Column 5 is down!
Syrinx replied to Slant6's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You know, I've thought about contributing to ABF, purely in the interests of Trans-Atlantic relations and all...but then sanity prevails. -

Various Questions
Syrinx replied to Basher11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
All Jaguar International aircraft were able to be fitted with the overwing pylons. Not sure if either India or Equador used these for AAM's but I'm fairly sure I've seen a pic of an Omani Jaguar with them fitted. -

My First Raptor Kill...
Syrinx replied to WarlordATF's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I remember my first Raptor kill...late Cretaceous. A three foot long Velociraptor Antirrohpus. Stalked him and his pack for the best part of two days. Not easy I can tell you. Had to stay well upwind. Got him when he was distracted at a big waterhole. Took the shot from sixty meters and that's pretty far when you're using an M-099 40 watt laser...oops... ...Oh, you mean that kind of Raptor -

This is exactly the kind of thing we need here...no matter what us armchair jockeys think of the flight models it's nice to get some real input...thankyou Wagsled. -
Anyone here like things that taste sour? You know, like those sour sweets (candy for you guys on the wrong side of the pond) that are so sour they almost blow your head off and make you pull a really funny face? Then leave your tongue quite sore afterwards. Silly but I love em. Just wondered if anyone else had a similar taste. Jeez, can't you tell I'm bored!
-
Yep I love those. E-numbers be damned, I don't worry about such things lol. Next they'll be saying that smoking and drinking are bad for you! When I was on hols in Florida a couple of years ago I found that the ones over there were much more sour than ours. Tell you bad it gets, I've even been known to squirt a little Jif lemon in every now and then.

Wagsled....cheers for that! It's info like this which is absolutely invaluable and makes one have a deeper appreciation of what you guys did for real. I could listen and read about such things til the cows come home. Thanks again. -
Oh dear. I thought it was only on some kind of "coloured" tube...so I've heard Diz-gust-in!

What...OMG !! Goose dies ?? I wondered what Meg Ryan was so upset about ! Seriously though everytime I've gotten into a flatspin it's always been at low altitude, crashed and burned most times (don't like punching out unless it's in campaign mode because I like to see what else is going on around me!). Funnily enough thinking about it it was mostly in a Kurnass. I'll have to do a bit of stall recovery training methinks. -

I think we should count ourselves lucky that if wanted, you can always revert to an earlier patch level or FM. In real life those guys flying the real deal have to make do with what they've got. They can't just do a new installation and hey presto, everythings as you like it. You've got to take the rough with the smooth. Nothings perfect, is it. -

What an improvement ! -
There really ought to be two contests, one for pure in-game-as-it-happens type screenshot and another for those who enhance the screenies with Photoshop or similar.

I once spent a full weekend carp fishing with an ex bf. Nothing to it, sit in the tent all day, drink beer and wait for the bite alarms to start buzzing. I tried to reel one in but I did it wrong and the fishing wire snapped. So endeth my first and only (I hope) fishing trip. The fishing part was a bit rubbish, but the rest was ok I do remember it rained a lot so I hardly came out of the tent. Ended up feeling really grimy. It was a bit like a good music festival without the music, you know tents and stuff, eating pot noodles and peeing in the grass. I won't knock anyone who goes fishing because those that do obviously derive a lot of pleasure from it, but it's not for me. Still, I gave it a go. Gotta try everything once I suppose.

All the Delta's bleed energy like crazy if you try any kind of hard turn. This seems about right from what I've read. You've gotta love em though, the IIICJ whilst not the most agile is potent if you keep your energy up. Boom and zoom's the way to go so I've found. -
Some of those RB-45 Tornado's flew without serial numbers with RAF roundels on clandestine flights in the 1950's I believe. Still classified AFAIK.

Ejection Sequence?
Syrinx replied to grant977's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I rather liked the pilots swan dive after bailing out in CFS3 ! But I do agree it's only eye candy after all. What you really want is a system whereby if you get shot down and have to eject in your sim then you get a rather short but sharp electric shock through your chair. It would encourage more careful flying and you'd treat the defences with a bit more respect, lol.
