Spectre_USA replied to chuckman's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
Just picked up `46 a week and a half ago for $25. I think I picked a good time, as there are lots of cool things going on these days in the IL-2 world... -
AI Capabilities in the ThirdWire Series
Spectre_USA replied to Lamanai's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Your English is very good, but I think you may have hit a snag. I am fairly confident that you cannot get AI to make these types of attacks, and the Spooky and Spectre gunships are player only type craft. I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure it is an engine limitation. -
I need help!
Spectre_USA replied to PIGHUNTA69's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The big thing is to READ THE REAMDE.txt. All the modders have different ways of doing things. Some will add sounds and stuff, so it goes off the objects folder, others may not, but 99% that I have seen will let you know how they want it installed, no one size fits all. -

Wow, the response over there is underwhelming. Mine was the last since 2 days ago? Odd... -

Very cool synopsis, GunRunner. I had always wondered about the ascension of the Mirage series, but not enough to actually research it. Thanks for the nutshell view. -

Well, if this lovely looking software sees the light of day! Australian Centre for Visual Technologies. <<-- This is a link. Check out the videos. Do a quick slide by with cam-coder in hand, and play with the recorded material to create most anything. et in a `pit, pan around, lay it out, bada-bing, bada-boom, the Raptor lives! I bet it will cost a flibbin' fortune, as they are advertising for PhD's lower on the page... ___EDIT___ Added the link indicator, as it all looked same-same to me in the Camo Dark scheme. -

Just to toss my half-farthing in, I lurve models that have nose wheel steering. Watching jets kind of twist into the active un-nerves me... -
1989 World in Conflict based campaign
Spectre_USA replied to ShadowRain X Zero's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
That OOB Mike463 (Weapons?) popped in looks dialed in. Was in USAFE earlier, 80 - 83, at RAF Bentwaters which also had a sister base, RAF Woodbridge, to house that A-10 "SuperWing." The Falcons flew in a few times from reserve units on deployment, so I can see a comfortable fit to have a squadron there as well. Would love it if the East coast of England had somehow made it into WoE, but the 81st did forward deploy to 6 FOLs in Germany. Very cool idea here, would like to see it make it, maybe even with the Su's 24 & 25. -
Slow lane?
Spectre_USA replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Also, if you load the "Strike Falcon," F-16XL up, it does seem sluggish, even in the desert campaign I added it to. Once the munitions are expended, it goes great guns! The Strike Eagle it is not, as the single engine is sufficient to get it aloft, but transit fully loaded is a bit tougher. -
JAS 39C Gripen Progress

All it needs is a Patriots 16-0 skin to be perfect! Or, we could save that for the Raptor... -
FFAR A2A
Spectre_USA replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not to mention a proximity fuse is much more sophisticated than IR or Radar guidance. Maybe on a timer, but that would be tricky as well. Impact would probably be the best suited to the era. -

Quick Question about JP233
Spectre_USA replied to tn_prvteye's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
IIRC, it is built into the model, so cannot be mounted on any other aircraft. I asked some time ago why it could not be jettisoned, and was told that it is part of the model. It is also referred to as an MW-1, the luftwaffe name for it, as it came out as their aircraft in AmokFlo's version. -
SU-25
Spectre_USA replied to kiep's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
IIRC, it was for a patch, and the full quote was, "Two weeks, be sure!" 3 guesses as to who said it, and the 1st 2 don't count. I was a moderator at the board it was written, and saw it my ownself... -

WoV? It is for Strike Fighters, as it is based on that terrain, not Vietnam.
