Planes for Terrains?
Syrinx replied to mikeymead's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
A far as I'm aware you'd have to do a separate install then just delete or add the a\c you wanted. Caveat: I may be wrong (yep it happens occaisionally!). -
Aurora
Syrinx replied to Klavs81's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Today's myth is tomorrow's reality. Anyone can speculate, cue X-Files theme music... ...damn, where did I put my tinfoil hat. You know, the big spiky one! -
Don't know much about Ted Nugent except that I have one of his songs on my Ipod. Flesh & Blood, it's an oldie I think but a very good song.

How to convert AV-8B+ to AV-8B...?
Syrinx replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Oooh I feel a Harrier GR.9 coming on... -

lol @ Sparko... -
Anyone here have an interest in Civil Aviation as well as military ? Apart from flying yourselves, I mean...god I hate this word it's far too nerdy...planespotting. I'll admit it, I get across to Humberside airport when I can and regularly visit the AVP at Manchester.

Falkland 1982 All-Inclusive MOD
Syrinx replied to Kesselbrut's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
TK's official lod files are not for download, period. Anyone found uploading them could (read will) find themselves in trouble. Though as Gr Viper says, there may be a 3rd party C-130 available. -
Very Cobain-esque ! It's not from a game this but if it was a game I'd be sure to be moved... Silent Running...the bit at the end where the little robot goes off tending his forest all alone in space. Get's me blubbing every time. That and the great soundtrack by Joan Baez.

Oh I get to see a lot of idiots like that, they're a Universal no matter where you're from ! Nothing wrong with an "anonymous ass grab" and I'm still in the "if your ears aren't ringing after a night out you haven't had a night out" brigade. Still I'll concede I probably haven't played any emotionally moving games really, it all depends on the ambient music, your mood at the time I expect and whether you "connect" with the subject matter. Hey, must be the sign of a good game then if it can affect you that way. Same as a good film or piece of music.

No I don't talk it...anyway Bridg was sooo last century lol Imagine a Thirdwire Bridget Jones, sometimes cranky, fun, "lite" yep I do have the odd blonde moment, fully patched up but very moddable if you take the time to get all my .ini tweaks correct. To paraphrase Newman & Baddiel..."that's me that is!" Anyhow, lets get this thread back on track... You mentioned flying an A1 in WoV...now that is flying. Always nice to get home in one piece...surprisingly easy if you do it right. That I suppose is the nearest to a moving moment gamewise. Then again, ah... the surefire thrill of getting your tetris blocks aligned takes some beating

I love simming & games as much as the next person...but really boys, you need to get out more !

I missed this earlier. Craig when I'm next in Kent I'll let you know because my brother lives in Strood, near Rochester. Would love to take a ride in an Islander one day if possible. I'll hold you to that ! Before anyone starts, purely for aviation related reasons ! Nearest I've ever got to the sharp end is row 11 on a 737.

Is it possible to assign an AI flight secondary targets?
Syrinx replied to Icarus999's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have a theory about the AI in that it's much cleverer than anyone gives it credit for. I'm sure TK designed it that way. Basically it's so advanced that whatever you tell your wingies to do, they think about it for a nanosecond then go off and do whatever they want anyway ! Now that is real AI -
XP for me. Dreading Vista on a new desktop PC (only as far as TW sims concerned though) although it will have to happen at some point. Have Vista on my Laptop and that's staying TW sim-free. Far too much faffing about for my liking.

Falkland 1982 All-Inclusive MOD
Syrinx replied to Kesselbrut's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Congrats on a super mod ! Atmospheric and really immersive. Being a Brit I tend to think of the conflict a little "one-sidedly" but after flying an A4-P into San Carlos going after the ships there I must say those Argentinian pilots were brave lads if the flak and SAM's were anything like what's in your mod. Superb. One very minor thing though, doing a Ctrl+F12 around San Carlos I couldn't find the MV Norland. Haven't checked the files but is it in there? If not maybe some ship guru could do one, pretty pur-leeze! Anyway, thanks again it's awesome ! -
Having a decal issue, lil' help?
Syrinx replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Really? I can't make a decal for the life of me, tried and tried just can't do it. Followed tutorials etc still no good. That Flanker does look good, doesn't it -
done with
Syrinx replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Well, it is a Short Stirling after all ! Seriously, could still be screen resolution. Also, sorry for nitpicking, I think it should have twin tail wheels IIRC. -
I guess he was scared of the commitment...didn't want to tie the knot.

Removing radar from HUD at the top left corner of screen
Syrinx replied to jklv's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Nothing AFAIK. Just the top-corner radar display. -
Phantom Tactics - At Least Some Things to Try
Syrinx replied to wagsled's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That's not derailing a thread...that's called giving a thread some heart and a human touch. Thankyou. -
Big Brothers's bigger brother is alive and well and living in Britain. Apparently we have more CCTV camera's here than anywhere and looking around I well believe it. I read that we're on camera approx' 300 times a day on average in a big city. Doesn't appear to be doing anything about crime rates though. I guess half the CCTV camera operators are asleep on the job, the other half too busy zooming in on your arse. That's my theory anyway.

Kind of puts things into perspective doesn't it...an exciting event in my day job is a typo or deciding whether or not to have a biscuit with my cup of tea !

The best WOV experience
Syrinx replied to toonces's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'd say YAP too. Just love those "lazy" red tracer effects ! But I also have a set up similar to Malibu above...different terrain. It's all about mind set. I tend to get overly involved if I really think about it...but I love WoV. Just immerse yourself, settings to hard. Use no red targetting aids...woah boy the ride of your life, low and slow at dusk or night. Heaven. -
pic of a British aircraft in development
Syrinx replied to Bongodriver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Take your time Craig, I enjoy the anticipation. Question: Has any aircraft-modder ever released the full finished article without posting pics or even a hint that it was ever in development? Like, wow, suddenly a great plane shows up as if from no-where. On a slightly more serious note though, I think everyone should really stop asking about updates...yeah I know we're all eager etc but really if it were me modding one I'd get pretty peeved, quickly. Then I'd make a Valkyrie look as menacing as Mary Poppins. Leave it up to the discretion of the guys doing the modding. I kind of imagine being it like this with some of you guys: Honey, what are we having for dinner? Ten minutes later... Have you peeled the spuds yet? Come on, get mud-moving I'm starving. Two minutes later... Is the oven on? You have got it at the right temperature, right ? Is the fan on? I knew we should have gone with an oven with a four-bladed fan. Later... How are those carrots coming along? gee I like that orange colourscheme. Any chance of an Israeli carrot skin? That chicken looks good. Make sure you leave the wings on... Hey, Fred next-door's having Chicken too. Fancy that, no chickens then two show up. Any chance of getting the digicam out and showing me some pics while it's in the oven ? You get the message -
I know ! That's what's scaring me Now late 60's & early 70's fashions were great, I luv that hippy look, but I'd rather not look like a bananarama-kajagoogoo-yazoo hybrid ! They say all fashions come back round again. Can't wait for the 1930' & 40's to show...some of that stuff looked way cool to me.
