This updates the Iran Iraq campaign for SF1 to the latest patches: SP051506a and P083006. Both patches can be found at the Thirdwire site www.thirdwire.com simply place into your fully patched and installed Iran Iraq folder. If you do not have the Iran Iraq War all inclusive mod installed: 1. You must have a seperate SF1 installation for this campaign. 2. Make sure you patch the SF1 install to the latest released patches mentioned above. 3. Then install the all inclusive Iran Iraq campaign (102 MB file) found at www.combatace.com ( follow installation instructions carefully including the seperate F-14a(IAF) and MIg-25PD install) 4. Install the latest weapons pack. 5. Then install this quick update. Enjoy! MK2 I include the original Iran Iraq War read me file below: This campaign is based on the Iran Iraq war that lasted from 1980-1988. It includes New terrain,, Persian music, photos, new screens, new sound files, new planes, new skins, and campaign files, heavily researched air units for Iran Iraq, historical air bases and locations. This needs to be a separate install. STEP 1 Please make sure your sf1 game installation follows this path (or the medals will not work): C:\IranIraq\Strike Fighters\Flight etc. OR You may go into the MedalsIRAQ.ini AND MedalIran.ini files (located in the "flight" folder of this zip) and change the path if you so desire (AS AN Example ADDING d:\ drive instead of C:\ ). STEP 2 Please install the contents of the folders to their respective locations (not the folders themselves but what is located inside). STEP 3 You must have the following additional planes(and weapons pack) installed. Mig-25PD F-14a(iaf) Latest Weapons pack (can be found at www.combatace.com) There is also an optional skin pack that adds even more skins to the Iraqi side created by Phamtuan called : Phamtuan_Skinpack_Iraq that can be used to enhance the game. it may be found at wwww.combatace.com Step 4 Go to the terrain folder in your SF1 directory. Locate the desert folder. Locate the Desert cat file. Copy file over into the IR folder located in the terrain folder (if you followed the instructions outlined above). Rename the Desert cat file in your IR folder from : Desert to : IR IMPORTANT NOTES***** #1 There is a known issue while flying from some of the bases that will occur when there is a heavily overcast day with low cloud cover. You will not see the runway due to the clouds, your plane will be positioned above them on the runway. You may take off as normal and it does not affect game play. This is a visual glitch probably due to the terrain elevations and it is relatively rare. #2 In order to properly simulate a protracted ground war (after all this war ended in a stalemate after 8 years!) we have frozen the ground offensives and they will not start for approximately 9 months of game time. If you play the entire campaign through, it will start before the campaign ends. This method is probably more historical. If you would like to change this setting, it is very easy to do. You need to open the IranIraq_data.ini file and find the following file: StartGroundOffensive=270 For both Force 1 (Iran) and Force 2 (Iraq) you may then change the value. Be warned that changing these settings may result in strange results (the war ending after several months as an example). Credit for this campaign goes to: USAFMTL: Project lead & Terrain MK2 : Project Coordinator, Campaign files, Music , Pilot Photos, hangar sound files Kouts: excellent Main screen and in game screens Sundowner: skins for the F-5A, Mirage, F-14A and the F-4D and E Sony Tuckson: Mirage skins Charles Gunst: Medals Bpao: Mirage, F-5A and F-14A aircraft (needs download). This is a marvelous skin pack for the Iran Iraq campaign. Phamtuan's skins are already featured in the Iran Iraq main campaign download. These are additional skins he created. Highly recommended even if you do not have the Iran Iraq campaign. Skins for the MIG-21MF, MIG-23M, TU-16 and TU-22 -

Very Very Sad News

How profoundly sad. A true modding legend. RIP -
Panama, the title of the thread is Sient Hunter 4, 1.5 is the latest official patch (adds Uboat campaign etc). Sorry about the confusion. Here ares some screens from my latest patrol

I am starting a Dawn Patrol (TSR game) campaign game with my game group and the pictures below show the culmination of about 12 months of preparation: 1. Purchasing 1/144 WW1 air planes (and WW2 but those are not ready yet) painting them and having them painted. 2. Creating hand painted 8 X 4 air war board. 3. Created custom stands from scratch, bases, tubing, magnets, clips etc. 4. Plexiglass hand etched and inked to duplicate squares on dawn Patrol board (this 8X4 board is actually larger , has more squares, than the original regulation board but not by much). Enjoy the pictures! Original board being recreated at 8 X 4

That is awesome!

if you get IL2 1946 please look into EnjoyR's mega patch, that adds an incredible amount of campaigns and even other nations you can fly (complete with accurate languages in the cockpit) etc. It combines a hundred diufferent mods into one massive install that works flawlessly. It really turns a great game into a super legendary one.

I think a museum exhibit would be great , I am currently working on getting my sons involved because that would be a natural progression to the collection's legacy. -

I recently aquired this from the family of Frank Luke . It is his perosnal map that he used to navigate to his squadron upon landing in Europe. He has signed it twice. This map can also be seen in the book "The Stand" . It does not get rarer than this and would be the cornerstone of any museum quality collection. Other stuff in my collection I finally got around to scannning (much more to come): Hartmut Baldamus 18 victories killed in mid air collision with Nieuport 17. -
I fly Americans but was waiting to survive a longer career, I have a 7 kill ace right now that I will post. He is the one that got the CMH award but have not wanted to use him and get him killed.

French 'ACE' gives our fliers advice ...
MK2 replied to Womenfly2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Great article. Thank you so much for posting it. His personality aside he might have been the greatest Ace ever IMHO. OVS, I think he meant that he knew which mechanics were the best. That is what he meant by knowing the entire "outfit". I think he was giving credit to them but I could be wrong. -
Nice post, tell you what PM your address, I am sending off a present to you...enjoy the read...

Turn it around and see if you see the indentation of the pen and or ink seeping through. Hold it up in brigh lights and look for regular indentantations a pen makes on the signed side. If it is smooth and clear as glass, then it's probably a reprint. Can the armory give you the info? Also the amount you paid might be a clue or if there are other identical ones for sale etc

To sum up your post: You do not think Luke is a hero (your opinion, not shared by many, many Americans ...again including top aces like Eddie Rickenbacker, the Generals who were there and saw the inspiration he provided and I ahh...I dunno maybe the people who named an AIR FORCE BASE after him) You read some books on Luke (No idea which ones because the ones I have read recently both the Stand and Terror of the Autumn skies are full of facts). Your still wrong about his confirmations, no matter what you read on the internet. You think Lufberry deserves credit (I am not even sure what you mean since he has an aerial move named after him! Is a legend and a hero and plenty has been written about him, countless books dealing with the Lafayette escadrille). Maybe you should write a book about Turner! Stephen spent 15 years of his life writing whatever he wants to write! Oh and last but not least...its' mind boggling he is ranked 9th , after all he only had 2 1/2 weeks to do it!!! There is really no where else to go with this discussion. I encourage you to read the stand as I am fairly certain if you do you might change your opions on the subject.
-
OVs wow...I have to strongly disagree with your statements. I respectfully have to say you really do not know what you are talking about as far as his confirmations. Most of his kills were confirmed by signed affidavits. He often flew with Whener his trusted wingman and when he did get a a kill alone, he landed near freindly troops and got signed affidavits. When he socred a kill alone the first time it was not confirmed.....and that was it. Luke went through great trouble including landing at balloon batteries in order to get the confirmations and driving out to the wreck of the planes he brought down. I am not sure where you are getting your history on Luke but it is waaaaaaay off base. Luke had 18 kills , most in just a 17 day stretch, is an American hero and very much worth talking about. A brave flyer whom Eddie Rickenbacker called the best fighter pilot America had (I think Rickenbacker knows more than you or I when it comes to this subject, since he flew out of the same aerodrome he did and knew him personally and had 26 kills himself!!!) The book is amazing, worth every penny and a great read and Luke was a hero worth all the accolades. As far as the other comment which I take some exception to that Luke was not "a hero at all". I suggest you read up and find out how important Luke was to morale and how he set the pace for Balloon busting and the effects that had on the ground war being fought before you dismiss him as a hero. I know members of the Luke family. I know Stephen Skinner the author I have hundreds of books on aces and rank this as one of the best I have ever read. Stephen spent 15 years of his life uncovering new facts , it's his life's work and a masterpiece.

All right everyone please join me in congratulating the winner of the very first Combatace OFF skinning contest: Fubar45 His amazing Se5a of Lt A P F Rhys Davids of 56 Sqn was the winner.
