  1. NIST 800-88 Enhanced Secure Erase

what it does is change the in-drive encryption key, and it only takes seconds to do as opposed to DoD5220 block erase, which can take days on a 100 gig drive

Degaussers are used to erase magnetic data on disk drives. They create high intensity magnetic fields that erase all magnetic recordings in a hard disk drive, including the sector header information on drive data tracks.

(tells the head where to sit)

Oh yeah, cater, you think it was wise mentioning it in a open forum, big brother and echelon are always watching.

  2. The Italian Job

The day the earth stood still

One of those horror movies, they all blend together.

The songs are the worst, I can't even remember how many great old songs got dug up again and butchered by whorely cyrus and the myriad of Britney clones. I actually heard a woman try to do Steppenwolf's magic carpet ride in a commercial.

If suddenly the jonas sisters redo stairway to heaven or any other brilliance from zeppelin or the 60s and 70s I might actually shoot someone.

Just about the only song remake that was worth anything was the "I'm a believer" they did for shrek.

Ironically, alot of the awesome older songs from the 60s and 70s were actually remakes of songs from the 30s 40s and 50s. But when they did them, they took really bad songs and made them awesome. Anyone ever look for Cream's Sunshine of your love(great) and find the old Ella Fitzgerald(ubercrap)version ?

The horror. The horror (and they damn well better not try to redo that one either)

you are one angry young man, arent you? all movies and songs have been done, get over it, and dont start yellin at me. :P

  3. Wow, takes a lot of faith and gonads the size of basketballs to do that. Thats just like a time machine, back to orville and wilbur in Indiana.

He as getting a little cocky there at times(notice the one finger hold on the collective), but then Ive heard that certain aircraft take a very light touch and dont respond well to being hamhanded.

  4. December 25th, 1914. Somewhere in nomans land, amongst the death and destruction, mankind, or at least a small part of it came to its senses. Men from opposing sides slowly walked out into the kill zone, shook hands, exchanged gifts of food and cigarettes, and even had a game of soccer.

What was it that made them attempt this? Do we have it in our hearts to do this today? Could we? Sadly, its a more innocent time that I think is long lost,,,,

  5. I like to walk up, peer into the cockpit, turn around and ask em, "Where do you put the quarters in?", while digging through my pocket change. Or say somethin like "I flew this in FS98, I bet I could do it for real, lets go!"

BTW, yes, I am cool, just because, grin.gif

  6. Reminds me of when the battle for Hue kinda/sorta concluded, with a group of our men hoisting the flag. Well, C&C didnt like that and they sent off a nasty radio message sayin "Take that flag down, its not U.S. soil"

I think the response went something like, "Well, you just come down here and take it down."mad.gif

Forgive me, but I cant recall if it was army or marines, hats off to both groups tho.

  7. Ive seen them all before, for the most part. Countless documentaries, recreations, movies. Ive played many computer war games, flight simulators and such. Valiantly flying through the blue skies, vanquishing the enemy, all without staining my hands with the blood of fellow humans.Without fear, without pain, without sorrow.

A convenient buffer for those of us that didnt have to be subjected to the realities of war.The bravery of being out of range.

But today is different, in a way I cant describe, but will try.

    WW2 in HD.

A few new clips not seen before, but largely the same footage, remastered, so to speak.President Roosevelts decision to release uncensored film footage to the public was a huge one. The blood, the carnage. The only thing missing is the smell. The bittersweet coppery smell of blood, the thick stench of rotting flesh.

And then, a quote from a foot soldier on some central pacific island.

"Some guys are collecting gold teeth as souveniers. I collect a few and put them in my pocket. Things are getting out of hand, and I begin to wonder, what the hell are we doing here?"

And then, Saipan. Yes, Ive seen the footage before, my mind somehow letting it go by without thinking about it to deeply.

But somehow this time, its,,,, different. Civilians, jumping to their death.

MY GOD. How can they do this?

I sit and I weep, uncontrollably, almost 70 years after the fact. For people I never knew. And I ask myself, when will we finally not need to do this? When will we learn from our past?

And another quote from a field nurse in France in 1944.

"What do you do when you run out of tears?"

I hope I never have to learn that.

This is not an anti-war rant, nor an invitation to debate, these are just my thoughts.

Please think this over, more deeply than you ever have, and ask yoursel, when will we not have to do this.
