  1. Excellent Skin, good work! Not sure what you could add to it, maybe a squadron aircraft number on the side or some camo added to the green?
  2. Thanks, the starboard lower wing tip and aileron were shot clean off when my Wingman shot me down, so the mechanic went around the back to one of the wrecks we have for spares and got a new wing tip, he hasn't had time to paint it yet though - other than that he cut some fabric squares up to cover all the bullet holes - some of the rounds even went clean through the fuselage and came out of the other side!
  3. Thanks Morris. Indeed Olham, She's abit shot up at the moment - but don't worry, we can rebuild her!
  4. Trying out a new paint scheme for the ol' Tripe:
  5. Pick your Plane and make your Mod

Not thinking about performance for a min, I'd quite like to take a bomb or two with me in my Sopwith Tripe, as I do miss dropping bombs on people every now and again - surely I can just carry one under my arm and hope no one notices. I think I'd like parking sensors on most of my crates, to give warning whenever some "heroic" German Pilot feels like becoming one with the enemy - although that might be a bit much for a 1917 mechanic.
  6. I suppose it's a bad sign when you actualy start to have dreams about Over Flanders Fields, like I did last night... I was flying in my RNAS-1 Sopwith Tripe DiD Campaign, at least at the time I thought it was a Sopwith Triplane - but for some reason as time went on it morphed into a strange mix between a Sopwith Triplane and an SE5, as it had the cockpit of an SE5 and was a Biplane - but for some reason I could've sworn it was a Sopwith Triplane, as is the strangeness of dreams. I was flying over some water - I think it was the Zeelands in the Netherlands, as I fly there a lot in WW2OL, but this was an Over Flanders Fields version of it. I got into a fight with a mud-brown coloured Fokker Dr.1 just over the coast - but managed to get above him and fire into his engine, which then set on fire and he spun out - after that for some reason I got into a fight with a group of American SPADs - not sure what type they were as I'm not realy up to date with SPAD variants, equally not sure why we were fighting eachother, what with being Allies and all - but like I said, as is the strangeness of dreams. I remember getting one on my tail and not being able to shake him off - then I pulled up and hung in mid air - after which there was a tearing noise and I started to spin out (presumably a SPAD crashed into me from behind) - after levelling out it went to external view and I could see that both of my port wings (It's a Biplane Triplane remember ) were torn at the root, and were flapping around like mad, as such I headed south towards land and tried to set it down on a beach. While it was very hard to control I did manage to set it down right on the sand of a beach, but then the port wheel sunk just slightly then it all went black and "You have Died" after which I remember being very sad at losing my DiD Pilot, then I woke up. It's a good thing that my DiD Pilot is back home on leave for a few days for his Birthday (my Birthday) and being awarded his medal, as I think I'm starting to go slightly insane... The entire flight all seemed totally normal and Logical from the begining to the end while I was dreaming it, it's an odd thing the Mind.
  7. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

Sorry to see you having to leave us old Chap, although I hope that whatever it is that's taking up your time brings you happiness and enjoyment. Hoping that you'll return to us one day.
  8. It was yesterday morning, as far as we're concerned in the DiD campaign.
  9. Here's a screenshot from my latest DiD Campaign Balloon Defence mission, it's no wonder people keep crashing into eachother with all these planes zooming around doing their own thing in such a small piece of sky:
  10. I also agree that it depends on the game, I've learnt quite a lot from playing different computer games over the past years, for example before I started playing OFF P2 I didn't realy know much about WW1 Air combat as I was more into WW2 - other than the mainstream Sopwith Camel and Fokker Triplane stuff, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Sopwith Triplane before I got OFF (shocking I know! ) Equally they can be a key to unlocking an interest in something that you continue to research out of game time, the same can be said for Films and TV series (My main interest in WW2 probably began with watching the Battle of Britain film when I was young, and until I watched the Sharpe TV series I never realy had much of an interest in the Napoleonic Wars.) Granted for every one game like those there are another twenty where the only thing I learn is that the general gaming public is easily pleased. All I know is I've been soldiering in the Operation Flashpoint / Armed Assault / ArmA II series for almost half of my life, and that hasn't had any negative effects on me. 1: 2, Target that Add Reply Button. 2: Engaging!
  11. I've been meaning to make a video like this for a while, but never had the material or the software for it, but now I've gotten around to it and downloaded the Sony Vegas free trial last night to make this. It's a trailer/montage/intro to the Dead is Dead Campaign we've been running - more specifically the British Scout (RNAS-1) part. Enjoy: (You can view it in HD as well.)
  12. Over Flanders Fields - Memories

Sure, be my guest - I'd be glad to have it on the page, thanks
  13. Over Flanders Fields - Memories

Thanks Chaps, glad you liked the video.
  14. Mick Mannock

Nice work Wish I could shoot them down like that.
  15. Nice work Olham, reminds me of those late WW2 / Korean War aircraft with the metalic bodies and brightly coloured decals.
  16. Sorry if this is a question/suggestion that's been thrown about before and dismissed, but I haven't heard a response about it before and it's been nagging me for a while. I know that the reason we can't see the Propeller of our aircraft 99% of the time in the cockpit is because of a CFS3 issue where the Pilot has to be a certain distance from the prop to be able to see it, so there's nothing much you can do about that. But I see in a number of craft the rotary engine spins around and can be seen from the cockpit view, such as the engine at the back of the D.H.2 - also the Sopwith Triplane has a little fan to the right which spins around at different speeds / directions depending on (I presume) the engine power. So I was wondering if it wouldn't be possible to totally remove the "in built" CFS3 propellers and replace them with 3d props attached to the aircraft that spin in much the same fashion as the radial engines and Sopwith fan? Is it a technical thing - or would it just look abit rubbish?
  17. Perhaps obvious question

Thanks Duce, great video - it's good to see what these things look like in "High defenition" so to speak, as opposed to in old film etc.
  18. Perhaps obvious question

I tested the Sopwith little prop like you said Uncleal, and you're right that when the engine is off or when you're slow the prop spins dependant on the airspeed, but I tried changing the throttle with the engine on at both 100mph and 160mph and both times the little prop changed depending on the throttle, at 100% throttle it spins quickly anti-clockwise, at 0% throttle it spins quickly clockwise and at around 50% throttle it stops spinning or switches between clockwise and anti-clockwise, this is all while it's going at relatively the same speed, don't know what that means though.
  19. Perhaps obvious question

Thanks, I thought it might be something to do with the looks of it, although I wouldn't realy know what it'd look like with a proper sized prop running at full speed, as all we have to compare it with atm is the one in the Triplane - thanks for the answer.
  20. Perhaps obvious question

Thanks for the tip Olham, I already fly the Triplane with the 2nd smallest zoom level and don't think I've seen it in that, I've seen the prop blur in the SE5 and the Strutter sometimes by looking slightly to the side, it's just abit odd that it appears and disappears - I think it depends upon how far away the camera is from the propeller, so it will be different with each aircraft. Thanks for clarifying the use of the little prop in the Triplane Uncleal - as for the D.H.2 cylinders, do you mean you can't see them when running in real life, or in OFF? As I can see them spinning all the time in OFF, even while the engine is running at full power. (I saw them this morning looking back during my balloon attack for example.)
  21. Hmm...Interesting re:-Terrain

That landscape with the trees reminds me a lot of the landscape in Operation: Flashpoint and in ArmA II, looks good. I remember a while back seeing a video of a 3D engine that went from outer-space, through the atmosphere and onto the surface of the planet itself, now that looked good! Was the perfect sort of thing for an online space game or MMO, problem is these days most developers are fine with making enclosed boxes without much character or scope. EDIT: This is the one:
  22. Keeping saved pilots

Also, as Computers are one of the great mysteries of the world it probably wouldn't harm to do some sort of Pilot file rain dance or sacrifice an old RAM card at the altar of PC wizardry.
  23. A Claim made by Udet

Not sure if I understand exactly what you mean, but if you want it to look like it's a bit faded (ie not laser accurate) you could make a new transparent layer, write the text on that and then blur it slightly? Or if you wanted to make certain letters look more faded you could user the rubber (eraser) to pick out certain parts that were chiped or damaged. Like this for example:
  24. A Claim made by Udet

You can probably find different worn typewriter fonts for download on the internet, I remember when I was trying to get a good font they were quite afew that were much too worn - also you might try making your text colour a shade of grey rather than black, as that makes the text look less sharp.
  25. With my MS Sidewinder 2 the MG, Stall and Landing effects are very strong (infact at night time I worry that the rumble of the joystick will wake people up ) - but there is no return-to-centre what so ever, so (pardon the innuendo) my stick is limp. this happens 9 out of 10 times I play OFF, the other 1 time it will have return-to-centre power, but none of the effects will work (like MG shake, etc.)
