I've been trying to fly F4:AF online for a while now w/o much success. I tried using Hyperlobby, but I would always get a "connection timed out" message. As it turns out, I was told I needed to have port forwarding enabled in order to fly, but I haven't the foggiest what to do. Help, anyone?

Patience.....Or the Lack There Of.....
DirtyBirdFA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'ma try my best to be like Switzerland here and be neutral USAFMTL brings up many good points. I think at times we, non-modders, forget that modders do these works in their SPARE time. We might be too inclined to think that the works in progress are their #1 priority that we fail to see that modders don't get paid for their works and that they do have other obligations (jobs, families, and other social/financial obligations). We need to be more mindful of these things and just be grateful that they are taking their time to give us these great projects. On the other side of the fence, modders are artists. Although their median is not canvas, clay, or marble, modders do create art that we enjoy. With that being said, an artist's creation is ALWAYS going to be criticized, be it a still-life painting, a marble sculpture, or a new skin template of an F-8D. People always have something to say, but that's just our inherit nature. When you make your work public or for the public, it's always going to be scrutinized...it's the rules of the game that the artist chose to play. K...laterz -

1.) The Lockheed U-2R/TR-1 "Dragon Lady" (Don't know how feasible that may be though) 2.) A sector of Russia (reconnaissance missions for above) -
The original post didn't strike me as being a criticism to Manfred or his achievements, nor did it seem like he (original poster) was insulting Manfred out of spite. Looks to me like he was trying to make a funny thread, but ppl seem to take things to seriously. Just my impression....

________ Not to mention that Boston College is #2 in the nation in football, and the Revolution are headed into the playoffs in MLS. Bruins are doing pretty well too, and soon the Celtics!

As far as your specific questions go, I can only say for sure that downloading official patches for any game is a must, as they fix annoying bugs. Other's will soon help ya out, I'm sure. History channel cancelling dogfights!
DirtyBirdFA replied to tmdgm's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I really hope it's only a rumor because Dogfights is a really great show. I was hooked on it since day one and have been fascinated by each episdoes ever since (except that battleship one that had NOTHING to do with dogfights). I'll definately be sending in a letter, just in case. -
Tiger Woods '08 demo on Xbox Live Marketplace
DirtyBirdFA replied to Revvin's topic in Game Console Corner
I read the actual game was plagued with glitches, most notably freeze-ups when trying to save games. I've heard quite a bit of said complaint, so just giving yous guys a heads up. Seems to me this is a case of releasing the game before all glitches were worked out. -

Most damaged aircraft that remained flyable

I'm jealous...I don't have any battle scars to share with the group. It seems that even the lowest caliber AA round or even the shortest burst from an enemy jet brings me down to the ground in a thousand pieces. -

Morning, Gents! I'm sure you all might have noticed this before and perhaps even discussed it among yous guys, but I've observed that the majority of virtual pilots, regardless of game preference, are in the age demographics of 25yrs and older. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I was wondering if yous guys had any idea as to why?

I speak spanish fluently as well, and I can get around speaking German (I've had to read and comment on Goethe as part of my German minor, so I'm sure I can understand anything in German!) But if you need someone fluent in bad and inproper English, I'm your man!

drdoyo, cool pix! I think there was an actual instance where part of a wing of an Israeli F-15 broke off and the bird was able to land safely. Don't quote me on that thou.... I did some searching came up with the following video courtesy of liveleak. Apparently there was a mid-air collision and the F-15 was able to land with its right wing completely torn off http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=b5a79a516c -

The damage model on SF could definately use some tweeking, but some damage is better than none. At least its better than Falcon 4.0 AF where no damage is visible. As you mentioned, there are definately great minds gathered here, it's just a matter of finding time between projects and life obligations. -

DirtyBirdFA replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Whoa, how'd you get your speedbreaks torn off? Did you engage them during a steep dive at high speeds? Whenever I fly SF, I never get a chance to take snapshots of my damage because it seems just one hit, even from a 12mm bullet and the plane explodes. -
That must have been some sight spotting an A10 flying low. I've seen a couple of fighter planes fly overhead while in college in Georgia (including what appeared to be an F22), but because of their speed, I've only caught glimpses. It must have been cool to have seen a slower moving plane such as the A10 fly overhead. You also can't beat a flight of blackhawk helicopters flying tree-top level over you!

Hey all, I have a small problem whenever I try to run the Offensive fighter maneuver mission in Training. The mission starts off with a Mig-29 turning out in front of you, and at such a close range I switched to guns for the kill. After having downed the Mig, I return to the previous screen, hit "fly" again, and I resumed the same mission again. However, this time I cannot switch over to guns. I've tried changing to guns using the buttons on the joystick, the assigned keyboard keys, and even through the MFD in the cockpit. As my final resort, I even switched to Dogfight override, but nothing! I pull the gun trigger and no 20mm rounds come out. The only way I get to use the guns again in this training mission is whenever I exit completely out of the training options and reload the mission. I guess doing that isn't such a big effort, but it's the principle of the thing! I wanna fly...not wait!!! Has anyone experienced this problem too?

*note: not word for word, but you get the jist of it* Rex Kramer: Who's flying the plane? Dude: Striker, sir. Rex Kramer: Striker,.. striker? (suddenly a female tower attendant gets punched in the background) HAHA. Great movie!

A question and suggestion...
DirtyBirdFA posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Greetings! A while back there was talk about having Biohaz gear available for purchase, such as coffee mugs and t-shirts. It really sounded like a great idea and a great way to help Jeff keep this site up. Did that idea ever develop? Also, I was wondering if the addition of an U-2 spy plane (flyable or AI) is possible? I'm not sure if cockpit details are available for such plane though. I was thinking, for a flyable version of the aircraft, the missions could basically just be recon (duh ), with the player having to worry about SAMs or being intercepted. For AI action, the user could just pick up a MiG and try to intercept it. Just a thought ~Dirtybird :)
