Confirmed horse-hockey, as admitted by the horse's patoot himself; That last line just drips with so much irony it's hideous...

Yo Kout!
Spectre_USA replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Desert Storm campaign? Man, I would love to see that! I've been testing out MK2's Iran-Iraq, but would love to see that area in the early 90's, with a stiffer opposition than IRL. It also happens to be when I was active duty USAF, so would be doubly cool. Need some help testing it out? -
Update or horse-pucky? http://www.forsakethetroops.info/ Nobody's really sure if it's true or not, but one can only hope. I am looking around for confirmation...

That is, of course, under current campaign conditions. Future, as in after the purported patch, campaigns may have the NATO crew in their heels. This is when a bit of protection would be very nice. Not to mention of the odd foray by the opposition as it stands now. They did exist, and should be included just for that reason, IMHO. -

B-47E, what a cool new release!
Spectre_USA posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I just wanted to share my shake-down cruise this morning before heading in here to work. What a Sierra Hotel jet. One click of the single mission button, and I was setup with the perfect test run from my favorite add-on base, Korat. Off we go, as they say, into the wild blue yonder! And here this beauty goes, cleaning up and climbing out; I substituted the 3 & 4 man positions with a pair of F-5's for a built in escort, as they have the same basic livery. My #2 man went in high with slicks, I came in low with retarded bombs. Should have been `snakes in this era, but BSU-49's have the same effect. Bombs impacted interspersed, we were so on time and target! Since I only used 14 of my 28 Mk. 82's, I took a left hander and a run on the parallel airbase west of the 1st. My wingie rolled in with his last few bombs on the bases radar 1st, as I rolled in on the runway. No air opposition got withing striking distance, so we all headed home. Be it ever so humble; Possibly the most fun I've had on a shakedown run, it went flawlessy, and looked excellent. Thanks gentlemen, for making this already deep simulation even deeper with another excellent add-on.. -

Twin .40's? Muwuhaha! And a SAM site in the other thread? Hell yeah! NATO troops have protection! Let them Commies loose, we'll bury them. So there are shrapnel effects that do damage? You, sir Fubar, are a genius of other-wordly dimensions... -
Hey Spectre...Guess What?
Spectre_USA replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Alright! A working SAM system for the good guys. Great job, as I know I was unable to get it to work right. Coolio movie showing it too... -
B-2 Spirit Bomber
Spectre_USA replied to mdmckeever's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I may have a few minutes free time this evening. Let me see what I can whip up. I am, of course, kidding. I don't recall seeing the Spirit on the list of things being done. There's a very nice looking B-47 StrtoJet nearing completion, however... -

Oh, uh, boy and stuff. Just what we need, another thing to worry about while on an attack run. Nah, I jest. Good find. Could add a new dimension to the whole dealio. I just wish the NATO side could get a SAM that works to even things a bit... -

Wowzers! Those are some modelin' MoFo's! I saw your link before, but sisn't want to sign up for an Iranian AF website. Gave me the heeby-jeebies... :) -
Great website for fans of USAF fighter pilots
Spectre_USA replied to MK2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That is a cool link. Would be nice compilred in different ways. With the vaunted 101 to 0 Eagle record, I went searching for the Falcon's endeavors, to no avail. Mostly Eagle kills in the 40 from Desert Storm 1, my area of interest. Cheers for the link MK2... -

GMail will block zips, I dunno why. Rename it to *.piz, and resend. Once he gets it, rename it back to save. Had to do the same thing before. All that storage, with weird restrictions... -
Removing airspeed/altimeter/throttle gauge
Spectre_USA replied to flyboy28's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Welcome to the forums in a posting capacity. What I do to get rid of that clutter, as I am a screen-shot junkie, is pause, do CTRL+F12, and you then have free camera view, without the stuff in the bottom left, and upper right (RADAR). The only things not removable are the target cones, if you use the easy HUD, and the waypoint stuff/flaps/gear status in the top center. CTL+F12 declutter a lot, and I use PSP7 to edit out the rest... -
New Campaign coming...
Spectre_USA replied to Foofighter's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Heck yeah, this looks REALLY nice. It will be a good reason to fly around on this beautifully done area, which I've only done a few singles on so far... -
weapons loadout
Spectre_USA replied to wmorgan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've never heard of a way to do it, but would love to see an option like "duplicate load" button. If there is some other workaround, I'm all ears... -
Shoot. I shoulda tried that sepia toned dealio when I had this picture of me, on the left, and a squadmate when he came up in his 450 HP Stearman last year. It was a fun beast to blast around the Sierras in...

Any campaign editing experts out there?...
Spectre_USA replied to Rampstrike's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm no Experten by any stretch, but we do have a resident expert/site co-owner who I've tested a few fledgling campaigns for. He is MK2, who will be releasing the flood-gates once the campaign fix patch is released, if ever. He should be along shortly, so consider this a bump. Concerning 2 of your questions, the XXXCampData.ini should have a StartDate= line to get a timeframe started, and a MissionRate= line, though what it correlates with, I've no idea. The one's he's made are testing well, so I will defer. I would like to see the one you propose be created, sounds very cool... -
Does anyone have the F-15C skin for the 44th TFS?
Spectre_USA replied to Rampstrike's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It's right here, Botswana Bob; http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?download=453 He's right, it shows the ZZ tail-coded skin, but downloads empty. -
The pickin's are thin nowadays. Not like the heyday when you couldn't swing a cat in software store without knocking over a new combat sim. >Sniff< I miss those days. Anyway, `tis true, it depends on your era, and system. LOMAC is more modern, Russian oriented, and eats CPU cycles for warm-ups. SF:P1/WoV require less in the way of horsepower, but has great googly-mooglies of 3rd party add-on jets, terrains, skins, weapons, etc. And for the great GM's right out of the box, WWII is all but covered in the IL-2/FB/PF trifecta. Maps from all over the world, gigantic variety of prop, and a few jet, aircraft, and so many skins it's incredible. More stuff on the horizon, but some super choices at this time. Maybe get all of the above!
