Oh. ...then I guess the reality is never as good as the fantasy ! Well...I can dream.

Exactly! To quote Carl Sagan (RIP Carl) "we are starstuff". Comforts me to think some of my atoms were once out there, forged in the maw of a supernova.

XB-70...and more?

It would look good stencilled under the cockpit of an F-18...I like it! 1LT "Cupcake" Jones "Bogey's two o'clock low..they're Flankers" "Roger, in we go...Cupcake, cover me" -
Finally - contract signed for new Aircraft Carriers

Great news...at last! I feared that this might never happen. That simulation of the F-35 (with RAF\RN roundels on!) didn't half do it for me ! lol -
Thanks for that guys, it's made my day ! My Dad is really into astronomy and I've always had an interest since being very small. He got me hooked on it. I started with the usual 60mm refractor then realised I was better off with a pair of binoculars. I have a 150mm Dob now (my Dad's old scope) which is great but when I can afford it I want to get something with more aperture. I never tire of looking up on a clear night. Makes me feel comfortable. Whatever happens in my day to day life, stresses etc five minutes under a beautiful clear night sky makes everything right again. The stars are like old friends to me. Just a pity that we don't get clear skies every night...oh to live somewhere like Arizona\Nevada. You guys there are sooo lucky!

Harrier GR Mk 7
Syrinx replied to Baltika's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Some RAF squadrons also use the old-style WW2 codes, (ie: QO-W, KC-A) particularly the Tornado & Typhoon (a neat touch IMO). There's also now a tactical number, three digits, being allocated to some a\c (ie: 005, 019 etc) as well as individual letters. Here's a selection... -

Decal request
Syrinx posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I can't make decals to save my life...gawd knows I've tried but I can't. Seeing as I'm a total stickler for details I get into a right tizzy when flying WOE when the RAF a\c have no fuselage serial numbers. I've managed to resize & reposition the underwing Phantom serials to the correct fuselage position but this won't work with the Harrier as it uses a two line serial number under the wings. So, could any of you talented super-decal guru's be able to make me the Harrier GR.3 serials that are in WOE ? I'd only need the .tga's as I can position them myself (see not totally a waste of space) ! Cheers. -

Here's an example. I just added the serial in photoshop to show the desired effect. -
Picking up a slow roll...

Oh, I suppose you could alter the loadout .ini to accomodate a sidewinder, say like the A-10. Just don't fire it ! -

I'll often carry a jamming pod which you can't jettison so I still endure the roll. -

Interesting. The ability to trim the a\c is really quite fundamental and if this pseudo-trimming works that'll be great. I'll give it a go. I've experienced the roll a few times but it doesn't seem consistent. Sometimes does it, sometimes not even with the same a\c & loads. I was blaming my joystick and even putting it away carefully after use lest I disturbed it any. Doh ! -

Yep, I might be outnumbered 28000 to 1 (help!) but I carry the ultimate weapon. Anyway, the angel on my shoulder has just informed me I've said enough so I'm closing this thread.

I second that ! Top notch work as usual. The bar has well and truly been raised. -
It isn't the size or number of your posts...but the quality that counts. And this is the only time you'll ever hear me say size doesn't matter.

Very nice, this is the kind of thing I like. Whenever I can, but it's usually around poppy-day (unless I meet them as part of my job working with elder citizens) I like to personally thank the old servicemen as I put money in their collection boxes. You can see the look of surprise and then incredulance that someone like me would personally say thankyou to them. I'll be honest, I get a bit teary eyed when I do it. Sounds silly but it's true. It's nice that you can make someone feel good just by saying a few kind words, just to let them know that all they went through, and for the ones who didn't come back that there are people out there who do appreciate what they did and show their thanks. Dave, I can just imagine that your face was a picture, the same expression as some of the guys I mention above.
