New A-4N conversion kits
wilco posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I thought about the A-4N (Early) conversion kit that I uploaded yesterday and came to the conclusion that it is... eh... 'far from being perfect'. To be honest, I have no idea why I used that old F model for a WOI only mod, when we have the H model already in game. Though the H is still not the M, it has almost everything we need: brake chute housing, fancy fairings and antennas, a correctly shaped vertical stabilizer and - not to forget - the hump. Now you might ask why I didn't use it in the first place. Here's your answer: It was the straight refueling probe, sticking out the fuselage like a lance. I just could'nt stand it. Guess what? Problem solved! I'll try to add a new probe, but I can't promise that it'll be ready in a few days, so please be patient. BTW, it seems that you can get rid of the tailpipe the same way, so I'll create a new early A-4N, too. -

Agreed, that's certainly not legal, as you're getting no license:

New A-4N conversion kits

Thanks FastCargo, that sure did help! Nevertheless I used SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE, so you don't have to deploy the airbrakes (as seen in WDH's first pic). -

New A-4N conversion kits
wilco replied to wilco's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
WDH, thanks for those pics! You confused me with the last one, since I always thought the early Ns had no tailpipe at all (like the M). Well, nevermind, it seems that I can't hide the tailpipe anyway. I already tried to reactivate the spoilers, but came across a problem: Though both meshes are present, they won't work like on the stock F model (WOI). When using SystemType=AIRBRAKE they won't deploy, whereas using SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE (as in Wrench's A-4AR) will cause the left spoiler to deploy correctly while the right one deploys downwards. Any suggestions? A-4N (Early) Conversion Kit
wilco posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: A-4N (Early) Conversion Kit File Submitter: wilco File Submitted: 23 Nov 2008 File Category: A-4 A-4N Ahit (Early) for WoI: This conversion kit for Wrenchs's A-4AR allows you to create an early A-4N (without the extended tailpipe). INSTALLATION: If you already have the A-4AR installed, you're free to skip steps 1 and 2. (1) Download Wrench's A-4AR (http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=7012) (2) Install the aircraft. If necessary: Read the readme. (3) Rename the A-4AR folder to A-4N. Optional: Make a copy of your A-4AR folder and rename it. (4) Now delete all ini files, bmps and the skin folder. LODs, TGAs and the cockpit folder stay where they are. (5) Copy the content from the A-4N folder provided in this archive to the one you just have created OR simply move the A-4N folder from the archive to your aircraft folder. (6) Go fly and don't blame me for any inaccuracies. ;) KNOWN ISSUES: Though the real life A-4N is based on the M model, this mod uses the F model, so you have to live with the following issues: -wrong shape of the vertical stabilizer -wrong shape of canopy and windscreen -missing fairings and antennas -30mm DEFA autocannons mounted in the wing root (might be adressed in a future update) Please note that this mod is for WOI only, since the skin uses some stock decals. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: Thanks to TK for WoI and all the other great games. Special thanks to Wrench for creating the A-4AR. All I did was renaming and tweaking the inis and the skin, so credit where credit is due. Enjoy! wilco Released under the CombatAce Fair-Use License. You should read the article on 'sanctimonious hypocritical preachings by the (iliterate) imperials', that's even more funny, though I'm disappointed that Pravda copied that one from a blog. They should have come up with that themselves.

Target Illuminating Flares

Hm, what about a rocket pod like the LAU-10? Mounted reversed you could shoot the flares - just like illuminated rockets with zero velocity - backwards. -
FRAPS, Vista, and WOI
wilco replied to DWCAce's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, kinda, since I'm using XP: All my screenies in the WOI screenshots folder are outright black; however, those in the Fraps folder show what I wanted to capture. Haven't recorded a video, so I might test that, too. Edit: Video capture works fine.
