  3. Hello all I recieved yestearday my new T16000M joystick. Whan I want to assign buttons, I have a porblem : I create a new profile in SF2 (controls) from my older one (based on Sidewinder + some tuning). The profile is completly messed up, all functions seem to be "shifted" by one line. If I edit the control with textpad or a text editor, everything is ok Any workaround ? Thank you in advance
  4. C6 was the home of the french developpers of the Mirage Factory (included BPAO), so lot of files were shared between all "Mirage Factory" sites 10 years ago, it was one of the primary SFP forum
  5. FRAID from C6 seems to say that it is extraordinary ! http://www.checksix-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=368&t=129295&p=1530511#p1530511
  6. Greetings...

    good to see you back
  7. The first Afro-Americans in France stayed in milieus where they were known, recognized and appreciated. As their number increased the contact with other parts of the population who did not recognized them for what they were but just as black (and racism exists everywhere) and sometimes as "African" more than "american" (inferior beings), incidents inevitably increased. The "Mediterranean indolence" is a term which was very common in military report. For instance, you can read it in an evaluation of GAO 548 ground crew in 1938-39 I read it in Avion 208 : http://www.avions-bateaux.com/produit/avions/2505
  8. A nice companion for the Mi21bis but it seems that it is canceled

  10. Getting Started

Hello Which mod is best for Verdun : are max's tiles still best, or Jan Tuma's work more up to date, or is it a matter of taste ? Thank you in advance
  11. Yes, I may have mistaken, I am few hundreds kms away from my install. Anyway, all my installs are customized according to my tastest and your contribution to SF2 is great, so what I think of it is not very important
  12. Yes, but I love the current TSF splashscreen
  13. That was the STO (Compusory Work Service). This was organized by the german with the zealous coopoeration of Vichy : all french boys between 18 and 23 had to go ,to Germany for work. Their condition there varied but sometimes, they were not much better treated than concentration camps priosnners. The STO was massivly refused by the French, and lot of young boys entrered the resistance ("maquisards"). The repression was sometimes hard with the family deported to Germany. And indeed, despite the "compulsory" in the name, those poor guys were somewhat treated as traitors at the end of the war.
  14. All french children who played war in those bunkers agree All fathers who looked for their boys playing in the bunkers disagree They are often the same with 20 years of difference.
  15. sorry JonathanRL, I find the current one much better
  16. Hurry up wrench, I want to start a Pakistani Sabre campaign
  17. The german POW held by the french were in a difficult situation for many reasons. The country was devastated and dizorganized so that it was very difficult to feed the french population, so imagine about the "ennemies" !!! Vengeance Lot of bad decisions : For instance the command of a PoW was left to a french colonel who was a real hero of the resistance; He treated them well according to his knowledges of prisonners treatment, the only problem is that his knowledge came from his exeprience in a German concentration camp and when he was freed he was weighting something like 35 kg !
  18. It must be commented that the same kind of stereotypes applied to french metropolitan, with deadly consequences : In 1914, the offensive on Metz was a terrible defeat for the French, and scapegoats had to be found. "Of course", the french high command was very good and did a great job as they have always done since Napoleon (especially in 1870), and they would always do in the future (especially in 1940) One regiment involved was from Lorraine with lot of solidiers who had fled occupied Lorraine, so they could not be responsible for the defeat. The other regiment was from southern France, and southern french are very well known for their lazyness (southern indolence) so they they were held responsible and several soldiers from those regiments were shot. But to answer Dutch_P47_M, there was a difference between the metropolitan and the colonized people, is that through education they had a real hope of accessing some better positions such as teachers. Basically a small part of "giifted" young boys (and girls to a lesser extent) could access a better social rank through situation. For the colonized people, this was nearly impossible with very very few exceptions. I am talking about France because I know the situation but it may be the same in other European countries.
