generation MiG-23s (MiG-23ML, MiG-23MLA, MiG-23MLAE, MiG-23P, MiG-23PD, MiG-23-98, MiG-23UM) Part 3: Ground Attack MiG-23s (MiG-23B, MiG-23BN) & MiG-27s (MiG-27, MiG-27D, MiG-27K, MiG-27M, MiG-27ML) Each of the three parts includes all the decals, pilots, sounds, effects that you will need for the aircraft in that part. The WEAPONS are contained ONLY IN THE 2ND PART, which means that you MUST DOWNLOAD THE 2ND PART TO GET THE WEAPONS. These aircraft can be used in SF2, SF2E, SF2V, or SF2I. To install and use them, you should ensure that your SF2 installation is patched to at least the Dec2009 patch level. See below for installation instructions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please note that installation of these aircraft will overwrite & replace the default 3rdWire versions included in the various SF2 titles. I recommend that you first REMOVE the 3rdWire MiG-23 and MiG-27 versions - even if you haven't modded them -- before installing these alternate versions. To install, simply drag the following folders to your SF2 Mods Folder (NOT the folder that the game installs to): \Effects \Flight \Objects \Sounds By default your Mod Folder should be located here: Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\[Game]\ Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[Game]\ Windows 7: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[Game]\ ...where [username] is the account you log into within Windows and [Game] is the name of the particular game mod folder that you're moving the files to. If the aircraft are not showing up in your Single Mission Aircraft menu, then you didn't install all the bits correctly. And remember, the WEAPONS are contained ONLY IN THE 2ND PART, which means that you MUST DOWNLOAD THE 2ND PART TO GET THE WEAPONS. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aircraft & Nations Included ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The following aircraft are included in the three parts of this mod: Part 1: 1st Generation MiG-23s - MiG-23S Flogger-A (Early) - MiG-23S Flogger-A - MiG-23SM Flogger-A (obr.71) - MiG-23M Flogger-B (Ser. 1) - MiG-23M Flogger-B (Ser. 23) - MiG-23ME Flogger-B - MiG-23MF Flogger-B - MiG-23MF Flogger-B (Late) - MiG-23MF Rakshak - MiG-23MS Flogger-E - MiG-23UB Flogger-C (Early) - MiG-23UB Flogger-C Part 2: 2nd Generation MiG-23s - MiG-23ML Flogger-G (Early) - MiG-23ML Flogger-G - MiG-23MLA Flogger-G - MiG-23MLAE-A Flogger-G (32-22) - MiG-23MLAE-B Flogger-G - MiG-23MLD Flogger-K - MiG-23P Flogger-G - MiG-23PD Flogger-G - MiG-23UM Flogger-C - MiG-23-98 Flogger-K Part 3: Ground Attack MiG-23s & MiG-27s - MiG-23B Flogger-F (Early) - MiG-23B Flogger-F - MiG-23BN Flogger-H - MiG-23BN Flogger-H (Egypt) - MiG-23BN Flogger-H (Iraq) - MiG-23BN Vijay - MiG-27 Flogger-D - MiG-27D Flogger-J - MiG-27K Flogger-J2 (Early) - MiG-27K Flogger-J2 - MiG-27M Flogger-J - MiG-27ML Bahadur The following nations are represented: USSR Angola Bulgaria Ethiopia Czechoslovakia Egypt East Germany Iraq Hungary Libya Poland Syria Romania India Ukraine Sri Lanka Cuba Ivory Coast North Korea For more information on the differences between these various different versions, see the documentation included in \_OriginalReadMes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Few Notes About This Mod ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Those familiar with Lindr2's Flogger packages for SFP1 will rightly recognize that this updated mod builds on his earlier efforts. Although I have largely followed Lindr2's lead in assembling this package, there are some noteworthy differences between his SFP1 collections and this one: 1) Different Engine Sounds & Afterburner TGAs I have used different engine sounds and afterburner TGAs to give the various engines used by different models distinct sounds and appearances. 2) NATO Code Names The aircraft names do include the NATO code names, whereas Lindr2's SFP1 versions did not use them at all. Also, the Air-to-Air weapons use both NATO and Soviet names/designations (e.g., "R-73 AA-11 Archer"). 3) Wider range of Skins/Nations You will find a wider range of skins used to represent more nations, drawing on the various one-off skins that have been released by other modders. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Credits & Acknowledgements ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This package largely consists of work done by others and released previously in other packages. File Name: Swing-Wing Fitters for SF2 File Submitter: eburger68 File Submitted: 10 July 2011 File Category: Su-17 ---------------------------------------- SF2 Su-17/20/22 Swing-Wing Fitters ---------------------------------------- This mod package contains a collection of Su-17, Su-20, and Su-22 Fitters, all converted and updated to SF2 standards. Included in the package are all the weapons, sounds, pilots, and seats that you will need to install and use any of the aircraft in this package. These aircraft can be used in SF2, SF2E, SF2V, or SF2I. To install and use them, you should ensure that your SF2 installation is patched to at least the Dec2009 patch level. See below for installation instructions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ To install, simply drag the \Objects and \Sounds folders to your SF2 Mods Folder (NOT the folder that the game installs to). If the aircraft are not showing up in your Single Mission Aircraft menu, then you didn't install all the bits correctly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aircraft & Nations Included ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The following aircraft are included in this package: Domestic Version Export Version ---------------- -------------- Su-17 Fitter-B n/a Su-17M Fitter-C Su-20A/B Fitter-C Su-17M2 Fitter-D Su-22 Fitter-F Su-17M3 Fitter-H Su-22M / Su-22M3 Fitter-J Su-17M4 Fitter-K Su-22M4 Fitter-K The following nations are represented: USSR Afghanistan Bulgaria Egypt Czechoslovakia Iraq East Germany Libya Hungary Syria Poland Peru Vietnam For more information on the differences between these various different versions, see the documentation included in \_OriginalReadMes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Few Notes About This Package ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Those familiar with Lindr2's Fitter packages for SFP1 will rightly recognize that this updated package builds on his earlier efforts. Although I have largely followed Lindr2's lead in assembling this package, there are some noteworthy differences between his SFP1 collections and this one: 1) Limited use of AmokFloo's Su-17M model Where Lindr2 used AmokFloo's Su-17M (from 2008) to represent the -17, -17M, -17M2, -20A, -20B, and -22F, I have opted to use ArmourDave's earlier Su-17 model (from 2003) for the -20A, -20B, and -22F. Although AmokFloo's model is arguably better-suited in many ways to stand in for those early export versions, ArmourDave's model has a wider range of skins available to represent the various user nations of those aircraft. Sadly, there appear to be only three skins available for AmokFloo's model. If someone wants to do more skins for AmokFloo's model, I would be happy to release an updated version of this pack to make use of them. 2) Adjusted weapon stations and loadouts Again, I have largely followed Lindr2' lead in this area, but I have adjusted the attachment positions of some weapon stations (esp. on ArmourDave's Su-17 model) and made some changes to the default loadouts for most aircraft. In particular, the loadouts for center fuselage stations needed changes, because with size of the PTB-800 or Tank600_Su-7 drop tanks, there simply isn't enough room to load both tanks and weapons on the front and back fuselage stations. The default loadouts load weapons (rockets, bombs) on all four stations or tanks alone on the rear stations, but never a mix of weapons and tanks on front and rear. Note that the Loadout screen *will* let you load the fuselage stations with weapons and tanks simultaneously -- just don't do that. (And, if you do, don't complain to me about the unsightly result.) 3) Wider range of skins/nations You will find a wider range of skins used to represent more nations. I am not an expert on the operational history of the swing-wing Fitters. Still less am I a skilled texture artist, so I make no claim that these skins are 100% historically accurate in their depiction of these aircraft as used by so many different nations. I did consult online references and looked at quite a few photos while putting together this package, and I do think it represents a general improvement over what was available before. If you've got better data and/or better skins, please do share -- I'd be happy to do an updated, more accurate version of the package. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Credits & Acknowledgements ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This package largely consists of work done by others and released previously in other packages. All I did was assemble the package, update the bits to SF2 standards, and make minor adjustments and tweaks here and there (discussed above). ArmourDave ..................................... 17. Stingray77: If you can't select any third-party/non-stock aircraft to fly in campaigns, then something's wrong with your installation. I just checked the SF2V Expansion Pack on my system with the Jun2011 patch, and third-party aircraft are perfectly flyable in campaigns. The skins are another issue. It appears that TK has disabled the ability to change the skin, aircraft number, service, or unit (Squadron Markings) within the campaign (emphasis on WITHIN). To verify this, I selected the F-105D for a Rolling Thunder campaign, then selected the 12th TFS. The F-105D is a stock aircraft using all stock skins -- in other words it's not been modded much in the Expansion Pack, save for some Loadout customizations. Even with that aircraft and that unit, the Paint Scheme, Service Markings, Squadron Markings, and Aircraft Number are all greyed out. They can't be changed. So, it appears that if you want to use a custom skin that you added to your install in the campaign, you'll have to hack the Campaign_DATA.INI to point the unit at that skin. Eric Howes
  18. daddyairplanes: Thanks for the offer, but I think I've got the INI editing taken care of, including the squadronlist additions. I'm not a terrain guy, so if something's going to be done with the terrain, it'll have to be by someone else. I'd be happy to take a look at whatever you sent Dave, though. Eric Howes
  19. Daswan: If you're using May2011 or later, you'll have to unpack the custom menu .CAT into the \Menu directory of your Mods folder. The most recent patch levels aren't reading the older .CAT file format for some reason. Eric Howes
  20. Johan217: Sounds like the installer didn't install the proper files for the carriers in your case -- odd. As for the COMMDATA.INI and SOUNDLIST.INI changes, I am aware of them. We don't mod the COMMDATA.INI. The SOUNDLIST.INI changes are very minor, and they will be incorporated in a future update. Eric Howes

  22. File Name: SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Pack v2.0 - VPAF Add-on File Submitter: eburger68 File Submitted: 22 February 2011 File Category: User Made Campaigns ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SF2V Air & Ground Expansion Pack v. 2.1 - VPAF Add-On ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is an add-on package for the "Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam Air & Ground Expansion Pack v. 2.1" available at CombatAce. This add-on makes most major aircraft of the Vietnamese People's Air Force (VPAF) flyable with custom third-party cockpits and avionics. It also contains "Red" versions of the three main SF2V campaigns, allowing you to fly VPAF MiGs against opposing USAF, USN, & USMC aircraft. This add-on package is designed to be applied over the top of an existing installation of version 2.1 of the Expansion Pack with the latest update package applied. You can download the four main Expansion Pack files here: Part 1: http://combatace.com/files/file/10189-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-1/ Part 2: http://combatace.com/files/file/10190-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-2/ Part 3: http://combatace.com/files/file/10192-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-3/ Part 4: http://combatace.com/files/file/10193-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-gold-part-4/ The latest update package for the Expansion Pack can be found here: Jan. 2012 Update: http://combatace.com/files/file/10466-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-jan-2012-update/ You should have the latest updates for the Expansion Pack before applying this add-on package. Please take a look over the remainder of this ReadMe before installing the update. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The installation process has two phases: one for the main add-on files; a second for optional aircraft. Here's how to apply this update package: 1. Ensure that SF2V is properly installed & updated. 2. Ensure that the Expansion Pack v. 2.1 (Mar. 2010) is installed to your SF2V Mod Folder and that the latest update package for the Expansion Pack is applied. 3. Unpack SF2V_AG-XP_v2_VPAF.7z to a safe place on your drive. 4. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Mod_Folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted. 5. Now open the \Optional directory, which contains different versions of the MiG-17 and MiG-17PF. Note that what you install from the \Optional directory is determined by whether or not your SF2V installation also includes Strike Fighters 2: Europe (SF2E) as part of a "merged install." - MiG-17PF The original Expansion Pack supplies two different versions of the MiG-17PF. By default a third-party "mod" version was installed. Optionally, users with installations that included SF2E could replace the "mod" version with the stock 3rdWire version. The \Optional directory in this add-on package contains updated files for both versions. (Hint: the third-party "mod" version is identified in-game as the MiG-17PF Fresco-E; the stock 3rdWire verison is identified as the MiG-17PF Fresco-D.) Choose the version that you have installed, and apply the updated files for that version to the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted. - MiG-17 The original Expansion Pack supplies a substitute, optional version of the MiG-17 for those using installations that do not include SF2E. If you installed this optional/substitute version of the MiG-17 (because your install lacks SF2E), then apply the updated files for that version to the \Objects\Aircraft directory in your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted. (If your install includes SF2E, then you do not need to install the updates for the substitute version of the MiG-17, as you're using the original 3rdWire version available in SF2E.) That's it. You should be good to go. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What's Included ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This add-on package supplies the following updates for your SF2V Expansion Pack install: - cockpits and related files to make most VPAF fighters flyable - new engine sounds for VPAF MiGs - new Hangar & Loading screens for flyable MiGs - "Red" versions of the three main SF2V campaigns: 1. The American War (Rolling Thunder) 2. The Mad Man Nixon (Linebacker I) 3. Dien Bien Phu of the Air (Linebacker II) ~~~~~~~ Credits ~~~~~~~ This update contains new items from the following modders who generously allowed their use: Ordway............................original MiG-17 & MiG-19 cockpits Wrench............................Early MiG Series Cockpit Upgrade/Repair Package Paladrian.........................original MiG-21 cockpits ataribaby.........................MiG-21 Complete Pack for SF2 Raven.............................MiG-19S green cockpit update Spillone104.......................MiG engine sounds For a complete list of modders whose work is used in the complete Expansion Pack, see the ReadMe included in the original Expansion Pack. 24. NF4 issues?

Ah, I see it now. I had been assuming that this was along the same lines as the previous loadout issue he reported. I'll take a look at it. The solution might be to adjust the attachment positions. It also might be to add length restrictions on those stations. Eric Howes
