F-111 question
Spectre_USA replied to Atreides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Isn't that the same one where a `Vark gets hit by a MANPAD, and when the capsule separates, it catches one as well? Hated that scene. As to the Spark-vark, it was advanced electronically, but based on an F-111A airframe. Big canoe mounted on top of the tail full of gizmos. It also had to fly high to get the ECM coverage for the strike package, which was never one of the `111's fortés... -

F-111 question
Spectre_USA replied to Atreides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Cool site, and it looks, from the glance I gave it, to be right. I was unaware the F-111G lived in Australia. Thought all they had were their C's. Too cool... -
F-111 question
Spectre_USA replied to Atreides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In real life it was the "F" model. Strongest engines, pave tack pod, updated avionics, comparatively. I believe this is also the case in the pack, and there were experimental ones being tested by the 431st TES, not TFS, as included. There were "G" models that were FB-111's with "D" models wings, and an "A" model with 90's style MFDS. Did I go overboard? I used to wrench the grey "WA" ones, so can get carried away... -

F-111F Stealth Camouflage
Spectre_USA replied to fondacaroalfonso's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
As an ex-Aardvark armorer, I applaud this effort! I would have hated to crawl on that critter in the middle of a California or Nevada summer day, but loved to have flown it! As to clicking on the pic to enlarge, why does it want to download an IPB file? ___EDIT___ PSP 7 seems to like IPB files as images just fine! Funny that I'd never heard of that extension before. As to the skin, it is fantastic! -

extract .ini from cat file for VISTA
Spectre_USA replied to coffeedave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
And that is where it gets tricky. It usually extracts to the root, and may have no effect as they each need to be in the correct folder. iam73 was working on a little more comprehensive version, but haven't hear from him in a bit... -

CAB files will not install on their own. If there is an MSI, right click and choose install. To check your version, click on start, run, and type in DXDiag. It will tell you all kinds of useful information about your system... -
A2G?!
Spectre_USA replied to Mannie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have switched to air threats whilst I had a Maverick selected, and saw them pictured, but never thought to take the shot! Probably a better hit percentage than the A-A missiles at this time... -

I also dislike having to worry about a wingman/men. Those 12 and 16 shippers usually mean a whole lot of micromanagement, which is the last thing you want while ingressing a target area, and you have mission overload as it is. Sure, being a master of your own destiny on hard settings, and having a palpable impact on the overall situation is great, but when the enemy has so much more autonomy, and your 16 shipper returns as a pair, there is something not quite right. A simple "f*** `em up" command to the squadron as you laze about out of harm's way would be a beautiful thing in my book... -

F-15E Strike Eagle Version 1.3
Spectre_USA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Holy flappin' snappers! I just found my favorite fighter-bomber. I usually take my 1st runs on the range, but muggered that all up trying to upgrade it, so I hit WoI. 8 shipper, 4 as escort in sandy Baz's versus Egyptian airfield. 3 & 4 neutralized the AAA, 2 took out the runway. No trade for the Baz's, so sent `em home and went solo on a `strip I saw close to the coast with MiG's parked under nets, 1st time for that. Used Mavericks to toast the ZSU's, and made a run; 4 of the 6 snake-eyes found their mark and popped the Egyptian MiG-21's in their bermed pens. Another pair of runs with 3 each only yielded one more, but that 1st one was one of the coolest I've experienced in the many flight hours of this series. Many thanks to USAFMTL, and all the contributors to this beautiful beast! -

Wow, incredible pictorial up over there. Looks like a well crafted mission, looking forward to it... -
I tend to agree. Been lovin' the Kout Mainscreen since it came out, this looks a worthy addition to the WoI series.

Also, it is fairly evident from what he typed as to where he got the info, himself, and other U2 pilots that lived it with him...
