Spectre_USA replied to gerald14's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Now that would be a fun adversary for a Raptor or Eurofighter over the skies of 21st century Europe! Oh, yes, build that bad-boy... -
When new patches?
Spectre_USA replied to ojcar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm pretty sure it is a Combat Simulation cliché, that was derived from a post by Oleg Maddox of IL-2 fame when asked about an add-on/patch. "2 weeks, Be Sure!" -

Stay Away from Maxtor drives
Spectre_USA replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
This is why in my 20+ years of IT finagling, I have stuck with Seagate drives. My 1st one, chosen on a lark, was a 20MB MFM for a 286. I probably still have it around somewhere. It, and all others since, have been bullet resistant, so I have stuck with them... -
If you open up a web browser, Firefox, etc., type in the IP of 192.168.1.1 It will ask for a username/password, no name, default password for Linksys is admin. From there you can adjust port settings and a butt-load more!

There was a line in an INI somewhere that gave all kinds of diagnostic info, including FPS, but it has been years since I used it. Let me try a search... -

Spectre_USA replied to BUFF's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You bet your bottom buttock! As soon as I get it in my grubby little mitts, I shall be keying it in for a review due at the end of May. I've a feeling it's gonna write itself though... -

Same. Beta'd SF:P1, was asked to help with WoV, but was up to my ears in LOMAC, so no invite. It's gonna rock, they had some good folks in on it, so it's all good... -

Campaing don't save
Spectre_USA replied to ojcar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
As soon as you accept the results of a mission, the campaign saves. In order to continue, the campaign needs to be loaded from whatever you saved it as. When you click on the campaign from the front menu, it gives you the option to open a saved one, or start a new one. I hope this makes sense from my 12 hour day addled mind... -
Blast Radius!
Spectre_USA replied to fireengineer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
It was simply called Tornado, by DID, IIRC. I had it on the Amiga, but the 7Mhz processor wasn't getting it, so I finally upgraded to a DOS machine. That was one of the coolest sims ever. The ALARMS, the JP223's, and the lock on of laser guided munitions just rocked! You'd pass over your target, zoomed in, and see the GBU scream in and >BLAM!< I'd love to see that one modernized... -

Wasn't it one of those BDA dealios that whipped the heck outta the canopy of a Hornet over Afghanistan a few years back? It was a heckuva display of airmanship getting that puppy on the ground afterward. >Google, google< Ah, yeah, here I found it. Aviation Stories site. It does not seem to like Firefox, formats oddly. OK in IE, for some reason...
