  1. Since the new patch might be the last for LOCK ON I wonder why they did not fix the lights in this game? As of now the lights are fu*cken horrible? I am not sure why others do not discuss this problem in the official forums? Because for one thing the lights don't flash or strobe? And they look like 8-bit color green and red things that just look like a beta fill in :o
  2. Great it looks like the US may not even see the addon:( I guess you could import the product then I could just pass it on to you guys maybe. In ISO format no less. :)
  3. I have the Geforce FX 5950U. I am also running the 56 forceware. But I have not really had to many problems with the new drivers. I have noticed that I will get CTD's with some games when that did not happen before. What settings do you have Lomac on? I have every thing on high and I get 25-200 fps.
  4. I am using a 5950u with 2 gb ram and a 3200+ CPU. When I go to see what the FPS are they are much lower than they seem in the game. In the game they seem to be 60 fps or so but on the counter they are like 25 or even 16. So i guess my question is do any of you know if the 5950 has been having problems with lock on?
  5. I noticed that the lights in lock on are not very good. They look very generic and because there are so many other good effects in Lock on I think a patch should include strobing aircraft lights like a flight sim should have. The ones now are just terible they look like 8-bit single color draw ons. Flight sim 2004 has good strobe lights and lock on should have better ones.
  6. The f-14 is being canceled the new S-f-18 or super hornet will take all aircraft over. So it would be good if they made a few more planes flyable including the f-14.
  7. This looks like the work of programming excellence. Keep up the good work ;)
  8. Ya I can code. Humans are not perfect are they. But at least some people try to achieve whats exceptable and some things can not fit into a standard thats all.
  9. I think that the new add on f-18 should be in the form of a patch. It just would not make any sence to pay for some thing that's just a more complete version of what we already have. I also hope screen buffering and tripple buffering gets added to the options menu. Using Wav files was a bad idea because the game does not use a sound engine like most games do. Thats why they had problems with it most likely. So adding some revised code might help a lot of the performace problems that we have when theres a lot of aircraft. This is becuase it's repeating code for diffrent sound files. Also one more thing for a patch that would be nice is the code fix from what the russians did and the other teams did. It's very ambiguos becuase of the diffrences in the way russians program and the rest of the world. It's seems like there is a little but of miss communication because there is such a big gap in code that's causeing a memory leak. Looking at some of the code my self there are to many catch statments that are a work around to preventing CTD's. And also the sound coding is using some cout statments that are ineffiecent for this type of advanced program engine. So for a patch it would be best if the team could go back and fix up some of the code and make some conversions. I wish I could help :D
  10. I will not hold my breath:) but I guess if the add on will make lock on better then what the hell it's only money right? But I would say if the game sells well then at the very least a few patches is needed for the base Lock on code.
  11. WOW :o Lock on performs like total s**t on my system. Amd 3200+ @ 2.5 GHz 512 400mhz ddr, Geforce FX 5600 @ 370/450. all seting on medium with blur off. I am talking about 12 fps here. There is also a very bad memory leak in the way the game loads and also it is using memory very infinitely. I hope the Dev. can fix this problem. It looks like a good game but I guess I will have to wait until the next generation of GPU's and CPU's come on the market to play this thing. Thats good in a way because I will have to experiment a lot with this game. I think it runs like s**t because of my GPU but I am not going to support ATI or Nvidia because they are holding advancement back in GPU technology. I hope the new XGI cards will work for this sort of game. I reinstalled XP and I am not running any TSR's so does any one else have very bad performance with this game? Any one notice the memory leak too? :)
  12. F-15 Car Quals?

Ya I guess I know what you mean. But if you don't have real data to comapre things on a virtual level to the real thing then it's hard to make some thing 100% right on. The models are close but if you don't fly the aircraft it's hard to make the adjustments needed for real flight simulations. A f-16 landed on a carrier a few times. the Navy used to have a group of f-16's. Even a c-130 can land on a deck. With the right preperations of course. Like a clear deck :)
  13. One more thing I found is that the game is using WAV files for sound instead of MP3 or OGG. This means that the sound is eating up memory and recources that it really does not have to. They should have done that diffrently because the operating system has to assign memory for wav files to be played. I.e. OS interacting when WAV are being played this slows the game down a lot. So one way to inprove this is to reduce playback quality. ;)
  14. I am using all the latest drivers. But I am glad some one has seen the memory leak. It's not very playable for me :( It really sucks for me all well. But I like the game in it's self. One problem I am having is that my GPU is showing it as being assigned to PCI it needs to be on AGP. But it would be nice to get that memory leak fixed. I turned all the settings down to low except the water and textures so it sort of looks like s**t. But I will start looking for new solutions for performance soon.
  15. Lock On

Well like I said my post is stupid because I did not know that the game was still beta.
  16. Lock On

Thanks for the info guys this helps a lot. :D :D :D :D
  17. Lock On

    where are there diffrent missions???????
  18. Lock On

What I really don't like about the Lock-on Demo is that you can't fly a full mission. You start from the air, which is not like a mission at all vs the realism of starting engines and starting systems. Then taxing to the runway setting flaps and taking off. If the cockpit is not interactive then lock-on is more like an image of 3d drawings. There are no systems to interact with like weapon systems or flight control systems. Radar is a big deal too. The demo should have included a full mission with selectable ordnances and full mission tasks such as taking off destroying targets, Mid-air refueling, and then landing. It's not that much to ask in a sim. a-10 Cuba may not have had mid-air refueling but you flew a real mission. In lock-on the mission is not defined at all you go in not knowing any thing and you are already in the air. So this is what I don't like about the demo because it's a big disappointment because I have been waiting for this sim for 2 years now. I just hope the final code will offer the capability of flying a real mission with all the necessary tasks that need to be done in order to make this sim a worth while effort for the makers.
  19. Lock On

So you guys are saying the demo is beta? Well if thats the case why did they release it. Good then maybe there is hope for this sim after all.
  20. Lock On

It's not that I want every one to agree with me. I simply think that the demo gives the whole game a bad name. Because it just seems poorly made. The game runs like total s**t on my Amd 3200+ ATI 9800 256mb. The aircraft look better in strike fighters and FS2004 in lock on I don't know if thats even half way exceptable. That’s one thing they needed to fix before releasing the demo. I am not sure why the game runs bad but some thing about the environment with the a-10 is just generic as hell. The only good thing is the cockpit but its totally non-interactive. So basically it does not seem that lock-on is worth the wait. But to give it a fair chance I will download it to see if any things better when it comes out. If it's worthy then I will buy the game. And one more thing this post is not to offend any of you. I think what I am saying is very valid and I would be surprised if so many would disagree. Games these day need to be held to a standard. And yes I think any developer that can't meet a higher standard like in HL2 or doom3 in any platform of game, Should be flamed out of business or take lessions from better programers and developers. Because yes they are out to make a buck. But if the game can't messure up then why spend $50 on crap? I can take that $50 and buy clothing or save it to upgrade my computer :D
  21. I have a AMD 3000+ with a GIG of Ram and a Geforce FX 5600 with 256MB. I get very poor performance in FS2004 about 10 FPS with the clouds on. Then I get 60 FPS with no Weather on. But how will Lock on perform on my system?
  22. Are you beta testing Lock on? it seems that you and madjeff already have a copy of lock on in some form?
  23. MrMudd

That's cool  so then is this game worth the wait or is it a little over hyped?
  24. All the web sites that are pre-ordering Lock on says the game is still set for a 9/24/03 release date. Seeing all the screen shots the game looks about done. Do any of you know if this release date is accurate.
