Shoot. I was a virtual pilot columnist for a magazine, and it did not impress my wife one bit!

anyone noticed this before?
Spectre_USA replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
This I would dig, big-time, but I doubt it. In this instance, on that date, there is a complete switchover. Was possible in prior iterations, pre-SF2, as well. Dragging along your own escort and/or SEAD in campaign is something that would rock hard, IMHO. It is just a drop-down box away in singles... -

A bored man with talent equals a very fine bonus for us all! The shiny shovel analogy is a good one, as she really gets a hoot on well. I now have a very cool collection of light strike "Euro oddities." Many thanks for another beauty, and I look forward to a few more liveries, maybe even a USAF one? (Pant, pant...) -

Ah, the big ol' turbofans are now visible from the cockpit. Sounds cool, will add it to my list of neat things to try on the game rig when I get home... -
SF2E A-10 series .ini tweaks

Any details on what, exactly, has been tweaked? Avionics, FM, range, beer cooler behind the SSP? -

I checked and double-checked my SF-Platinum install, and it all looked good. On a lark I fired up the guneditor and changed the reliability from 100 to 99%, saved it, and it appeared on the MBB. Went and squirted a Bear bomber to good effect. Weird. Must've been something odd in my gundata.dat or something. Thanks for helping out a retard, and NICE JET! -
WOV Add on Campaigns
Spectre_USA replied to Shadow The Deadeye's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Our benefactor and yours truly, made a little rascal called WoV84 set in, now let me try and remember, oh yeah, 1984. Not hugely modern, but there weren't that many truly modern 3rd party models back when MK2 first released it. Look through the older downloads, he did a pretty good on it... -

I can't wait to fly this little bugger! T-minus 1 hour `til I'm off work for close to a month. The trouble is, after Saturday, no flying for that same amount of time... ___EDIT___ Man, this thing goes like a raped ape, for a non-afterburning bugger. Low stall, without flaps. No speed brakes, but a joy to fly! I have only one issue. No Gun. It looks like a standard M61A1, but I get nothing. Does it need to be a West German gun? -

Shoot, if I had done it, you'd have been lucky to have a couple 500 pounders and a single-shot FFAR! Great job, man. Them's a LOT of lines to be going over. And, after having been away from the USAF weapons field for over 15 years, I'm lucky to remember what they look like! Thanks again... -

Rog on the PNG. Been doing JPGs for a while now with FRAPS. PNGs are a bit smaller, and a tiny bit better, clarity-wise. -

Operation Bear Hunt
Spectre_USA replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Yes, he meant GermanyCE_Types.ini. I would recommend renaming the old one, then installing the new one, that way you can revert later, if desired. EricJ is correct, it can be a real meat grinder up there in this one, especially if you have the Soviet weapons pack installed. If you plan to move mud in a dedicated strike aircraft, you will be pushing up daisys. A lot. Some of the added air defenses will allow you to dart back across the lines for a little friendly SAM assistance. This is the toughest campaign I've flown in WoX, and i've flown quite a few. Even dedicated air superiority aircraft are in for quite a tussle... -

SF2:E, very limited singles selections.
Spectre_USA posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Hi folks. So I finally made the plunge into SF2 land, but while slowly adding 3rd party aircraft, I have discovered an issue. Now that the Talons have been added, I am trying to do get them in as chase planes on the range, but all I get are stock aircraft of the era, but no 3rd party ones. Is there an INI file I can add them to so they show up as AI for my favorite type of single, mixed flights? -

Spectre_USA replied to Spectre_USA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Well, that seems to have gotten it! I just added Strike to the capabilities of the Talon, and had a Dyess T-38 running chase on a Dyess B-1B. Something I've wanted to do for quite a while. Thanks for the insight gents, and I will be sure to remove it before flying another campaign mission, or the defenseless trainers will fall fast... -

1> Er, what? Do you mean in general, like this? [Mods] ModsEnabled=TRUE Directory c:\... 2> Yes. 3> Er, what? () I would not have thought it would be limited to AI by the type of mission. I can choose them and fly them myself just fine. I just lurve mixed wings, and have wanted a T-38 chase plane for a long time. They've flown wing on some of the cooles aerospace vehicles for the longest time... -

Spectre_USA replied to SFP1Ace's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I agree. I had hoped that the "2" series would have rebuild from the ground up. Sure, use the tried and true, but take the basis and make it better. The terrain engine is just beyond tired after 8+ years. Somehow, some way, the seams have got to go... -
Northrop T-38A Talon (ThunderBirds) for Gen 1 ThirdWire Sims
Spectre_USA replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
You; 1> Rock. 2> Roll. 3> & r00l! I have a flat spot on my head from banging it on a desktop trying to get the Fabulous Thunderbird in my SF-Platinum install. Will comb over the INI's for a clue as to what I did wrong. Saw these rascals a few times as a kid, and they were a direct reason for my 14 years in the USAF. -
