  1. Incredible piece of Flightsim movie making

Great vids - say one thing for Cliffs of Dover it looks bloody good both graphically and damage model wise! Here's my best attempt at a Battle of Britain video, graphics look naff by comparison, mind. And those fancy 3d animated crewmen make my dodgy cardboard cutout wonky eyed Spitfire Pilot look amateurish! (I still get nervous watching this video when the 109s start attacking us - just the thought of those yellow nosed.. fellows flying all around me, diving out of the Sun chucking their 20mm cannon shells at me at every opportunity gives me the shivers! Especially seeing as I was seemingly playing Michael Caine in that particular piece, and we all know what happened to him!)
  2. Your nicest Christmas present?

Got me one of them there Galaxy Tab 10.1s, now I can read the OFF Forums on the Train to and from University! Have to pay extra for the privilege of using the internet on the train mind, despite paying to be there, even though chances are you won't get a seat anyway! grmbl grmbl grmbl etc... Other than that I got a 1:48 Tamiya Messerschmitt Bf109E-4 (I'm going to crash it I'm afraid). I also bought Sagittarius Rising recently, although I've only just started it really. Brings me back to my Galaxy Tab - I keep downloading random books and the like, already downloaded a years worth of archived Royal Aeronautical Society 'Aerospace International' and 'The Aerospace Professional' along with some light reading such as Sun Tzu's Art of War and War and Peace, after all - you never know when the Train might be delayed by 17 years or so, this is Britain after all!
  3. Does P4 get it's own name?

Over Flanders Fields: Blood in the Air Over Flanders Fields: Blood in the Sky Over Flanders Fields: Blood in the Clouds Over Flanders Fields: Blood amongs the Clouds Over Flanders Fields: Death in the Air Over Flanders Fields: Death in the Sky Over Flanders Fields: Death in the Clouds Over Flanders Fields: Death amongs the Clouds Over Flanders Fields: Blood on Canvas Over Flanders Fields: Red Skies Over Flanders Fields: Scarlet Skies (Apologies if they've been mentioned before)
  4. Favorite Non War Aviation Film

I'm quite fond of the Jimmy Stewart trilogy of Flight of the Phoenix, Strategic Air Command and The Spirit of St. Louis, although I think most of it is from watching Jimmy Stewart as a Pilot playing a Pilot.
  5. I do quite like the idea of flying around with a Pistol it must be said - although I think it's just a generic *bang-bang point in the general direction of enemy* thing, rather than something you could use the ironsights with - then again I can't say I've ever tried aiming down the ironsights of a gun whilst flying an aeroplane at the same time, so you never know, It would be nice if they actually had any pre war stuff for it though, where it would be more useful, with unarmed aircraft and the like. Streamers would be good if they were for Flight Leaders though, I'm not sure if that's what they were for historically - but I think they were in the film Aces High. It'd be nice to have a way of easily finding your Flight Leader after a Dogfight, for when you need to form up again.
  6. OT My Favourite War Film

My favorite War film overall is A Bridge Too Far, but that's primarilly because my Grandad took part in the real Operation Market Garden, so when I watch it it feels like it has a personal significance. My favorite War film purely for what it is, is The Battle of Britain - in fact it's so good that if not for the personal interest in A Bridge Too Far, it would be my favorite war fiilm. As for The Longest Day or Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day every time. (I also watched The Eagle has Landed yesterday - and like it for much the same reasons! - And I like the themetune as well!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_7q9alkcA8
  7. OT For FSX/FS9 users

Thanks Widow! I've been meaning to try out the A2A Spitfire Mk. I through the valleys of photo realistic Cumbria from accurately modelled Airfields with hand placed trees and fancy weather effects - but it runs like crap! Hopefully it'll help!
  8. Merry Christmas

You can't have Christmas without Morecambe and Wise! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wPasSMU-zM
  9. Merry Christmas

    Merry Christmas everybody!
  10. I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark here, but I'm getting the feeling that maybe Olham isn't the biggest fan of Multiplayer Air Combat games.
  11. Do you like Christmas?

It's as we feared doctor! A serious case of Grumpyoldsoditis, I'm afraid it may be terminal!
  12. The ones with the Spit with the snapped prop blades and the P-47s with bent props and cowlings are just ever so slightly insane!
  13. OT: Attention Fantasy RPG Fans

Ah - ragdoll fun! Is it strange that sometimes when I kill bandits in the wilderness I like to pick up their dead bodies and throw them off cliffs / into rivers - or over waterfalls for a double whammy! That's if I don't manage to do it while they're still alive of course... (Uh oh, better not tell the Red Cross!)
  14. 50th Birthday today

Now now, you're not that old really - I mean, you're only slightly more than twice as old as me, if that makes you feel better! Happy Birthday!

When Morrowind was new the phrase of the day used to be the one where the Imperial Guards kept going 'What say you?' Seemingly for a while after Morrowind came along everyone used to greet everyone by saying that.
  16. I'm actually Emperor of the World several times - so who cares what they think?
  17. Here's a ponderer, if you were to take this seriously (and obviously no one is - thank god! ) If we were to be placed under laws such as the Hague Conventions and Geneva Conventions, would we - being presently employed in simulated warfare between the years of 1914 and 1918, be subject to those laws which were in effect during said timeframe - or would we be subject to current world military law! Also I must say that I find it very insulting that they are accusing me of being a War Criminal! For example when I play realistic games such as ArmA 2 or Falcon 4 I always follow the rules of engagement - I don't go around shooting civillians in ArmA 2 or executing prisoners damn it! I demand an apology right now!
  18. * * PHASE 4 PREVIEW MOVIE 1 ! * *

Bloody good! The AI deffinitely seem to zoom around a lot more in the sky - and look a lot better at low altitude! Loved the Rifle armed observer, early war fun! And the new manager looks amazing! Plus nice to see some Zeps' and Heavy Bombers.
  19. And here are a pair of generic videos of general gameplay (with ingame sounds): Bomber Escort: Close Air Support:
  20. At the moment I mainly play 'WW2 Online: Battleground Europe' which is a 'combined arms' multiplayer game, which includes air forces (although it's mostly centred on Infantry combat, then Armour, then Air, then finally three blokes in the Navy! ) - that I play with my Squad (19RAF, after No. 19 Squadron RAF - *Cough* Sopwith Dolphin *Cough*) Here are a few of my videos: (Note: not ingame sound effects.) This one is from a while back when the Luftwaffe players said they'd 'destroy the Royal Air Force and bomb all of their Factories with our mighty bombers' so we shot down all their mighty bombers and went home for tea and cake! And this one is from a realism event to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Battle of Britain:
  21. I'm starting to think that's the standard Fokker Dr.1 parking position.

The easiest way is to get someone to shoot you in the knee with an arrow, 100% guaranteed to make you no longer be what you were beforehand! I can do it for you if you want, for a small fee of course.

Can't say I've noticed any problems since the patch other than that I had to uninstall one of the mods I was using as it made the menu text invisibile. Then again I can't say I'd noticed any problems before the patch. The only bug I seem to run into constantly is that animals shoot up to about 200ft in the sky, hover for a while then fall to their deaths - random!
  24. OT: Attention Fantasy RPG Fans

Little RP tip: If you're tired of your character's current hairstyle, or think he needs a shave, you can open up the character creation menu again by pressing ` to open the command bar, then type showracemenu This brings up the race selection/character creation menu the same as when you start a new character - beware though, certain cosmetic values seem to reset to default, for example skin tones. You can also rename your character using this if you so wish to. (Also note it's probably best not to change your race as I think that resets some stats - can't say I've ever tried it though.) I never knew why they didn't add a barbershop to TES games.

Aye the kill animations add for some very cinematic stuff! It's a shame they don't have anything like that for ranged combat (such as the camera following the arrow in slow motion, or some such) like the stuff they have in Fallout... Here's my video of the Battle for Windhelm! 1080HD, etc!: (minor war based spoilers in video): (Note: for the video run I played it on easy rather than the level I normally use, as it's a bit of a hack-fest to kill the many many many NPCs, and on higher difficulty it takes a while and requires a lot of breathing time to regain health and the like, so it just works better in video form if it's on easy. )
