C-5A WIP
Spectre_USA replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The 1st aircraft I taxied into parking was one of these beasts WAY back in the day. A tiny bit intimidating, it was. And you missed it wrench, they had a live broadcast on the web for the last Nellis show last year. It was a beaut! -
The plunge - have you taken it ?
Spectre_USA replied to Syrinx's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'd blame the response on the Summer-time blues. At least that is my excuse. That and I am leaving for New Orleans in 2 weeks for a month. Maybe when I get back, and the crispness of fall starts to snap, I will be able to hang around a warm computer screen and rummage through some INI's and stuff. Heck, I may even break down and lose my prejudice about the "new" series and pop a C-note onto it. Probably not though, as I am a stubborn curmudgeon like that... -

Problem opening thread: "ThirdWire site will be down tomorrow AM"
Spectre_USA replied to GwynO's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
Sorry, bad scene. My website is under attack from some Chinese hack site, and we're looking into it. The only safe bet, I counseled, is to nuke them from orbit, but we have a disturbing lack of munitions. I have corrected the issue for viewers of these fine forums, and beg forgiveness for our current situation from lapping over here. Some mighty fine gumshoe work by the admins here to sort such a heinous message in such short order. My hat is off to them, and I am sorry for the scare... -

ThirdWire site will be down tomorrow AM
Spectre_USA replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I can't wait! I have heard the threat of being clowned hard, now I get to see it! Or have I just witnessed it in the replies above? -
We have the B-1 and B-52...
Spectre_USA replied to Kashim019's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah, wasn't that a good one? "Project Stealth," it was called, IIRC. It even had AIM-9's, and the little guage that told if you were radar impervious. When you opened the bays too close to a "pulsing" radar, all hell broke loose as your meter maxxed! Of course the "you against the world" aspect got a little old, but overall, that was the best stealth sim evar! -
black sea terrain
Spectre_USA replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Ha! This is pretty wild, as I have re-discovered LOMAC recently, thanks to a campaign and single mission generator, and Lo and Behold, the PFunk-musicman comes up with a terrain for WoX of the same area. What a rush! Will have to take a spin in the AM. Well, it is the AM, but let me clarify by saying, when it is light. Many thanks, PFunk and crew... -

B-1B Released (Betas)
Spectre_USA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah, it makes no sense to me at all. I can send my wingie in, he takes a run, I blast the cookies out of the target, and request he hit another. As soon as I do, post-primary destruction, it all goes crash. Maybe it is a range related issue, or my SF-Platinum install is overloaded. I'll try in Israel or Europe and see what happens. I hope it isn't due to it being a pre-SF2 install, as that would be `orrible... -
B-1B Released (Betas)
Spectre_USA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Small issue found, after the dum-bass length of runway issue on my part. I have taken 3 runs on the range, bombed targets into oblivion, but as soon as I try to tell my wingie to bug out, >bam< CTD in comm.dll. I have tried the Early, and later, with varying wingmen, always a 2 shipper, instead of the 9 they propose. Was on a 2nd target with an F-15 escort, when I told him, as I usually do, to RTB. At least I tried to. As soon as I hit `tab' to bring up the comms menu, black screen, churn and whir, windows error. I have seen plenty of pukes on groundmission.dll, especially since testing WoE 2009, but have never seen one on comms.dll. Ever. And I get 3 in in a row on the beautiful bone. This makes Spectre a sad ghoulie... -

Hell's bells! That cockpit is out-by-God-standing! Even has a blue Christmas tree air freshener? Now THAT is attention to detail! -
F-22A Version 2.01 Update
Spectre_USA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Sorry, it looked to going that way. Oh, and since I'm on a kink, and about to be given the old heave-ho, I'm sure, I gotta say, nice bumps... -
F-22A Version 2.01 Update
Spectre_USA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
OK, first of, yes indeed, the F/A-22 needs mud-moving potential. JDAMs, SBD's, the lot. Heck, that is why the latter was made. As to the name-change chicanery, mEESTER bEEG pANTS, aka Column5, is having too much fun. Lastly, the F-15 advocates were fairly vociferous during development on adding absolutely no accommodations for the deployment of any air dropped iron, thus the above quote. I hope I have clarified for all interested parties. -

I are stoopid!
Spectre_USA replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
After being outside of the internet zone in the Wilds, I tried to add a `pit to the gladly released B-One. Triple-checked INI's, tried another jet on the range to ensure it was installed OK, and still a CTD in singlemission.dll. On the Range, as is my usual MO. Was starting to fit my clown shoes and squeaky red nose, when I thought, waitadaminute. Range? What size runway does it have? D'oh! Medium. Tried it in ODS`91, way down the road, but there is a large runway. After an hour and a half dozen CTD's, I am up and away to B-One a herd of camels... -

Harrier GR7
Spectre_USA replied to bobrock's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
I tried the same, got nuthin'. Pasted yours in, still the big nada. Maybe I'll just have to try the scavenged Sea Harrier pods trick. Or maybe I'll tick "X" model Sidewinders for export, and give `em Hornet double rails. I can stomach `what-if' when it's to my advantage... -

Harrier GR7
Spectre_USA replied to bobrock's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Well, I learned a lot today from this release. Mostly that the British military is saddled with a bunch of politicos that rival the US's for lameness, but I better not get into that. What I think would be a good real life, and possibly do-able for this model, is the old 30mm Aden gun from the Sea Harriers that some of the GR-7's and 9's have replaced. Of course this cannot be done with the TIALD installed, as there was a cross-feed system on those pods. I am going to look into this minor, IMHO, what-if when I can this weekend... -
voice commands
Spectre_USA replied to Romflyer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I did the GC thing as well, but when I bought it, they came up with a version 2 as mine was in transit, and they refused to upgrade me. Tried Shoot, but the wife, as FC suspected, was all in my business. "It's bad enough I have to hear the sounds and voices from the computer, but you talking back to them is too much..." -

Or, switch HUD modes to NAV or what have you. Default is the -"- key, IIRC.
