  1. Looking forward it has great visibility compared to the SPAD but as I mentioned backwards not so good. This is mitigated by the plane being ridicoulously stable while firing.
  2. The skins look great...good job everyone!
  3. This is way to easy

Turn on lables , the sky is full of enemy.
  4. There was no limit . His DSC citation clearly states the two confirmed kills. I would guess it had to do with lack of witnesses, but I see no mention in the official scores that he even claimed the other two. Here is his citation: Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Arthur Raymond Brooks, Second Lieutenant (Air Service), U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action over Mars-la-Tour, France, September 14, 1918. When his patrol was attacked by 12 enemy Fokkers over Mars-la-Tour, 8 miles within the enemy lines, Second Lieutenant Brooks alone fought bravely and relentlessly with eight of them, pursuing the fight from 5, 000 meters to within a few meters of the ground, and though his right rudder control was out and his plane riddled with bullets, he destroyed two Fokkers, one falling out of control and the other bursting into flames.
  5. To me, it's always happned now and then since the first time I got OFF in January. Maybe you have just had a run of luck with it . I have seen that there are also times that your going 5MPH on the ground and loop the plane and die...so it goes both ways. I think Povloski once said it's a role playing roll. You have been real lucky is my guess....just a guess.
  6. Thanks for the kind comments. I don't think it needs to be stickied ,not really on topic, and because I will ressurect it now and again when I update it.
  7. 20 years and a lot of work. I actually obtained a lot of items for next to nothing and wrote to hundreds of living aces in the early 90s , made many contacts with authors of books and collectors all over the world etc.
  8. Here you go Siggi but keep in mind that he lived a long time and signed many, many things. His signature is not considered rare. Erich Hartmann 352 Victories
  9. Thanks for the nice comments everyone. gwar, I have a large collection of Vietnam autographs including many Mig Killers, I also have Korea and the largest part of my collection is WW2 (including 18 of the top 20 American scorers, many KIA and all Luftwaffe pilots over 200 many KIA and Japanese, Russians, British, you name it). I'll try to post some more WW1 related stuff in the next few weeks.

  15. O/T WWI for IL2

themighty...I designed multiple campaigns for DGEN (the first campaigns after Pacific Fighters official release and still included in EnjoyR's massive patch) .... DGEN is the actual campaign engine for IL2. The "perhaps never" is more accurate unless Oleg or Starshoy get behind it and start coding. The map alone is the main hurdle for DGEN. The only campaign you could possibly get when this is released is canned missions strung together. Thus only the MP version of it would hold any interest.
  16. Version

    1,339 downloads

This campaign activates the North Vietnam VPAF forces for Wings Over Vietnam. It will allow you to fly a MIg-17F during Rolling Thunder or a MIg21MF during operation Linebacker one. It has fully functional squadrons, load outs, historical experience and North Vietnamese pilots as well as VPAF briefings. It also includes files to make the Mig-17F and the Mig-21MF flyable (if needed). Brought to you by MK2aw
  17. O/T WWI for IL2

Please tell me that everyone realizes in this thread that it is just a package with planes and some objects and a map. NO CAMPAIGN whatsoever, so what is even the point of any comparisons?
  18. New Campaign Suggestions

Fly with the Yanks in the 94th Aero Squadron late 1918...never a dull moment believe me.
  19. O/T WWI for IL2

I might have missed it reading the thread but I asked the question anyway at the end. What kind of campaign? DGEN? DCG? Just missions strung along one after the other? IL2 1946 , with EnjoyR's massive add on is the final word on WW2 combat flight sim but for the WW1 stuff to get up to par they would have to make it part of DGEN or else it's just canned missions. I don't see Starshoy around anymore on the SIMHQ boards so I am not even sure anyone is adding anything to DGEN these days....even then the OFF campaign manager is ridicoulous(in a GREAT way)....I am all for more stuff like this and applaud the work that looks very good but let's figure out the way we are going to play it etc.
  20. Thank you for all the comments! Do you think if I posted a picture of the letter I have signed by Hans Joachim Marseille of WW2 Luftwaffe Ace fame, it can be translated? I never got around to having it translated and would appreciate it knowing what it is about.

I have flown in the Lafayette but plan on starting a career with the Storks soon. I have an Ace autograph and memorabilia collection (all wars) and I have a 4 page hand written letter by Nungesser (Talking about funding for his crross atlantic flight of all things...) as one of my faovrite pieces . I love the French Aces!
  23. Very nice! Make sure you upload those beauties for the contest!
  24. Action on August 5th 1918 : 2 German Fokker Dr1s and one Albatros DVa vs . 2 French SPAD 13s and 1 Spad 7 The battle lasted 8 turns and saw all planes receive damage (two extensively barely able to make it back home). Leutnant Oswald Wittowski of Jasta 11 (a 0/0 pilot on his first mission)flying a bright blue Albatros was hit first and received and engine critical on the first turn of the game. He was able to shake this off and 5 turns later shot down a Spad 13 flown by a 6/2 veteran French pilot named Didier Pissotte (he went down in flames). Oswald then came very close to shooting down a second SPAD13 the very next turn (flown by noted Ace Jean Raymer) . He needed to roll just two 1s out of 5 dice but just came up short. Raymer disengaged 2 turns later and left for home with a badly shot up engine. The player who controlled the allied side admitted to making a tactical mistake that led to the Frenchman's demise (Didier's) by not knocking Oswald's blue albatros out of the sky when he had a chance (He chose to attack a fresh Dr1 instead). Both sides broke off after 8 turns with the advantage going to the Germans. It was a blast. I also think the game saw a record amount of criticals, struts, engines, wings, all were hit and made for an extremely lively game, I don't believe we rolled a 6 while shooting not even one time. Everyone collected lots of led.
  25. Luftwaffee is a great game and they actually made an updated new version of it ...here it is at Decision games:http://www.decisiongames.com/html/luftwaffe.html Here is the finished product on balloons
