  1. I've modded most of my Western aircraft to use one of 3 tanks. I just got sick of making mixed formations and having only the original choice having them. I am far from a rivet counter, and most are, IMHO, close enough...
  2. It's not a palm tree. It is just happenstance that the explosion fanned out, and was captured by the screenie looking palm tree like...
  3. I am thinking he needs a lazer cat escort straight to the KB sin bin...
  4. There is only 1 file the sim needs to see in the weapons folder, it is the weapons.dat file. To create one, you need the LATEST weapons editor, open the weapons.ini with it, and merely hit save. Voila, a neat and shiny new weapons.dat. The sim sees that, and displays all the lovely explosives available on the loadout screens. ___EDIT___ Typos will be the death of me...
  5. Concur. One mod at a time is a golden rule. I felt a little stretched doing two on a few occasions, and it has bit me in the butt...
  6. "T" key for enemy, "Y" key for friendly to get the lower right one. You have to go to medium HUD to get the labels off. I liked easy for the waypoint countdown, but found most `pits have one, somewhere... ___EDIT___ ALT+D gets rid of EVERYTHING...
  7. Ooo, I like that one, Syrinx. I like it a lot! You're getting pretty darned good with this skinning thing. Jealous I am...
  8. That did look remarkably IL-2 like...
  9. The 474th, eh? Had not heard of them previously, but it isn't like I ever looked. Cool history, after a quick Google.
  10. Leaving the smoking rubble behind at warp 3 in the weeds...
  11. Oh, geez! I'm inbound to Haiphong over on the game system, and now you tell me I have no chaff and flare? Pucker factor just ratcheted up. WAY UP!
  12. Oh, yes! This rascal rocks LARGE! Finally my favorite real life striker is the same as my favorite virtual striker! Whoever (FC?) did the FM is an FM God! Whether down in the weeds, or on finals, and all in between, it "feels" good! Just completed my obligatory 1st flight on the range, from stopped to stopped. Now for a Combat Lancer run over the `Nam. Just beautiful, gents...
  13. From an ex-Aardvark armorer, many thanks. As to the internal gun, it was tested at the 431st Test and Evaluation Squadron in the bay of the "D." We were getting things tweaked to test the "E," "F," and even had an "A" AMP jet to test, but then the Pave Tack program came along, and the gun just wasn't really as groovy as some had envisioned. I am sure that if the F-111's were used again in a protracted war at the time, all would have had the option. Operation El Daredo Canyon was anything but protracted. Downloading as soon as I hit the reply button. Many thanks gentlemen...
  14. Ah, looking MUCH better'n the original, it looks like you've learned lots! I just hope the patented Wrench-man signs of silliness still permeate the area. I love looking around and finding those points of punniness...
  15. Guess!

I think it would be a Sierra Hotel platform to drive in on night 1. Whiz in at 20K, over the Apaches and others, pop a pair of high value HQ buildings, then point it toward home, then wing leveler. Go outside and watch the rest of the show unfold as you scoot out in the dark. Yee-ah!
  16. So, who needs bumpin' off, FHO? Just say da woid, boss..
  17. Ya gonna toss a fictional tailcode or two in there for the 111's Dave? The Wa-wa jets of the 431st didn't get deployed, but we did deploy a big ol' bomb for the `heath birds to carry... ___EDIT___ PS, did TK ever take care of the swing-wing thing for jets with variable geometry? I know the MiG-23's are OK in the AI's hands, but 111's drop like bricks on finals unless you are really coming in hot!
  18. You are quite correct, Sir. We did such a thing to 3 aircraft, just a couple of months before the squadron closed. We were assisted in the endeavor by the folks at the depot there at McClellan AFB, CA. "D" model wings on FB's. I think when they pulled the plug on our squadron, and announced the retirement date for the 111's, they ended up shipping the airframes, in various forms of completion, out to DM. Only one was flight tested, IIRC, and it was sitting on our ramp my last day on active duty. I went and climber all over it for nostalgia purposes. Seeing your fine example, especially with the 431st patch, really takes me back. As to the tail numbers, I haven't a clue, as I barely got to know them...
  19. Happy Birthday Veltro2k

A day later than mine, but I hope it was, erm, well, divine? Happy belated Birthday Veltro, all the best you prolific contributor to this community!

    >Wanders in from flight line, and falls onto barstool< Whoa, many thanks gents, had a few days off before the my B-Day, but been busier than a 1 legged man in a butt kicking contest since... Dziękują za życzenia dnia urodzenia
  21. Cheers for the insight FC, things have chaned a might since I got out, what's it been, 17 years ago? Dang!
  22. So, thinking outside the box is what got the live nukes delivered to Barksdale a year or so ago? SAC was double redundant on everything, which procluded an incident like that, I'd imagine. As to the Bones at the boneyard, WTF? I wouldn't think ANY would be there, as there are BUFF's still flying, aren't there?
  23. Cool pics FastCargo! I never saw the "non-graduate" TFWC patch before. My last wing was the 57th, so have the FWW patch, but that bomb off center is a riot! So, for that matter, is the B-1B "Trojan!"
  24. What would be WAY cool is to have them become an immediate mission fail, return to base if you inadvertently frag one. Of course it would stand to reason that this engine would probably give you a fail if the ENEMY freagged one as well...
  25. Well, it isn't quite as cool as a muzzle fecker, but BB Stackers are almost as cool...
