Richard: You asked: It is possible. You would need to skip installing the following files: - VIETNAMSEA_DATA.INI - Vietnam*.BMP - Vietnam*.TGA - Vietnam*.TOD - VIETNAMSEA.TFD - VIETNAMSEA.HFD - paddy_new.tga - jungle.tga - paddy.tga Some of those target areas are going to look completely out of place, though, because they were constructed to fit the particular textures used in Brain32's and Stary's re-painted tiles. Fubar512: You wrote: The ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI in the Expansion Pack already uses mipmapping for the CloudMaterial and CloudLayerMaterial, yet the problem persists. Richard, at this point I have tried various different changes to the ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI Cloud materials and the VIETNAMSEADATA.INI AlphaObjectTextureMaterial with no satisfactory results. Someone with a better working knowledge of the graphics engine in SF2V and the changes made in this latest patch is going to have to take a crack at it. In the mean time, I have attached an updated ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI that uses the new shaders introduced with SF2I. I doubt this version of the file (which goes in the \Flight dir of your SF2V mod folder) will solve the problem at hand for you, but at least you'll be using the correct shaders. Eric L. Howes

Stingray77: No, it wasn't like that before the patch -- at least not with the SF2V Expansion Pack. This is just the kind of problem that I suspected might crop up with this new patch, as TK has made lots of changes to the game's graphics engine recently. Unfortunately, I don't have a fix for this. Richard: I assume this is the SF2V Expansion Pack on an SF2V install. Is this a merged install? If so, what other SF2 games do you have installed (SF2, SF2E, SF2I)? Also, what patch level are you at? Did you install the just-released Dec 2009 patch? FWIW, we didn't make any changes to the the A-4 or A-7 decals in the Dec 3rd Tiles Update package. Before that we had no reports of any issues with those aircraft -- and that's with hundreds of downloads and installs. So, I'm trying to figure out what's new and unique or different with this particular install. Eric L. Howes

Stingray77: In the \Optional folder of the latest Expansion Pack (the 7-zipped version), there's an SF2I folder with a For_SF2I.zip inside. Unpack that ZIP, then apply the contents to your SF2V Mod Folder. That should solve some of the problems that you're seeing (not the ENBSeries issues, though). Eric Howes

Folks: The Final (Gold) Release of the WOV Expansion Pack is now available for download -- see the File Announcements section. It includes all the items from the beta version plus the "Aircraft Supplement" package that was subsequently released for the beta. It also includes a few last fixes for various items plus six new aircraft not included in the original beta: + EB-66C Destroyer + KA-3B Tanker + KA-6D Tanker + KC-130F Tanker + KC-135A Stratotanker + RB-66C Destroyer Best, Eric Howes

Stingray77: I have not had the time to test this patch with the Expansion Pack, and it will be some time before I do. If you want to apply it anyway, then you should rename your Mod Folder, apply the patch, and run the game at least once to let the game create its own Mod Folder. Then move or rename game-created Mod Folder (for future reference) and rename your original Mod Folder back to the original. The only way to revert to your prepatch setup is to make a backup of your SF2 install dir before applying the patch. Eric Howes

Hi All: I've put together a table summarizing the main mission types in the Strike Fighters series as well as the main components or features of those missions types. See the attached ZIP, which contains the table in HTML form. I put this table summary together thinking that it might help those who are just getting into building their own user-scripted missions for the Gen 1 or Gen 2 series. Please keep in mind that this is a draft, so errors may exist. Comments and corrections are welcome, esp. from those who have extensive experience building missions for the Strike Fighters series. X RAY: Check the SF2V Expansion Pack, which includes SF2 ports of those gunships. We elected to go with a TV camera in the cockpit to allow players to view the effects of their gunfire. I also spent quite a bit of time reworking the muzzle flash positions on the Spectres so that they lined up correctly with the gun muzzles. Eric L. Howes

Stingray77: By default all the F-4s use the custom J-79 exhaust emitter, which is what I referred to as a "heavy" exhaust emitter. That custom emitter has a performance impact on some systems, so that \Optional directory contains an alternate DATA.INI for each F-4 that uses the standard 3rd Wire "dirty" exhaust emitter. All that F-4E Rivet Haste alternate DATA.INI does is provide the same kind of alternate DATA.INI that already exists for every other F-4 in the main Expansion Pack Gold Release. If you like the default exhaust on the F-4s, then stick with them. Eric Howes

View File SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Pack v2.0 - Terrain Update ------------------------------------------ SF2V A&G Expansion Pack: New Terrain Items for Older Expansion Pack Installations ------------------------------------------ This package contains an updated set of terrain files for users of the SF2V Expansion Pack who installed the original Expansion Pack distribution from November 2009 and all the subsequent updates through the "Feb. 2010 Refresh." It was created to bring older Expansion Pack installations current with the "updated" Expansion Pack files that were released early March 2010 without forcing users to download the complete set of "updated" installation files. - If you downloaded and installed the Nov. 2009 version of the Expansion Pack and installed the "Terrain Tiles Update" as well as the "Feb. 2010 Refresh," then this update package is for you. - If you downloaded and installed the Nov. 2009 version of the Expansion Pack but did NOT install both the "Terrain Tiles Update" and "Feb. 2010 Refresh," then you can upgrade to the most current version of the Expansion Pack *only* by downloading the complete, updated set of installation files. You can find the four part set of updated Expansion Pack installation files here: Part 1: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10189 Part 2: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10190 Part 3: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10192 Part 4: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10193 - If you downloaded and installed the SF2V Expansion Pack on or after 3 March 2010, then this update package is NOT for you -- the "updated" Expansion Pack files from March 2010 already contain all the files from this update. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ To install this update, simply copy the contents of the \To_Mod_Folder directory to your SF2V Mod Folder. In other words, drag and drop the \Terrains folder to your SF2V Mod Folder, overwriting as prompted. That's it. Paul: Regarding the UH-1H, I think what we may do is include it as an optional item (not installed by default) for folks who want to play your missions. There will be something in the ReadMe that states that it is completely unsupported outside of the missions you supply. Statics: I have a collection of statics that I can guarantee won't cause any problems. And the collection goes beyond just the F-4B and F-100D. Let me know if you're interested. Weapons: why not test your missions with the Weapons folder, WeaponData.ini, and GunData.ini from the Expansion Pack. If you need anything added, just let me know. Eric Howes
