Twin warheads are MIRV's, aren't they? Good old Whynot Minot! I've heard the stories. Was never a SAC trined bunny, did TAC my whole 14 years, but that beautiful bone with the Digi-camo Dave posted made me puke a little in my mouth... -
Pony
Spectre_USA replied to Klavs81's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The title scared me, as BLT posted something in another thread about a pony. I was anticipating a 4 legged, not low winged, one. Looks like a beaut! -

Mega-Fortress? Loved the series, and all the books Dale Brown put out, but I never even got off the ground in the computer game... -
Tacit Rainbow Guidance

It would be killer cool to have the capability, as it worked with fantasticly cool results in the old 7 Mhz. game, Tornado. Fire in a few Alarms, ten get back into the weeds. At IP, pop up to acquire targets, and get lit up by RADARs. The loitering Alarms see it, and fire down into the radar emitters as you streaked in. Very cool stuff it was... -

When it does, you might want to start a new screen shot thread, as I am sure there are gonna be a lot of these beauties snagged! -

I am sure you'd prefer the lady to answer, but until then, it is the print screen key. It is kind of slick, as ther is a WAV file attached that sounds like a shutter noise when you hit it. I use FRAPS, but keep that enabled, as I dig the feedback. After the 1st time that you do it, there will be a new folder in whatever sim you are flying's root called screenshots. There will be a BMP file for every key tap. BMP's are big and fluffy, so use PSP, or the GIMP to convert them to JPG before they fill up your hard drive... -
BVR Kills
Spectre_USA replied to Anthony W.'s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah, those are the types of engagements I like! Too bad we don't get credit for maneuver kills. Those are my favorite kind! -
BVR Kills
Spectre_USA replied to Anthony W.'s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
They rarely travel solo, so it is best to engage as many as possible before getting into boresight range, if possible. Things can happen pretty quick inside boresight range, and I'd rath have a nimble heater ready to rock than a clumsy Sparrow, ya know? -

OK, sure, it could be good decoration, but as you approach, if it has an animation, it would steer you through a TabVee wall! Oh, look, another little used word utilized! Man, this thread delivers... -

Cool! Now all we need is a little guy waving around a pair of Lackland Lasers around to guide you. What? Sure, yeah, I was kidding. It is just rare when you can get the LL term in a sentence, so I had to go with it... -

Spectre_USA replied to Anthony W.'s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm not that dumb? What a fine kick in the crotch for a guy trying to help you out. Sometimes they won't lock up due to angle off, relative heading, altitude (especially if below you), etc. Until you get the yellow diamond, you aren't locked, and SAHM nor AHM's will fire... -

Wowzers! These shots are to drool for. I don't see where I'll be flying anything but this terrain/campaign for quite some time with all the possible permutations. Many thanks guys, this has been one helluva body of work... -

Have done the same taxiing too close to the blast shields. It is a bummer ending a mission like that. Would love to start one in a hangar or hardened area by default... -

Spectre_USA replied to ClutchCargo22's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Welcome, CC, to these humble forums. That avatar is, well, certainly interesting. I had to look close to determine what was below the guys nose. But anyway, could not agree more on the DiD version of Tornado, it rocked, rolled & r00led! I especially miss when the laser designation camera stayed on target, and your actually saw the GBU tear in on the data link screen and IMPACT! The ALARM capability was another very nice item, along with many you've mentioned. If there was any one sim I'd like to see modernized, that would be it. Anyway, you caught a nerve, I had to respond. Enjoy this sim, it has many good points as well, and your stay here on CombatAce... -
