  1. You Horrible, horrible men! I have another 4 hours to go here on the help desk, and you release not just one but 3 tasty insects! Ah, well, at least it's my Friday, so when I do get off, I'll have the whole weekend to release my inner Hornet. Many thanks guys, I am pretty sure there are going to be many Su's, MiG's, SAM's and ZSU's burned in your honor this fine weekend...
  2. Ooo, now that is a good area to "light up" with a Spectre! That 57mm got pretty close with that burst on the Wobbly Goblin, huh? Cool shots, SB...
  3. Also do a check of background processes via the msconfig applet. Mercilessly slay anything listed that hasn't a thing to do with the game...
  4. Historically, the war ended 4 days after the ground war started, from 24 - 28 Feb 91. I am currently flying a "normal" campaign on 27 Apr 91, coming up on 2 MONTHS later. I've seen no ground advances in weeks, and am running out of targets. Just as a precaution, avoid the M122 photoflash bombs. Wanted to try `em out for giggles, and sent a wingie on a SCUD convoy. He got 2 of 12 off of his Strike Eagle. The 2nd one detonated and took HIM out. Anyway, what nodes need to be captured? I actually saw an Intruder flight go just south of Baghdad to take out a twin .50 gun, pickin's are gettin' slim!
  5. During the course of the festivities, I have had a few taskings way up North. It was a tiny bit surly, and I reckon I have a POW or two breaking rocks in the area. I don't reckon there is much more than a few dual .50's up there still, but some targets are better than no targets. I was unable to get my daily flight in, maybe I'll get lucky and get time for 2 tomorrow...
  6. Well, close enough for my purposes, as no one will notice as the panels come popping off...
  7. Bit of an update, next mission is on 12 May `91, and in the last few missions the 2 armored battalions occupying Kuwait have been eliminated. Everything South of Al Amara is under Coalition control. The DMZ line actually laps over into Iran. The skies are utterly devoid of targets, even for the enemy. One sortie of a single HVA goes up, E-3, JStars or refueler, and has a loiter time in minutes. Kind of creepy, the lack of action. 1 GBU, pop, go home. All AAA and SAM activity nullified. I bet there's some stuff up Tikrit way. Might have to do a recce...
  8. Cool! I might have to cobble a couple squadrons into ODS, for variety is the spice of life!
  9. Wow, a double post in the same post. Impressive...
  10. I wonder if I can find my ex-wife's place near Houston with a spare load of snake-eyes, heehehe. Cool beans, gonna have to check this rascal out, as I am sure that since it is a Wrench® product, it is over the top coolio!
  11. JSF_Aggie, Many thanks for the reply, as yours is a tough job, for sure. Getting the campaign right is just incredibly time consuming, I know. Here is a grab of the map on May Day 1991; It has been like this for quite some time. The 1st Cav, to the west of Kuwait, have had reports of offensives into the Rumaylah South oilfields, but never get an update to said offensive in the debrief. As to campaigns being too quick, I dunno, IRL it only took 4 days from the kick-off of the ground war. Maybe have one with a high supply on the 24th for all armored units as more of a "historical" version, and the above mentioned oilfields as the node to capture. There are still weeks of the air war before that, so it isn't going to be anywhere near as quick as the `82 camapign in WoI, f'rinstance. Just some thoughts from a campaign addict. I am surely enjoying this one, except for the dragging on factor...
  12. June? JUNE? Holy crapamoly! Somethings gotta be done with the armor aggressiveness. Arrr, how would I do that?
  13. Is it a pre-requisite to eat hallucinogens before reading this thread? Just wonderin'...
  14. Holy resurrection of Zombie thread, Batma..., er, HairySteed...
  15. COMMS MOD

Thanks for bumping this, Macchi man! I have had some issues with ODS calling odd things, I reckon this will perk it up! Maybe an add for the next update to ODS?
  16. I often do, especially when tasked to go "downtown," or way up by Tikrit. If you build your own mission you may most certainly take off from one base, do your mission, and land at another friendly base...
  17. Sorry, forgot to check back in here. Many good answers here, which I appreciate. It really kicks immersion in the tail feathers, but is a needed evil for frames, I s'pose. Cheers gents...
  18. W00t! Nice screenies. I look very forward to Fates review, as I hadn't even thought of OFF since the 1st release some years back. The site looks like they've made VAST improvements...
  19. You lie, man! I just went to F-111.net, and then Googled it, and it said "Did you mean EF-111A?", and... >Off camera arm reaches in with scrap o' paper< Oh, er, this just in. One each RF-111A was created, and is currently on static display at Mountain Home AFB, near Boise, ID. >crumple, toss< Cool, man. Would be unique and rare! Never heard about it, and thought I was a `Vark go to guy...
  20. Yup, it is there, and does indeed happen. It's very cool! I just wish the armor d00ds were as good as the ones in real life, as I have a campaign going still on 14 Apr 91. I don't reckon "normal" length is a good choice.
  21. That is the thing, I just go outside and see who's with me on the way downtown. I hear, Red Crown, Python Flight airborne," hit F6, and zoom my way out to sea in the camera. This is what I see. Every time. Intruders, Hornets, the gamut, blasting across the ocean. This is in a campaign, and I am flying Strike Eagles outta KKMC. The CVN's are there in the GroundObjects directory, they just don't want to show up. I reckon I'll strap on an F/A-18 in a single and see if that improves things. I bet they will, as that is always how it worked for me in WoV. If you fly from them, they're there. If it is AI only, the desk is long, and parallel to the ocean's surface...
  22. How Low Do You Go?

You must have something set on easy, as I have them on occasion still, and I am 6 weeks past the real life stop date, 14 Apr 91. Speaking of real life, we once had an F-111F have a, get this, deer strike! Blastin' down the runway with 10 foot lances of fire, and just started to rotate. >BAM< The nose started yawing back and forth, and they got it in the air. But the gear would not come up. Pulled the throttle back and made a circuit, dumping fuel on the desert. Got it down OK, and saw it at EOR. Gore all over the speed brake, and up in side the main wheel well? Looked like a slaughterhouse. That was no Bambi, for sure...
  23. HEY DAVE !

Silly Wild-Arsed Guess. One of my favorite TLA's! Well, in this instance, FLA, but most are 3. (Chew on that a bit...)
  24. HEY DAVE !

    SWAG? 256,256,256...
  25. I tried to find it early on to shut it down, but have grown used to it. It gives you a feel like there are others, in far corners, zingin' around, and doing their own thing. Of course, now that it is the 4th of April in campaign, there are very few others up there helping out... PS, I just went and looked. It is "windloop.wav" Grab the same thing from another version and it will rid you of the non-descript "voices."
