3D Construction
ShrikeHawk replied to Constellation1710's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Yeah if Blender had an exporter I'd jump straight in to the 3D-modeling biz. I'd happily contribute to a pool to pay TK for an exporter. -

I had to look up "Israel Baharav." Very cool. Thanks for that. I learned the "Let Him Pass" from watching interviews with Ron Ronen and Giora Epstein in an episode of the History Channel's Dogfights. Since then, I've tried it in everything from Se.5s to F-18s. It really works well. I love the way they explain how and why the pilots do everything in Dogfights. I learned a lot that is applicable in the sim. I thought adding notes would be fun and useful, just like in Dogfights. It would be cool if video posters did that. Perhaps tactics for battling Hunters can be devised? I'm off to go after some Hunters now. Hopefully, I'll survive. ;) -

Been a while since I've been in the Mirage too. Crusader's Delta-Wing Mirage thread got me thinking about it. Here's a vid with something I'm trying out: Notes! -

Nice! The Hunter is a really tough opponent. Great flying. I especially love the sweeping attacks you made on the last Hunter. That's just what the doctor ordered. -

Yeah it did come from DAT. I thought Wolf made the original model. Anyhoo. I thought it was time it needed new skins. -

Fantastic. My China install is looking upon it hungrily.

Automatic Carrier Missions
ShrikeHawk posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
In the stock SF2 Vietnam game, any carrier-capable plane is automatically assigned to a carrier in "Single Mission." You do a CAP and at mission end you need to land on the carrier. In this China terrain, I want it to work the same way. I've set NavalMap=True. I edited the water map with green (carrier operating?) areas. There's carriers in the groundobject folder for the right nation. What else do I need to do? -
Automatic Carrier Missions

Haha! A pretty neat trick to be sure. An aircraft carrier that goes literally anywhere. Any chance this is related to the frontline I see on the planning map? Maybe if that was moved? -
Automatic Carrier Missions

Woops, hang on. Unfortunately, the ships are not spawning out at sea. How do I fix this? Kinda cool-looking, but I'd rather avoid it: Current Water Map looks like this. Here's a shot of a mission planning map. Is the issue related to red Frontline? -

I added the other color for opposing units. I had also updated ship's DATA.ini files for older years than 1941. Turns out I had to update the dates in the ship names list as well. This is working the way I want now. Thanks for the assist! -
Automatic Carrier Missions
ShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Well, this is China 1937. Chiang Kai-Shek is still in charge, so no PLAN exists yet. There's no real need for Chinese vessels to spawn. Still, if I wanted to create an operating area for an opposing side, how would I indicate that on the map? I used the Vietnam map below as my template. I only see green CV areas. -

Map looks like this right now. Is this right? -
Is there a quick way to display TAS during a flight? Perhaps a debug mode or something like that? If nothing else, perhaps an html page with reasonably accurate IAS to TAS converter?

FAA enforcement of the drone regulations.....

In this case does "FAA" mean "Falconer's Anti-aircraft Association?" -

Sick isn't it? And would you believe, I toned that turning ability down on some of these. Oh, and here's another vid from 1937 (in technicolor!) -
