  1. Couldn't you try making a new Pilot - with the same name as your old one, then fly a mission with the new guy - after which you copy all your files over and "replace" the new one with your old one's stats?
  2. Does the UnlimitedPilotsbak file do anything important? - If you don't have that you could maybe copy your UnlimitedPilots file and name the copy UnlimitedPilotsbak usualy when I back up a Pilot I copy the Pilots files (PilotDossier, PilotLog, PilotClaims) and UnlimitedPilots and UnlimitedPilotsbak from the documents folder (CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields) - although of late I've just been copying the entire documents file just to be on the safe side.
  3. That's an odd one, are you sure that the mission actualy finished properly? (i.e. the whole "Welcome Back! Another 43 minutes logged!" pop up thing etc) as I've seen that some people get that problem where they can't finish their missions. Other than that it could be something to do with the number of kills listed in your Pilot files - as maybe it's out of sync with number of claims (i.e. more claims than kills), so it thinks the ones you just shot down are linked to claims you've already made? (so for example if it thought that your new kills were kills 18 and 19, but you already had claim number 18 and 19, so it linked them to those claims?) I'm guessing your claims are still there as they're in the Pilot folder that you copied. Bear in mind that everything I just said is total guess work based on only minor knowledge of the workings of OFF.
  4. I'm not sure what I'm more of, sickened by the fact that something like that could happen, or amazed by the fact that you can survive that sort of thing. Although if I ever were to cheat in the Campaign, I'd be sure to duck if I ever see a nice restored Albatros Flying at me as I walk down the street.
  5. £1m Question for The OBD skinners

I guess I'd better enjoy my black and white checkered Tripe before General Melchett yells at me again.
  6. Imaginary Grief

Does anyone else find themselves becoming saddened when they hear that a certain Wingman has become one of the glorious dead? The longest lasting imaginary wingman in my DiD campaign, Flight Lieutenant Michael Webb, was killed in action today, he'd managed to survive since the end of last year, the poor Chap had just had his 5th kill confirmed as well! (Incidentally he also had the same name as a character from the Bill, go figure.) To Mickey, may he rest in imaginary peace.
  7. Imaginary Grief

I suppose if you realy wanted to up the immersion you could keep track of who gets shot down in your missions and then edit the dossier to say which ones did die, so they're classed as actualy being killed - but then you edit files at your own risk as they say.
  8. Imaginary Grief

I sometimes get angry when I see a wingman get shot down, then take dangerous risks to avenge them by killing the swine who shot him down, such as chasing them low over enemy lines. (They often seem to withdraw after shooting someone down it seems) - I suppose I shouldn't realy, else I end up like the Red Baron... I'll have to try that getting drunk after a wingman dies thing, just for the sake of realism of course, should be interesting come Bloody April
  9. Anti-Ubisoft DRM petition to sign

The thing that gets me, is that this will probably just result in: Ubisoft Guy: "Hmm, No one's buying Silent Hunter 5, obviously this means the game is rubbish, couldn't possibly mean that our glorious DRM is at fault, best cancel the Silent Hunter series."
  10. Ubisofts DRM servers fail -

The funny thing is that I recently bought both Napoleon: Total War and Silent Hunter 5, and NTWs Steam has been more annoying than Ubisofts DRM, in that I haven't had a single problem with the Ubi DRM on SH5 up to now (guess I've just been lucky), but got very annoyed with NTW due to the fact that I pre ordered it, the postman delivered it the day before release, but the all mighty computer said "No playing for you petty Human, you must wait until Midnight!" (Surely part of the point of pre-ordering is that you sometimes get the game before release and get to play it early.) Don't for a moment think that I in any way agree with the Ubisoft DRM, mind, they both need a good kick up the whatsit. (The annoying thing is that I've found both games highly enjoyable thus far, go figure.)
  11. If you could go back in time, would you?

I suppose I should mention the film "Biggles: Adventures in Time", where in an American Chef from the 80's goes back in time to 1917 Europe to have a bash at the Hun with Biggles and co. Don't expect a serious film, however. It's the 80's, what can you do.
  12. If you could go back in time, would you?

I wouldn't go back in time to take any part in history, if only because of what might happen because of it, however if I could go back to observe famous events and people, such as Arthur Wellesley, Horatio Nelson, etc to see if they are anything like what History makes them out to be. (Like some sort of Dr Who / Bill and Ted affair.)
  13. Women, you gotta love 'em

I'm guessing the reference is because of the face on the trains. My Childhood was basicly Thomas the Tank Engine, Postman Pat and Fireman Sam. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSFuXIKM7WI
  14. Hopefully this is just one of those stories that pop up every now and again to try to get people angry at "The Man", there's usualy a "The Government is trying to get rid of the BoB Memorial/the Red Arrows/HMS Victory/Yorkshire*" headline every now and again. Signed just to be on the safe side, of course. *Last option may not be 100% true.
  15. At first I'd assumed that changing the front mounted guns for wing mounted guns was so that at night time the Pilot could fire at a target without the flash from the guns ruining his night vision as they might if they were infront of him, or were muzzle flashes not an issue in WW1? Maybe that was just an added bonus.
  16. Thanks, although I have to admit my finding that was more to do with me searching for pictures of all different Sopwith variants until I found one with twin wing mounted guns, as opposed to any prior knowledge of the craft.
  17. Sopwith "Comic" Camel Interceptor?
  18. OMG..I don't believe I just watched this!

    That answers that then.
  19. OMG..I don't believe I just watched this!

I was questioning if it was a normal reinactment with real planes, or if it was CGI, it seemed to be quite "extreme" for a normal reinactment as they don't normaly push them that hard, unless it just looked like that because of the camera angle, tried seeing if the 109 had a Merlin engine like the Spanish ones they used in the Battle of Britain film, but it's hard to tell from behind. I wouldn't have believed it was real war footage if only because (hopefully) no real Spitfire or combat Pilot in general would be stupid (or brave, depending on your point of view) enough to dive right infront of the guns of an enemy fighter so that he could kill the lead one, when he could have just gone for the back one, especially as it would have been 2 vs 1 at that point. Whereas it's clearly just done for dramatic effect so that they could film it.
  20. OMG..I don't believe I just watched this!

Here's another one with questionable reality but very convincing if it is fake (i.e. CGI as opposed to a reinactment):
  21. OMG..I don't believe I just watched this!

The landing definitely looks fake, plus the parts where the camera goes blury etc and just the general feel of it tbh.
  22. Great shots, Guys. Seeing as the DiD Campaign is grounded again due to bad weather I thought I'd update the skin for my Tripe: I'm probably stretching King's regulations abit too far, but if anyone asks I'll just claim that it's the new winter camo.
  23. The X was the Y of its day...

Gotha would be a Heinkel 111 I suppose. SE5 as a Hawker Tempest perhaps?
  24. Your Longest Career Cheating Death

The main thing I'd advise to avoid death would be to never attack an enemy craft that is already being engaged by a friendly aircraft and always make sure you have room to break away from your enemy in an instant, probably 80% of the times I've died in previous campaigns and missions is because I've either crashed into what I was chasing, or someone else has crashed into me. By the way Chappy, the Squadron isn't posted up at the coast anymore, we thought that while you're away we'd move the entire Squadron down south near Cambrai to try to give you the slip.
  25. OT Message to the Tornado Crew

Nothing like the howl of a Vulcan Bomber to make small children wet themselves though. My older brother stood under one in a museum years ago and even that made him start crying.
