  1. I mentioned it in another thread a bit ago, and was able to actually see it transpire with the F6 view. I noticed the debriefs would just say "crashed" and the one time we were egressing the target area, out of harm's way, and I just focused on my wingie, I never take more than one, as it risks too many otherwise, and he just detonated. No other jets, no SAM reached out, just >boom< and he flamed all the way to auger point...
  2. Just climbed down, or actually crashed to desktop, from DCS:Warthog. This is looking mighty fine! And yes, the rounds counter is part of the DSMS page, which is on the the left MFD by default, but can be on either one via a bit of switchology. I miss the old SSP from the A-10A, but I am an old ex-warthog armorer...
  3. Out-flipping-standing! I am so appreciative of you folks with talent. Veltro and Wrench team up to produce this excellent flying art! VW has a ring to it, yeah? Many thanks for the hard work, Kevin, they seriously put my feeble attempts to shame...
  4. Now that there is a beautiful looking Tiger Shark! I am in the process of creating a Nellis jet, but it prolly won't be as nice. TailFinFlash's drive me bug-sh1t...
  5. So, as previously mentioned, I am just getting back into the world of SF2 after a few months off. I have recently installed a merged copy with all the bells and whistles to allow a fresh start. I only installed one after-market aircraft, the excellent A-16, so I could test out this new- fangled add a jet to any campaign DLC dealio. During the years since I originally acquainted myself with this title, I was only the beta test team for SF:P1, I never fired up a mercenary flight for campaign duties. This also changed, as I always dreamed of a mixed flight of jets in campaign, and this now seemed the way to get it done. I actually added a 2nd jet this afternoon, was allowed to buy the F-20 TigerShark, and flew a mixed flight strike 2-shipper. So satisfying. But, after hitting the target, and letting the emergency defenders whittle down the defenders, I took a look around externally. I hit F6 a second time to see my wingman, in the different airframe, and grinned at the coolness factor. The grin was short-lived, as was my wingman, as out of the blue, at about 2500 feet, he just detonated in mid-air! I had taken to running solos on the last half-dozen missions, as I was losing too many wingies to "crashes," and sure enough, that is what the debrief said about this guy. No SAM, no MiG, just >POP!< Is this a usual event for Mercenary squadrons? We have to inspect jets for IED's before we hit the sky? Fluke? Has anyone else ever seen the like?
  6. `Burner sounds like a likely culprit. They do tend to put the pedal to the metal when you ask them to rejoin. Lost another one earlier, then went an entire flight without a loss, woo-hoo! Might look into that AB thing a bit.
  7. In this instance, he had nothing else to fire, nor was he near anything to fire on. Just driving along, dutifully returning to formation when, >pop< goes the Falcon...
  8. Man, you do some outstanding work Spinners!
  9. This looks mighty fine! As a former frequent visitor to the LOLA area on the other side in the late 80's, early 90's, I gotta say, looking good. I reckon the range is out in the vicinity of Indian Springs, now Creech, which would be a tad close for aggressors. Long drive, however, in mid-summer in a GOV with no A/C...
  10. Makes the Warthog look downright glamorous! Yikes! Not just double-ugly, but ugly squared...
  11. J-yes, that looks mucho betterio. As to the year tag, I would NEVER change years of an aircraft, no sir! Not even to fly it in, say, 1979 over Europe or summat. I have been STRONGLY counseled on many occasions not to do this! I was going to try an F-5B, but it only has 4 entries in the DECALS.INI. There are a few other fix-ups needing doing, `specially in the cockpit, I have just forgotten a lot during my Summer hiatus. It might be a bit before I am back up to speed...
  12. How in Hades did you come up with all those decals so quickly? Or did you paint all the markings on? If the former, would you mind sharing your decal.ini?
  13. Any DLC terrains? Any planned? Not yet, kthanxbye...
  14. That Arizona Guard bird is just Sierra Hotel! Someone needs to get X Ray a camera, sounds like quite the gathering of Eagles, all with live ordnance...
  15. That's a fact! If you tool around for more than a minute with a fire anywhere, you WILL detonate in SF2. I like the rims only on the nose and left main, yet still nicely on the runway. That must have been a white knuckler on rollout after touchdown...
  16. HOLY s**t!

I popped in to start a (late) Birthday thread, as I didn't see one, so on a lark I looked in the Holy Sh*t thread, sure enough. Here's to ya, BLT-Dave. Hope you're currently partyin' hearty...
  17. Dangit, I got busy, and I have been flying a lot of DCS A-10 recently. Use Sony's suggestion, I reckon that is the name of it. In the lower right it should say default. Rename it to X-52 or summat, and have at it. You can always go back to default if you mess something up...
  18. Welcome to our addiction, WadCutter. (Do you shoot?) I also use an X52 Pro, and have it mapped via the in-game contols area. I am currently at work for the next 10 hours, so cannot step-by-step you through it, but it is quite easy, and does not have to have the Saitek SST software installed. If no one else pipes in, I'll revisit this after work. A quick search for "controls" in the knowledge base yielded nothing, which surprises me...
  19. Yeah, there is a pitch issue, but it is hard to see without a good horizon line reference. I'll be tooling along at about 7,500 - 8,500' and slap on the wing-leveler and reduce thrust to 75% or so. It may have a couple of degrees up, but it sure looks flat, and slowly you get an airspeed bleed from about 400 knots indicated, down to about 225 or so in less than a minute. Shoving the throttle to the stops does not improve it, only pitching the nose down a few degrees will. I went outside to make sure the engine latches weren't unlatched, cool touch BTW, and they were clamped down, and the air brake was closed as well. I would make suggestions, but I am thoroughly lost in the FM parts of the DATA.INI. It is one fun mohican to toss around, and the loadout rocks! There ia just something about the looks that really trips my trigger; It just exudes bad-assery! Even the rims are of the OD green persuasion...
  20. Kodiaks seen over the lands of Mescalito! So far, so good, the the FM seems a bit wonky when wing leveler is on. More on that later...
  21. Ha! You released it, very seriously cool! There is something about it that just works for me, in concept, and now implemenation. Can't wait to download it, and try it this weekend, it should be a cool break from the planned obsessing about the controls for DCS: A-10C Warthog I'd planned on...
  22. Never flew Black Shark, but the learning curve is, indeed, steep. It runs darned well compared to the last open beta released, at least on my rig. I just have to figure out how to get all the switches setup on the X52 Pro, as it was so much easier on the TM Warthog...
  23. Ammo problem

Basic trouble-shooting would indicate SOMETHING changed. What is the last thing you added/subtracted/edited? Just your basic cause & effect conundrum...
  24. It is still a beta? Oops, I just whined about the HUD. Maybe i should have waited? No, it was a bug report, yeah, I'll go with that...
  25. Holy-schmoley, that is cool as crap! Your verbal description was very accurate, and what a lethal looking craft it is. Do you have the front sensor tied to the usual pilot's head movement routine?
