Sure ya do, Grinch! Might spill your coffee up in that nice warm tower, eh? :wink2: Didn't know you'd finally made it up this away. Anywhoo, darned fine interview USAFMTL, and especially the good Captain. I especially like the Old `Vark shots, and the copious coverage of my USAF profession, weapons loader. The MJ-1 was your best friend in the cold, and worse enemy during the heat. Fine flashback...

New "save" files, editable?
Spectre_USA posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have yet to install the Feb 10 patch with it's capability to save a mission at debrief. I want to finish a campaign I started first, and haven't had the time to do so yet, but hope to on the weekend. Had anyone else? Are they text editable? You know, like swapping a flight type, or opposition flights, etc... -
War For Israel Campaign For SF2,SF2:E,SF2:V and SF2:I
Spectre_USA replied to Spectre8750's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
No clarity needed, I just figgered I'd step up, since I knew the answer, and just happen to have a similar handle. If you get `er going, be sure to get your bolts tightened, as it's gonna be a bumpy ride! -
War For Israel Campaign For SF2,SF2:E,SF2:V and SF2:I
Spectre_USA replied to Spectre8750's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
I am not the numbered Spectre, but yeah, that is what he means. I am loving his prior version, and all I have is the SF1-WoI terrain. When I added it to the My Docs area, I had missing tiles and the like. After reading the readme, imagine that, I popped a copy into the main program directory's terrain folder, and it works wonderfully. Some tough fights with the Later MiG's and Su's, lemme tell ya. They have long-range missiles as well, and aren't afraid to use `em! -
Strike Fighters 2 Feb 2010
Spectre_USA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
I am in a quandry. Should I chuck my current War for Israel - 2012 campaign, which is a real corker, I hasten to add, or upgrade? It is my 3rd time flying it through, each have been 8 missions, and I've finished 5. I reckon the delicious save button will wait for the weekend, as it looks like a complete re-install of WoE may be in order... -

Hullo, what? Holy whakamoly, I've been dreaming of this one for, like, EVAR! Gotta pop over to Thirdwire and give TK a virtual pat on the back!!11 -
AI Issue that needs a fix.
Spectre_USA posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Lets do the math. Average number of guns on a typical US fighter? 1. Number of guns on a Zeus? 4. Sure, one's a gatling with a higher rate of fire, but of a slightly lower caliber. And the speed difference is approaching infinity for odds of a hit. So why do they do it? I like that the wingmen use a lot less baby-sitting with recent patches, but this one niggles me no end. Does anyone know of a way to tell the AI, "GroundGuns=Don'tFreakingDoIt!"? -
AI Issue that needs a fix.
Spectre_USA replied to Spectre_USA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've only been able to fly a couple of flights, and the sodding enemy keeps making my wingies drop their ordnance, but it does seem mo' bettah. Had 2 pairs of CBU's on each of the 2nd element dudes, and chose 3 as a release count. Sho' `nuff, a trio was released, and actually popped a Shilka! Eureka! The last was popped off at some point, but I did not see the results. Reeled `em back in as they were lining up a guns run, and all was well. No letters needed to be written to their virtual parents explaining that they did an incredibly stupid thing. More testing needed, in a less aerial threatened area, but so far, so good... -
SF2V Moon and it's reflection on water

Flew it in harm's way, would be my guess. There just happened to be a lot of harm out that night... -

Oh, yeah! There's news I can use. Will have to give that a go. Cheers, GregoryP. Now if I combine that with the L-T's CBU/nape suggestion, I may just get some Bad-A wingies instead of the Cannon Fodder I have been flying with. `Preciate the insights, I just wish my 12 hour day at work was over now... -

Spectre_USA replied to Spectre_USA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Agreed, exceedingly sublime! And I have always held to the adage that Fighter Pilots make movies, mud-movers make history! Some good ideas and insights here. Maybe I will go more with rockets or summat, and not what I would take for myself. Some dudes rocket and gun skills are atrocious, I hasten to add, thus the reason for wanting them to tote PGMs. But if the aren't going to fire them, they may as well be rocks. Maybe tied to skill level, I may have to look into that aspect... -

I just had a Strike Hornet (F/A-18C) with a pair of SideArms, and a pair of Hellfires make a guns run from 15 miles out. I've seen SideArm kills by wingies, so why this guy went wonky, I may never know. I just hate losing squaddies, but to this kind of stupidity, really frosts my glass... -

Cool vid! Didn't understand a word, but with a beautiful blonde and afterburning aircraft, I understand it well enough! -

And, since we're asking questions of Dave, what is the big brown bit in the bottom left of the last FE2 pic? Be it ground or seat back, it looks horrible... -
SF2 Typhoon Cockpit glitch.
Spectre_USA replied to mikeymead's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The solution for that was a fix of the cockpit LOD and OUT files by the creator. I hope that can be done here as well, but it is a lot less distracting on the Tiffy's `pit... -
Boyee-0, is this thread dating some folks, so I'll just dive right in to the deep end. I recall each and every one of those titles, and it was Tornado that drug me, kicking and acreaming, out of the old AMiga world and into the PC world. The C=64 naturally progressed into the Amy 500, which I still own. Man, did I love that beastie. I used to have all the boxes, similar to your collection, Dog-0, but the threatened bodily harm were they not disposed of. I kept the actual games, but the excellent over-sized boxes are a thing of the past. Not much in the way of monetary gain to be elicited from cool old computer stuff, but I sure do like them...

Problem: 3d Mesh frame is visible in game
Spectre_USA replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've been getting the same thing on ground textures due to having an SF1 terrain in my SF2 build to fly the cool new-ish Israel 2012 campaign. I reckon my solution would be to get SF2:I, but have over-extended my discretionary fund with the "dictator of the dollars" (Wife), so have to make do... -

Too much jibba-jabba, not enough Mudhens! Lovin' this new SF2 flock of Eagles. Out on a test run at the range; Nice background contrast, I thought; And a close tracer round taking `em out on the ground; -

Sense of scale
Spectre_USA replied to xclusiv8's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Rumor has it TK is working on a new terrain system, which I am elated about. I've been grousing about the disparity from sweet looking aircraft/objects to blotchy terrain for years. As to the RoF terrain, it is wunnerful. Would love to scorch some kerosene burners through those skies! -

AI wingmen orders
Spectre_USA replied to andqui's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It is not actually padlocked with "E" but visually selected. The same as "T" for picking up on aircraft. The ranges are ridiculously low in the SF2 series, especially considering the stand-off ranges in more modern aircraft. I liked the good ol' days when you could scope `em out from WAY back. Anyway, when you get a red box around a target, then ask #2 to attack, and off he'll go... -
War For Israel Campaign For SF2,SF2:E,SF2:V and SF2:I
Spectre_USA replied to Spectre8750's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Wow numbered Spectre, this looks just phenomenal! I, too, am an avowed future fighter fan, and this looks to fit the bill in Spades! I am thinking of tossing the F-31 in here as well to add to what I like in life, variety. I am just perusing through the download here at work, and it looks VERY thorough. This looks like a helluva lot of work to get together. I can't wait to fly it this weekend when I have a little time, many thanks... -
