Two Data.ini files for Wrench's MC-205 (Egypt)

I'm testing it out now. So far, I'm liking it. -
Clouds
ShrikeHawk replied to ramrod5278's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
If you're getting big squares instead of clouds then I suspect you're dealing with a corrupted file or even a missing file. I just downloaded Cloudscape v2, for instance and loaded it into WoE. Everything comes out okay. Maybe try downloading again. Then be certain environmentsystem.ini is in the Flight folder along with, at least, a cloud image named cloud1.tga -

Missing WW2 enemies in SF2
ShrikeHawk posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
I'm trying to find a good fight for my FW-190 in SF2. It's got lots of planes to play with in Single Mission - Fighter Sweep. My P-51D has the nation changed to USAF. There's another Mustang in there for the USAF. A P-38L (USAF) and the assorted Spitfires from the Israeli expansion. The only plane that came up to fight is the Israeli Mosquito VI. If I cut that out, all I get on Sweeps is "Mission Accomplished!" at mission start. I have the Nations.ini installed which includes Nazi Germany. I even added updated <aircraft>_userlist.ini for the focke-wulf and the mustang. Strangely, if I set the mission for Intercept, the Ju-87 comes out, but that's the only plane that comes up to fight! What's going wrong here? -
Missing WW2 enemies in SF2
ShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
GOT IT! Whew! That was a serious b**ch. Finally got this to work. Kevin - I installed your nations.ini. It didn't help but your copy is more up-to-date than mine, so thanks for that. I'll use yours in future installs. And, sorry to be the cause of frustration. I checked the Tunisia_Nations.ini. It includes "Nazi_Germany" as it should so I stopped looking at it. But later I compared it to IsraelME_Nations.ini and realized they use a completely different format. The old Tunisia_nations.ini looks like this... So I updated it to match the format I found in the IsraelME_nations.ini. So now the Tunisia_nations.ini looks like this... With this change, planes assigned to "Nazi Germany" finally show up to fight. I realize that some installs may not need that change. I'm not sure why I need to try something different. I'm just glad it's working! Thanks Kevin, Baltika, and Cocas for offering suggestions. It ALWAYS helps! p.s. Kevin - Thanks for the Formations update. -
Missing WW2 enemies in SF2
ShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
This is happening over all terrains. Altough I was flying over Tunisia when I realized this. It includes Nazi Germany (as ENEMY) and the USAF (as FRIENDLY). My installed nations.ini is also set the same way. I don't think this is a nations problem, like I first thought. I tried setting the FW-190 to Egypt and the P-51D to Israel as fits my WoI2 install. Still no combat. Something else is amiss... -
Tunisia in SF2
ShrikeHawk posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
So I've taken the SF1 terrain, Tunisia, and I'm trying to make it work in SF2. I went through Wrench's guidelines for converting SF1 terrains to SF2. I guessed what I'm seeing is the pointer isn't pointing to the correct GermanyCE.cat file. So, I moved my .cat file all over the place and tried all sorts of paths to the .cat file including an absolute one starting from c:\ No matter what I try, I'm seeing this...how do I fix it? -
Tunisia in SF2
ShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
Ha! Turns out that it wasn't the Tunisia_data.ini at all. I used yours, Wrench and got the same result. I remembered that I replaced my regular flightengine.ini file for the BoB terrain. Luckily I...Backed Up My Originals...and replaced my default flightengine.ini and got a much better result. Still, my Tunisia looks much different from yours. Is that because I'm pointing at GermanyCE.cat instead of the desert one? In any event, this still looks terrific. -
Seems a little more dangerous than "noodling" for catfish.

Any WW2 campaigns for SF2?

Any WW2 campaigns for SF2?
ShrikeHawk replied to SopmodMikeFour's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
So are we looking at a planeset for BOB or the Ardennes? If BOB, it looks like a Hurrincane Mk I is needed. I know where a Hurricane can be found but wouldn't DAT models be off limits? If Ardennes, I already have Wolf's P-38, P-47, and FW-190. I could get crackin' on those now. Lastly, it seems like SF2:E will be the sim of choice, yes? I only have SF2 Vietnam and Israel, but that shouldn't be an issue for developing FMs I guess, right? -

Nice going, Hero ( I mean that seriously). Glad you were on the ball.

In anticipation for maybe a SF2 Props Thread
ShrikeHawk replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
How hard is it to convert a plane from SF1 to SF2? I have a couple Hurricanes, Tempest. and a MC.205 from SF1 that I installed in SF2:Israel. They needed a number of tweeks to loadouts and the FMs needed adjustments ( the Tempest waaay outperformed the Jets) but it was all doable. Is there some other aspect of the conversion that gets more technical? -

I was just about to ask if anyone was working on a prop campaign for SF2. So "Is" anyone working on one? Flying the Spits over the gorgeous addon terrain for Israel is just sheer joy. Maybe a WW2 Libyan campaign is coming...? -

Very Cool to see that. I always have a soft spot for dogs.

In my PTO install (Solomons) I have an A6M5 and a Ki-61 which end up with no ammo when the mission starts. All the AI wingmen immediately report they're out of ammo and of course, my guns won't fire. The F4U and F6F fire their guns just fine. So the problem is with the specific planes. So how can I get the guns fully loaded with ammo on these planes? Sorry if this is in the knowledge base somewhere. I looked but didn't see an answer.

No Ammo in Guns
ShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
Guys, I figured it out. The clue is right there in the ww2 weapons pak readme. Gundata needs to be in the main Objects folder. I had it in the Weapons Folder. I guess there's a reason Kevin keeps mentioning the readme. Guns are firing just fine now. Thanks for the help, both of you! -
No Ammo in Guns
ShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
I'm pretty sure it's installed. I found this readme in the weapons folder, "ww2_wep-pak_readme.txt". I always keep the readme's wherever I do an install. Also, the weapons folder contains a folder named, "Gundata_stuff" so it looks like I installed it. The InternalGuns listed for each airplane in their <plane>_data.ini are found in gundata.ini. I'm not sure what's missing. Is it possibly a Nations issue? -
No Ammo in Guns
ShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
Yeah I checked that. The A6M5, for instance uses "GunTypeName=20MM_TYPE99-2" and "GunTypeName=7.7MM_TYPE89F". Both are in GUNDATA.ini. I made this a long time ago so I'm not sure if I used the gun installer or not. But if I didn't, wouldn't the US guns fail to fire as well? EDIT: Just for the heck of it, I used the gun installer again. No change. Thanks Cocas. Any other ideas? -

Any Ideas about no jet engine sounds in the cockpit fellas? This is happening in both my SF2:V and SF2:I. Please help...anyone.
