  1. Well, I've already used a sizeable chunk of the AvH Bf109g-10/DCM flight dynamics to boost the S-99; the g-10 was the fastest of all the 109s, and should be able to manage nearly 700 KPH at 7500m altitude... As the S-99 was a rather odd derivative of the g-14/AS, it used a DB605AS engine, and could not equal that kind of performance. I don't expect I'll release it with the modded FM for the simple reason that I don't want to do half-measures.

Wait and see. I really need to speak to Gregory, but he is rather occupied...

Meanwhile, Stary in particular, - look at this and tell me what you can suggest:

  2. I'd like a pair of these stovepipes -see below - to fit onto Monty's S-99/Bf109g. Admittedly, they were used only on G-5/6 aircraft, and Monty's is a G-14/AS or G-10, but still...

Is there a way to have an unguided projectile that flies about 1,200 metres before exploding? And that actually does some damage? Because the heavy Flak doesn't seem to...

The photo below is of one of my 50 or so totally reworked G and K series aircraft for CFS3.

  3. Unfortunately, a LOT of the prop model FMs need work (and actually, some of the aircraft too).

But there is hope...now that TK has released a P-51 and Spitfire, that's at least 2 FMs of similar vintage that can be used as a base to start fixing other aircraft.

I was hoping that when the AvHistory team (who are highly respected in CFS at least) made the switch, that somehow things might come back together. But they didn't, and as a result, we've got a shattered community where it seems to be difficult to get things done. As I wasn't there when the rift took place, I have no idea what caused it, and no wish to know or judge. Just that it's a shame, and it's held a lot of good stuff back.

Actually, I have the set of AvHistory FMs for a number of aircraft - some DAT, some Wolf's - if anybody is interested. I can't upload them without permission, but if there is enough interest, I'll ask.

  4. whacha think I've been bitching about the 12-18 months!!! ?????

I got over 6 years of WW2 modding that's basicallly, shot-to-s**t, cause they're all too old. Makes me weep.

I can identify with that only too easily... Started with CFS1, go from there... Only it's not 6 years. One reason why most of my effort still goes into CFS3, because after all the stuff I've made, I'm not giving up like that! Admittedly, SF2 has many very good or sometimes better points, but not quite enough to get my total loyalty!

  5. Hi Kulbit - If I were you, I'd just upload them directly yourself. There are however a few differences between subtypes...

There isn't much I can do with the cockpit except possibly change the gunsight and repaint the interior the right colour for this series - it's originally for an Emil, which was (at least in it's earlier production runs) painted with RLM 02 grey-green. Towards the end of the Emil's production life, the cockpit colour was switched to RLM 66 (the Luftwaffe expression for Panzer Grey, if you prefer!) so all F, G and K series aircraft have the dark grey cockpit.

  6. Good thinking on that decal! I'll see what I can do. There'll be a boatload of decals, because most of the technical markings are decalled rather than painted on.

Admittedly, this model didn't carry them, but would anyone be able to do a set of WGr 21s? In THIS sim, it must surely be possible to make an unguided projectile which explodes after covering some 1200 metres. You may remember them from CFS1 - they wreaked utter havoc!

Edit - Got the gunsights. That adds yet another dimension - the cockpit really needs repainting. It needs to be RLM 66 rather than 02...

  7. I think it is one side mesh (plane) so it is impossible to map ones side blue and one dark grey...I haven problem since avias were mostly in one colour :-)

Not to worry... Can't do everything! I've just got the gondolas and fuel tank to redo and we're off. I'll try and do a few if I get the time - the basic model can do G-6/AS, G-14/AS, G-10 and K-4, so there should be a few paint schemes worth knocking out. Once I've got the initial release version finished, it should be easy enough. I've just finished a series of G and K types for CFS3 - 54 of them to be precise, from the G-2 through G-4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 14 to the K-4, including reconnaissance versions and so on....... Horrifying, isn't it?

  8. it wont be the simple copy paste work.

It wasn't! Exploded on the runway. And in any case, yours is very good and perfectly convincing, so it's only me being CFS-ish!

Releasing soon - but do you remember which bit the elevator trim tabs are mapped to? I can't find it for love or money... Which means they are light grey like the underside, not red or camouflage colour as they should be. My only problem!

  9. One of these?

It's Monty's S-99, with a reworked skin based on the S-199 templates Monty sent me when he released the aircraft. I've done a bit of fiddling and tweaking to make it a credible Bf109g-10, but the credit really goes to him.

Obviously, the ideal would be to release it as a full stand-alone, if everybody agrees. With TK's Spitfires and Mustangs, that gives us a nice little selection of the most important fighters of 1944-45.

  10. I've just noticed something very odd - the stock Hunters (Fully merged plus all expansions, updated to latest version) don't have gear doors when viewed from below - just bloody great hole through the wings. And they do have what appear to be RP rails that shouldn't be there. I know they didn't use to do this... Does anybody have the explanation, or have I messed something up again - which would surprise me in this particular case. since I haven't touched the "issue" ones. They all do it except I think for the stock F6. I think...

    Anyway, take a look:

  11. Nigel, don't forget you need 1 runway for each side; so you can get away with 2 (1 red, 1 blue).

You can always use the "Empty Desert" terrain I uploaded last year ... it only has 1 on each side, and should work in SF2 with minor data ini editing

the water looks pretty damn good!

OK, that's what it's got. They sort of appear floating in the water - one single bitmap converted from CFS2 . I've done the same with CFS2 desert textures but assembled several into one big tile - bit more convincing. Must try yours!

  12. WOOT!!!! WOOT!!!

thanks Nigel!! I really need to get back to finishing off the targeting for Korea...but I can't stay away from my beloved WW2 installs!!!

I gotta say, Monty really did a fabulous job on both these birds. :kudos::hi:

Getting much closer. In fact in a lot of places, I've been putting in details, such as the hinges running along the centreline of the upper engine cowling, that SF simply can't render... Just got the drop tank to finish, and that's the basic template done. Remember, all the hard work was done by Monty himself - getting all the panel lines in place, etc, etc. All I've done is fiddle around with it a bit!

In case you're wondering, the terrain is "Nothingness" but with CFS2 water textures substituted. It's great for short-load-time testing as advertised, but has a bit more visual impact than the original. I just wish I knew how to get rid of the runways... Every time I try, it all locks up!
