  1. Stary: Could you post the EnviromentSystem.INI that you're using? Also, just to confirm, you're patched to Jan2011, not Dec2010, yes? Thanks, Eric Howes
  2. Stary: No, the clouds and overcast layer were sufficiently separated that you saw that kind of ugliness only once in a very long while. Now it occurs with every mission flown with Overcast weather. Eric Howes
  3. Folks: Here's what I'm referring to as the "clouds/cloud layer" issue with Overcast weather. This is the "solution" to the "tree/clouds" issue. Eric Howes
  4. Yes, it does appear that Fubar is correct -- TK finally did what he threatened to do late last year. The result is that what started as a visual annoyance (the tree/clouds issue) has now spawned a "solution" from 3rdWire that utterly wrecks the sky/clouds environment in the SF2V Expansion Pack, which was one of the nicer features of that mod. The Overcast weather in particular looks like crap. Gone are the haze and low hanging clouds that gave that particular weather condition an ominous look and feel. It's been replaced with clouds bumping into the lower overcast layer in rather ugly fashion. So, instead of a "trees/clouds" issue, we now have a "clouds/cloud layer" issue. This is a non-solution. Eric Howes
  5. JD: I'm no expert on the logs in this game, about which there have been many discussions over the years. I do know that it is possible to get A/G kills without scoring direct hits when dropping bombs. Presumably the blast, if the bombs impact near enough to the target, will take it out. As for your other questions, I'll defer to others who spend more time than I going over mission logs -- I give them only a cursory examination in most cases. Eric Howes
  6. Heretic: I would suggest continuing to fly various campaigns and aircraft. If you encounter other anomalies or outright crashes, post the details here so that we can attempt to reproduce them. Maybe some detail will emerge that points to the culprit. Eric Howes
  7. Heretic: I just tried the '62 and '68 with the units you mention, and I simply cannot reproduce the behavior you're describing. The 613th TFS F-100D unit worked just fine -- no crashes. I also checked the .INIs, and there doen't appear to be any problem with the entries for that unit. I also tried the first selectable units in the '62 campaign for the USAF F-100A, the F-100C, and the F-100D. In each case I was assigned the correct USAF aircraft, not an RDAF version. Also, when playing a few campaign missions I notice plenty of friendly air units in the skies from various nationalities performing a variety of air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. Eric Howes
  8. Stingray77: The music works only with campaigns. As for the radar, I don't see anything wrong with it. Eric Howes
  9. Wodin: There are B-52 squadrons and they do work. If you haven't seen any it could be because there are simply so many U.S. air units that the game hasn't tasked you with any BUF escort missions. Eric Howes
  10. Wodin: The difficulty here is you're getting what appear to be random crashes with both terrains. There's really nothing much here for me to go on. Moreover, I haven't heard from anyone else with crashes such as you've described. Is there any common element to your crashes? Are you always flying the same aircraft? What about weather conditions? Single missions or campaigns? What I would suggest is a reinstall the base Expansion Pack (from teh four 7zip files). Don't apply any of the updates. Just fly with that for a day or so. Then start adding parts of the Feb. 2011 patch one by one. First, everything from the \Flight, \Menu, \Effects, \Sounds, and \PilotData folders. Then the terrain updates. Then the Weapon and Gun updates. Then the GroundObject updates. Then the Aircraft updates. Finally, the campaigns. After each partial update, play for a day or so to see if the crashes come back. What we're looking for is the point at which the crashing starts happening again. Eric Howes
  11. Wodin: Do you have the February 2011 update installed? That update fixes all CTDs that I know about. Eric Howes
  12. JJava: The easiest way to fix that problem is to simply remove the ability of tanks to fire at air targets. For each tank in \Objects\GroundObject, open the DATA.INI. Then under the sections DetectSystem & WeaponSystem, change TargetType=AIR_AND_GROUND to TargetType=GROUND. To restrict the tanks to firing at air targets only with their machineguns, we could implement Gunners, but that will take a little time and testing. Eric Howes
  13. Wodin: Check the ReadMe, which has instructions for adjusting the color of tracers to suit your preferences. Eric Howes
  14. Peter: Thanks, we'll see if we can figure it out. Looks like the target area simply needs to be repositioned slightly. If you see it again in a mission, please save the mission to disk and post it. Eric Howes
  15. Tazkiller: Glad you're enjoying it. Best, Eric Howes
  16. Tazkiller: The ReadMe says: "cockpits and related files to make most VPAF fighters flyable." As the player flies the J-6 in the Linebacker I campaign, I didn't make the MiG-19S or SF flyable. Eric Howes
  17. File Name: WOV Air & Ground War Expansion Pack Gold - VPAF Add-on File Submitter: eburger68 File Submitted: 22 February 2011 File Category: User Made Campaigns ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- WOV Air & Ground Expansion Pack v. 1.1 - VPAF Add-On ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is an add-on package for the "Wings Over Vietnam: Air & Ground Expansion Pack v. 1.1" available at CombatAce. This add-on makes most major aircraft of the Vietnamese People's Air Force (VPAF) flyable with custom third-party cockpits and avionics. It also contains "Red" versions of the three main WOV campaigns, allowing you to fly VPAF MiGs against opposing USAF, USN, & USMC aircraft. This add-on package is designed to be applied over the top of an existing installation of version 2.1 of the Expansion Pack with the latest update package applied. You can download the three main Expansion Pack files here: Part 1: http://combatace.com/files/file/10281-wov-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-gold-part-1/ Part 2: http://combatace.com/files/file/10282-wov-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-gold-part-2/ Part 3: http://combatace.com/files/file/10300-wov-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-gold-part-3/ The latest update package for the Expansion Pack can be found here: Feb. 2011 Update: http://combatace.com/files/file/10658-wov-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-gold-feb-2011-update/ You should have the latest updates for the Expansion Pack before applying this add-on package. Please take a look over the remainder of this ReadMe before installing the update. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The installation process has two phases: one for all patch levels; a second for the Aug. 2006 patch level. Here's how to apply this update package: 1. Ensure that WOV is properly installed and patched to either the 8.30.2006 or 10.20.2008 level. 2. Ensure that the Expansion Pack v. 1.1 (Mar. 2010) is installed to your WOV Installation Directory and that the latest update for the Expansion Pack is applied. 3. Unpack WOV_AG-XP_VPAF.7z to a safe place on your drive. 4. Open the \All_Patch_Levels directory. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Install_Dir to your WOV Install Dir, overwriting as prompted. If you are running WOV at the Oct. 2008 patch level, then your installation process is finished. If you are running at the Aug. 2006 patch level, then you have one last step. 5. If you are running the Aug. 2006 patch level, then open the \Aug_2006_Patch directory. Drag and drop all the files and folders from within the \To_Install_Dir to your WOV Install Dir, overwriting as prompted. That's it. You should be good to go. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What's Included ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This add-on package supplies the following updates for your WOV Expansion Pack install: - cockpits and related files to make most VPAF fighters flyable - new engine sounds for VPAF MiGs - new Hangar & Loading screens for flyable MiGs - "Red" versions of the three main WOV campaigns: 1. 18. Dedalus: Only on the MiG-21MF. I have read reports of some MiG-21s dumping flare during Linebacker, so I added them to the MiG-21MF, which starts in '71. Eric Howes
  19. Folks: Two new packages for the WOV & SF2V Expansion Packs are now available here at CombatAce: 1) Feb. 2011 Update Adds the F-4D LORAN, the B-26K Nimrod, a dozen or so new weapons, and includes some misc. updates. Steel Tiger & Easter Offensive campaigns have been updated to include the new aircraft. WOV Feb 2011 Update: http://combatace.com/topic/53706-wov-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-gold-feb-2011-update/ SF2V Feb 2011 Update: http://combatace.com/topic/52002-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-feb-2011-update/ 2) VPAF Add-on Makes all the main VPAF aircraft flyable and includes three "Red" campaigns: - The American War (Rolling Thunder) - The Mad Man Nixon (Linebacker I) - Dien Bien Phu of the Air (Linebacker II) WOV VPAF Add-on: http://combatace.com/topic/62959-wov-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-gold-vpaf-add-on/ SF2V VPAF Add-on: http://combatace.com/topic/62960-sf2v-air-ground-war-expansion-pack-v20-vpaf-add-on/ If you spot any bugs in either package, please post them here. Eric Howes
  20. Folks: The Feb 2011 Update is now released. Highlights include new aircraft(F-4D LORAN, B-26K Counter Invader) plus updated Steel Tiger and EasterOffensive campaigns. As always, see the ReadMe for a more detaileddecription of what's new and fixed. Eric Howes
  21. Folks: The Feb 2011 Update is now released. Highlights include new aircraft (F-4D LORAN, B-26K Counter Invader) plus updated Steel Tiger and Easter Offensive campaigns. As always, see the ReadMe for a more detailed decription of what's new and fixed. Eric Howes
  22. Devil11: Based on the information you've provided, about the only thing I can tell you is that there is something seriously wrong with your installation. I would recommend starting from scratch and doing a complete reinstall. During your reinstall, check to ensure that: 1) you are installing the WoV version of the mod, not the SF2V version; 2) that you have downloaded and are installing the content from all three install packages; 3) you have patched WoV to either the Aug.2006 or Oct.2008 level; 4) you install the proper files for your patch level of WoV (the ReadMe explains this in detail); 5) when you apply the latest update (Jan. 2011) for the mod itself, you are applying the update correctly so as not to end up with improperly nested directories. Eric Howes
  23. Folks: Hold on a minute. The TARGETS.INI fix that was released on Jan. 30 was for the SF2V version of the Expansion Pack, not the WOV version. We released that fix to correct crashes resulting from changes made to the SV campaigns that appeared once people installed Exp. Pack 2. None of those changes/fixes for the SV campaigns and terrain were implemented for the WOV version because there were no reports of problems with the WOV version (no new patches from TK to cause them). Devil11, where/when are you getting the crashes? In campaigns or single missions? At what point does it crash? What error messages if any do you see? Eric Howes
  24. Danwatto: There are no pink tracers in the Expansion Pack. Purple, red, green, and orange, but not pink. If you prefer to change the colors, check the ReadMe -- you'll find instructions on how to do so. Best, Eric Howes
  25. Folks: Attached are updated campaign files to address the campaign issues that ojcar raised. Eric Howes
