75 years of Naval Aviation
Spectre_USA replied to pappychksix's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It deserves a thread of its own. I've always liked the Blue and Gold combo, and I was US Air Force! Mighty fine looking, er, whatever it is... -

Razbam F-102 Skinpack
Spectre_USA replied to paulopanz's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
That's a Rog, load toad on the F-111 when it was the 431st Test and Evaluation Squadron (431TES). They shut down the squadron on the day I got out, in Jul 1992. Both McGuire and Bong were in the squadron back in `43. A bit before my time, but cool, nonetheless... -

Spectre_USA replied to Dogzero1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
SimHQ has never been a stellar example of the flight sim community in it's best decorum, IMHO. There have been odd flare-ups hereabouts, but I have seen some serious slop sloshed around over there. Again, an opinion, so I hope no SimHQ regulars get all butt-hurt. A notoriously touchy bunch as well... -

Spectre_USA replied to paulopanz's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
That is so cool seeing my old, now defunct, squadron, the 431st, on an F-102. Cool crop, Mr. Paulo, Grazie! -
Tribute to the NF4 team

Very nicely done. The odd sprinkle of voices from ingame was a nice touch, with no repeats. -

Final verdict on the November09 Patch for SF2E?
Spectre_USA replied to Helmut_AUT's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thanks, Dave. Like I said, not quite back up to speed, took a month off. Will look into it, but I just checked, I do have DX9=TRUE & AdvancedShaders=0, no help. The moving map and the Radar on cause to triangles. It's a shame this patch brought up some LOD issues no one was aware of before, but I suppose it happens... -
Final verdict on the November09 Patch for SF2E?
Spectre_USA replied to Helmut_AUT's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Concur, I am digging the Dec `09 patch in SF2E. It is creating a weird triangle in the `pit of my F-15E when Radar is on, but the colored chatter is most acceptable. Ah, it is good to be back flying jets, instead of tossing spells and slaying dragons... -
Many thanks my friends, and I will be sure to tip one back in your honor Dave! Fifty ain't so tough...

Now THIS is a Bomber Escort
Spectre_USA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
A +1 to that! Not too shabby at all, for an ol' Vark driver... EB-52 MegaFortress anyone? That was the 1st thing that popped into my noggin when I saw the V-tail. Not enough engines so I went into WTF mode... -
F-15E Strike Fighter Euro Skin
Spectre_USA replied to James Fox's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
After a self-imposed hiatus from simming, I haven't flown in close to a month, I come back to this? You guys are still rockin'! Now that I have my once a decade RTS fix satiated, it is back to do some jet junkets. Can't wait to check out the Silent Eagle, this is gonna be GREAT! Many thanks, you wunnerful gentlemen, I am stoked to be back... ___EDIT___ Ooops, sorry, thought I was replying in the Superpack thread. This skin enhances it, so I wasn't hugely off base. I loved a similar skin on the F-4, a couple years back, so I am sure I'll LOVE this one. Many thanks for it, Mr. Fox... -
Out of Africa '77 & Red Africa '77 v1.1
Spectre_USA replied to Baltika's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
If this one is anywhere near as cool as the YK-2010, it should be a good `un! I am still flying that one, but now have the instructions and files for this, so will fire it up, time willing, when I finish your previous fine endeavour. Many thanks, Baltika! A modern redition would be highly appreciated as well, red side not required here either... -

Yom Kippur War 2010
Spectre_USA replied to Baltika's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
I created my own 2006 Lebanon War 2 scenerio, which is similar, but this looks even cooler! The links to all the items is a pain, but the sure sign of a class act, many thanks. I haven't flown WoX or SF2X in weeks, but may just have to give it a dust off and give this one a go... -

Strike Fighters 2: Israel RELEASE
Spectre_USA replied to Crusader's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've never seen anything like that. Looks like that grey-beard needs a shave! You have, of course, checked for latest drivers, etc. What makes it so odd is that it isn't all over, just the grey bits. I still get cloud tearing, but don't get peeved enough to diligently search a fix. Try changing shadows from high/medium to the other... -
J-10A Final Almost ready
Spectre_USA replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Probably a stupid question, but I've done worse. Any plans to do an Israeli "Lavi" version? Another guy and I knocked one up with a couple of skins when the SF:P1 one came out. -

Spectre_USA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
I just flushed all add-ons I had previously, well, backed them up actually. Installed this rascal, and had a multi-paragraph whine message typed in here, but when checking specifics, it looks like IzArc did me again. Used 7Z on my 2008 server, then copied them over. Worked a treat! Flew my 2nd mission in a Falcon, always wanted one of them there, just before I came in here to work. Most coolio. Autumn colors make runways hard to see, but that is probably quite correct. And I got pummeled by an S-300. Hard way to find out that those nasty rascals are in there. Very nicely done, gents. This, so far, is how a war in Europe would look...
