How to get a Transport Mission on an AC-130?
Spectre_USA replied to johnrey's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I saw it doing transport duties in my last Sep 08 patched WoE campaign. It had no guns hangin' out the side, and I was still driving with Dave on shotgun, but it was not CAS'ing... -
AC-130 gunsite footage
Spectre_USA replied to Icarus999's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I was thinking about a cockpit mounted screen like the Maverick MFD with a view left. That way spatial disorientation would be less severe, and it would be more aimable, with practice. Not the way the real Spectre rolls, but without multi-man crews, it may do in the virtual world? -

What did you fly IRL at the air show, FC? That must've taken some doing in the sim, as fast jets tend to blast by add wing rock when you go real slow. And prop jobbies going real fast are real slow for Gen 4 & 5 jets... -
Wyvern Released
Spectre_USA replied to SkippyBing's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Wow! The Wyvern and The Eagle to fly it from? A red letter day for the Royal Navy, I'd say! I am pretty sure NFG will be chuffed with the news... -

1> F-16's 2> A-10 3> F-15's/Typhoon toss-up. Depends on A2A or the usual mud-moving desires... -

ObjectData.cat
Spectre_USA replied to WombRaider's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I am pretty sure it is, may even be in the KB, as someone discussed it after the compiler was introduced. I am currently in the process of doing a "scorched earth" un-, then re-install, as I have an 80 GB external I am dedicating to the effort. Once done, will make straight installs folders, then patched install folders. Once save, I want to dabble with a fully merged build, CAT files included. It would be nice if it went beyond ObjectDATA01 to a 02, 03, etc. Just plug `em in! -

Wow! Just wow! That `pit is incredible, and the model looks Sierra Hotel. I don't see any hold-up, and it would be like the Huey is to the `Nam. Operation Desert Storm's symbol is the "Wobbly Goblin." Please package this puppy up and ship it, Sir? -
J-10A
Spectre_USA replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, I saw the match pretty quickly with the Lavi, but not so much with the X-31, as the canards are well forward on it. As to the skins shown, I had made my own, but just after I posted a pic in the screenie of the month thread, Mannie put together a skin that put mine to shame. It is the one you see pictured above. I had forgotten who had done this darker skin, mine was lighter IIRC, and he reminded me. Many Thanks Mannie, your decal placement was so much better as well... -

Spectre_USA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I tend to agree, as I made mine the Israeli Lavi, it looks very similar. Ooo, I oughta dig up a screenie of it. Watch this space for an edit... ___EDIT___ Right, here's a pair of the fictional fighters paired up at twilight, in keeping with the theme; Fun jet, be sure! -
Skin File Question
Spectre_USA replied to Spiff's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
If you were to include a link, that would help quite a bit, as I could not find that version terribly quickly. As to a folder names PIX, I would imagine it is, as you say, "junk." Probably just a few screen shots of the creators work in flight. And just to finish up, you did read the "readme.txt," yeah? It usually has helpful ideas on how to install and sometimes directory contents. -
This Can't be good.....
Spectre_USA replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Top notch? Most assuredly! On my system? Not bloody likely! I have enough problems with SA's 2, 6, 9, and their AAA buddies... ___EDIT___ Impressive video. Reminds me of the Patriot system a bit. Maybe Monty can be turned from the dark side? -

Please tell me this "development" is isolated to your own inner musings, and was not somehow added to a stock situation. I mean that would be mean. TK Sez, "Sure, go ahead and ratchet the time ahead to fly that shiny Raptor of Typhoon, you're gonna regret it!" -

Spectre_USA replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That is the one thing I am VERY looking forward to in this patch. Operation scorched earth to happen over the weekend, 10+ hour days until then. Anyone called for their wingie to splash an in parameters bandit yet? That was a 3 pager I had at Thirdwire's T/S forums. I recently announced it, so wonder if TK fixed it... -

Go read the readme.txt files, linked on the same page as the downloads, and decide for yourself if they are things you want fixed and/or added to your experience...
