    hey, I didn't even know that there was a freeware Vietnam terrain! To the downloads section, awayyyy!
  2. YES! WE HAVE A WINNER! the weapondata.dat was just in the objects folder! every time I update it with the weapon editor, the .dat file got updated AND moved to the main objects folder! I just moved it back into "weapons" and it works fine now! Thanks to all of you guys who helped, especially Fubar and kct. I owe you one. now If you'll excuse me, I believe that I have some tomcatting to do.
  3. that didn't work either. I'm thinking that maybe the game is just using the weapon editor that's in the Objectdata.cat rather then using the extracted one. The names are the same, so I don't see why it'd do that.
  4. It is patched, but the editor is the one from the DL section here. Is there one on the TW site?
  5. It seems it is not working. I tried re-naming a couple weapons via the editor, and they didn't show up in game either. Any ideas?

    As a matter of fact, there is. It is very well put together, too. It's found on the Thirdwire website under "store". It will cost you $19.00, but it is well worth it, as there is a whole game included, called "Wings over Vietman" or something. Perhaps Santa will float you a twenty and you can be the proud owner of another excelent TW game.
  7. NEW DEVELOPMENT! It turns out that the weapons that I thought I added were actually part of the stock game, so I have deduced that none of my added weapons are working. This means either the Weapon editor is not working or I screwed up putting stuff somewhere. I'll see what I can find out. Are we sure that the latest weapon editor in the DL section here is the one to use? And do I still run it in windows 98 compatability?

    so true, sooo true. It seems that the retailers see me coming and raise the prices. If only I had a more steady job... The person below me would shoot themself in the foot just so that they didn't have to go christmas shopping. I think that's what Plaxico Burress did.
  11. for the thud, I just used the stock TW 450 and 650 gallon tanks as found in the objectdata, and that works fine. I might try to modify MiG tanks or some other tank so it fits the F-14.

    Once, taking on a warehouse in the middle of the desert in a B-57B, I discovered that there were four ZU-23-4s all around it. That was an interesting run. I lost an engine, and elevator and an aleron, but got home safe. After a long flight, though.

  14. Do you fly for your own country in sims?

    I always fly for the RCAF, unless it's a plane like the the F-14 or the SU-27, which has to be flown in it's native colours. However, If I get the chance I will fly a Russian or European or Israeli plane with USAF markings and loadout, mainly because I know what the american missiles' specs are, and I have no idea what the range and firing limits of a Shafir or an AA-2D or a Red Top are.
  15. I considered a fresh install, but I just did that last month and I really don't have time for that now. And I am using the latest weapons editor, I made that mistake a month or so ago and corrected it. dr, I tried all the weapondata tricks I could think of, but to no avail. And when I open the loadout screen, it just shows that there are no weapons on the fuel pylons (no black dot; I've seen that before anyway), and when I go to the scroll-down list for those pylons, there are no tanks. THey're not in the inventory screen on the right side either. Only Sparrows and 'winders.
  16. This is depressing. It seems that I can't add any fuel tanks. I tried to add the alternate F-4 tanks found in the downloads section here, but they didn't work either. I also tried to add AIM-120s, and they didn't show up, but I'm pretty sure that was because of my hasty .ini mod of the F-4J to see if they would show up. Anyway, the only thing I can think of is to wait untill I get a better computer and system. For now I will make due with tanks that come with the game. Thanks for the help anyway, guys.
  17. I'll download a recently released plane that has tanks, perhaps the skyray, and maybe that will work. THanks for the help, though. And I can't wait to try out the new cat!
  18. The only problem I can think of about a lifting body fighter is that it would be very difficult for it to hold Gs unless you were at a very high speed. Otherwise the thing would just pile on the AOA instead of actually turning on the lift vector.

  20. Nope. Nothing. Niet. Nada. I tried everything you guys suggested. Fubar, I followed your instructions word for word and tried it three times, to no avail. Still no tanks. dr, I'm flying in 1976 but I'm not bothering with the phoenixes right now, I'm just trying to get tanks. I switched the F-14A data.ini so that the fuel pylons were USN only, but that didn't work either. It seems that the gremlins are working against me. This is even more strange because I managed to successfully add Maverics from the old bunyap pack, and they work fine. THen only things it does not work on are fuel tanks and the phoenixes.

Also, I am having the same problem with the tanks for the F-105D-31.
  23. May I set the bar for strike planes? My 53148 feet in the F-105 here isn't exactly challanging the MiGs, but let's see you hit that in an A-10! PS: there's room for improvement in this class... I hit that starting with full fuel and a couple of 'winders, and no planned climb curve.
  24. I have the .lods and the .bmps in the weapons folder, if that's what you mean. There is no tank.ini file, it's all through the weapondata, I believe.
  25. Come on people! I've reinstalled the cat a couple times now, and still nothing! no useable weapons except for sparrows and 'winders! Somebody else must have found this problem! HELP!
