If that's the case how do such aircraft control pitch? ( I'm asking about delta winged aircraft with canards)

I think that you may be aware that there's an option of disabling the intro movie in the game setup (configuration) application. go to Start>All Programs> Il2 Sturmovik 1946 > Configure IL2... there's a ckeckbox to skip the movie... Another known issue with this tile is that the game initially tends to stall after it's newly installed at the main menu screen initially, but afterwards things should be Ok... What's your System specs anyway?

Yeah.. of course.. As you know most WWII Japanese fighters including the Zero were very agile but could'nt withstand battle damage.. even a well placed .50 caliber incendiary round in the lower fuselage below the cockpit could easily take out a Zero.. A single hit from a 20mm Colt-Browning cannon could literally blow one to smithereens.......

HEH! HEH! I'll bet you turned those Zeros into "scrap metal sushi"...

That's a good idea... perhaps something like a Super Tomcat 21 or QuickStrike F-14... (No Offence), But with canards... NAH.... they don't suit a Tomcat...

My favourite's the Mirage Factory's F-14 Tomcat because: As far as I know no combat simulator over the past 10 years has a well detailed F-14 with BVR ability... Thanks to the Mirage Factory & Combat Ace all you have to do is buy any of the thirdwire games, download the aircraft & the appropriate weapons pack & there you have it... Your very own F-14 detailed to the dot & ready for combat !! Once again: I don't think any other F-14 exists for any combat sim even as an add-on... Please correct me if i'm wrong..

Does WOI have a similar graphic engine as all the other ThirdWire sims? Would the add-on aircraft/terrain/ weapons/effects created for WOE/WOV/SFP1 work in WOI?

In USAF missiles like the AIM-120 are effective to about 40nm..if I remember correctly.... a shoot cue appears as a small triangle below the target designator (TD) box meaning that you're ready to fire... while playing in the 'arcade view' the word 'shoot' will appear at the bottom of the HUD.. but in the cockpit view it's just the small triangle...

IMHO, Jane's USAF was The best modern jet combat game ever created.... A decent choice of stock planes, different flight models for each of them, properly simulated avionics, and pretty good graphics & FX (For its time)... Too bad no one bothered to create a sequel to it.... WOE is pretty good, with its gameplay , graphics , effects & of course being very mod-friendly. And with all its mods such as add-on aircraft, weapons, etc...it comes pretty close...

Hi. The latest in the IL-2 series is IL-2 1946. You actuallly paid $ 19.95 for Forgotten Battles???!!!!!! I'm sorry my friend.... but you've been had!!!! Il-2 1946 combines Il2, Il2 forgotten battles, Pacific fighters plus all updates In addition there are quite a lot of new planes to fly... By the way.. just for the record... I paid just $ 10.19 for IL2 1946. and yes, it's The 100% ORIGINAL VERSION...

Hi.. How's SuperPro 9.4? is it working properly with Vista? & are you happy with it?

I can't really say as I only use USAF on Windows XP with Admin ver. 8.4 as an add-on... In Windows XP some of the drop down menus can't be accessed... especially in the Quick Missions setup... but the game accepts add ons & plays perfectly .... So if your version of USAF works on Windows Vista, I don't think you'll be having any compatibility issues with add-ons..

Yes, you're right SuperPro for USAF is basically an add-on for Jane's USAF.. it has new features like new flyable aircraft like the F-14 Tomcat, AV-8B Harrier II+, a better detailed Su-27 & Su-35, S-37 bekrut and many others including flyable helicopters.. Heavy bombers like the B-2 & B-52 are now flyable, plus you can even fly helicopters.... in addition there are a variety of new weapons & missions... But as you may already know that it's not a freeware... and even though the latest version, SuperPro 9.4 has been posted for free on certain sites using 'Bit Torrent' format there are complications with the download... well.. at least for me...
