  1. Saganuay, you seem to know about these things. can you confirm my assumption that heading is in degrees with 0 bieng north?.
  2. OK this app is coming along nicely. I'm getting the UI sorted out and will soon be onto the guts of it... ie making target areas and the interface for that. One slight delay could be if I have to try and find the sizes for things myself. Is there anyone who would be willing to maybe compile a list of object sizes (even if only roughly for now) to save me having to do this myself. To start with even if it was just the WOV objects it would be a help and would potentially speed up the production of this app. complex items like runways to start with would have to be simplified to a rectangle. Eventually I would like to be able to read in the LOD's to get exact coordinates which would dramatically improve the usability for making airfield areas.
  3. yeah thanks... not too much help though... i did ask over at the thirdwire forums and the most helpfull suggestion TK could come up with is find the size by hand and make a list. Not exactly something to inspire me.
  4. ok making some progress here. Does anyone know of any info on the LOD file format or has anyone ever made an LOD viewer?.
  5. I don't have sfp1 but in wov/woe there is a target indicator in the radar. Once you have locked onto your target you get the vertical band . You also get a target indicator dot. In the center of the radar display there are 2 rings a larger one which indicates the radar gimbal limits or the radar footprint limits and a much smaller one which indicates the radar center. All you have to do is keep the target dot inside the outer ring and preferably inside or close to the inner ring. Once you do your aircraft is pointed at the target.
  6. working on it... currently working on the user interface and reading the files.
  7. Google Earth Data

what you can do is in the google earth settings you can up the size of the cache. if you allow a big enough cache and look at the areas you are travelling to you can go back and refer to them offline.
  8. Yeah i noticed that last night when i was looking through the files. Can you clarify something please. in the target info are the offsets the same orientation as for the map. ie is the bottom left corner -x,-y and upper right is +x,+y
  9. Only trouble with directly reading from the planning map would be the need to know what sized area it represents. what does the UseGroundObject do and why would it be set to false if the baaracks is a ground object?.
  10. OK so a user setable area with a setable grid. I can't see too many problems with that. Does the types.ini contain any info about the size of the items?.
  11. OK that sounds very do-able. What sort of sized area would the grid need to cover?. Its possible that I could get it to export straight into the targets.ini file (provided its not in the .cat file) what is the unit of measure that the offset is using?.
  12. As posted in another thread I'd be interested in making the WOE / WOV terrains the correct size. Is anyone interested in this project. I can do the programming side of things and also do some of the other stuff but would rather not have to do everything. Some questions pop up straight away. 1). the coordinates for objects appear to be listed in km. Where is the origin ie which corner is 0,0 2). what is the max x and y values for the objects. 3). Are there any other files apart from the targets.ini file that would need to be altered. 4). Where is the scaling generated. I realise that you can alter the scaling when importing into TE but does it then do any further scaling. what I can do (potentially very easily) is write a program that would take the coordinates from the targets.ini and apply a scaling factor to them. Is there anything more complex it would need to do?.
  13. Not quite sure I'm with you here. I'm fairly new to WOV/WOE and am not sure what you are talking about here. I'm more than willing to write some programs but will probably need to ask some (potentially dumb) questions to achieve the goals. I don't want to hijack graysons thread here but If I write a program to alter the positions of objects would someone else be willing to help with the resizing of the actual map?. I will start a new thread to avoid hijacking this one further.
  14. I'd cheat and write a program to do it for me.
  15. Working on this myself. I'm working in a GIS program rectifying the VietnamSEA_map2 bmp with the real world data. My intention is to make a VERY large reference map for use in KMD from period topo maps which can be DL off the net. Its gonna take some work as there are lots of them and the rectification of them takes a while. One thing I'd like to see and wonder if its possible would be to resize the Vietnam terrain to real size and have some way of altering the values in the target file so that it works with the true sized terrain.
