  1. Are you specifying one pod in the loadout.ini file?
  2. For years I have cut and pasted fixes from threads into what I call document directories specific to each sim, and one labeled for common use. Some are out dated as new patches came out. I still refer back to them, especially when doing a re-install. Can I zip this up and send them in?
  3. Did you follow JSF Aggies' install for third party terrains? http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=12230 The airfield lod's are in the VietnamSEA.cat file. Did you enter the location of the VietnamSEA cat file in the Korea.ini file? Here's my example location shown below. Or, I believe you can make a copy of the VietnamSEA.cat and put it into your Korea terrain directory, but that uses up more space on your HD. CatFile=C:\Program Files\Third Wire\Wings Over Vietnam\Terrain\VietnamSEA\VietnamSEA.cat
  4. That's correct. I have KAW installed in a seperate WOV installation.
  5. Didn't think about the campaign settings for the MiG's. Now I see that they are set to CAP=100 and INTERCEPT=100. So more thoughts on the issue. What about changing to CAP=0 so they wouldn't try to protect ground assets? Also, what about the idea of shortening the combat range in the aircraft file and eliminating the southmost NVAF airbases? And, I see that my aircraft.ini files have all the mission capabilities under PRIMARY and SECONDARY. Would that override the campaign file setting? Wouldn't think so, but I've found out that a loadout file overrides a weapondata file setting. So, maybe these need to be reduced to just intercept.
  6. Rattlersnakes in Arizona are overrated. I've been here 25 years and only seen six or seven, and I've been around the desert and mountains. Scorpions, that's another issue.
  7. You have to go into the MissionControl.ini and edit the following default mission altitude lines: [Altitude] Normal=7620 Low=3048 VeryLow=304.80 High=9144 VeryHigh=10972.8 These are my personal settings for WOV. The sim seems to pick Normal altitude most often for a mission. As far as I know, you cannot manually edit the mission altitude from the planning map.
  8. Glad to see some thought (and hard work) going into this campaign modding. I guess the front line doesn't play as big a role in the campaign as I thought, in fact it seems to create some negative issues. However, I think Johan is narrowing in on the right concept. On the issue of the MiG's appearing in the South. Could altering the combat range in the aircraft.ini limit their involvement south of the DMZ (especially if the closest NVAF bases are eliminated)? Or, change their role to only intercept, MiGCAP, etc. and eliminate Sweep.
  9. Don't know. Though that it had something to do with the designation of "fighter", "attack", or "bomber" in the aircraft.ini file. The Stuka file says "attack", but trying "fighter" and "bomber" didn't help. Still wouldn't divebomb. Maybe the AIData settings?
  10. This is what I had in mind for the front line:
  11. Good idea, although if US supplies are reduced too much, would they face an overrun too soon? That would probably have some effect and mimic RL as there would be a continuous stream of units over time. Would that require that additional units be added to the campaign file to maintain this supply of units? Good find on turning on the Front Line locations. I set it to see all the locations and now see that it goes to the map edge. I still think that wrapping the front line closer in would have some effect. I would like to see it go south down along the Thailand/Laos/Cambodia border and then back up north through S. Vietnam, meandering in and out from the coast to create enclaves around the major bases like Saigon, Da Nang, Pleiku, and Khe Sanh; then back across the DMZ and up to Yankee Station. Is the only way to set the points for the front line by trial and error coordinates in the Movement file?
  12. Stwa, I still have your original Korean War terrain files and used them for a long time. I like your colors better than the current version. More greens. Make another and I'll try it. Just noticed you're up the road from me. Great weather we're having.
  13. Charles' readme says delete and replace the original terrain file altogether, so I think it's a complete terrain file.
  14. Do these AI settings in the AircraftObject.ini have any effect? [DiveBombAI] LookoutAngle=360 DefensiveAngle=360 ChanceDefensiveTurn=100 ChanceBreakTurn=90 ChanceHardTurn=90 ChanceTurnDirection=100 ChanceContinue=15 RollInRange=6000.0 RollInAlt=2300.0 PullOutRange=600.0 PullOutAlt=300.0 ReleaseAlt=1000.0 SecondPassRange=4000.0 SecondPassAlt=1600.0 FightWithoutAmmo=100 ReleaseCount=25 ReleaseInterval=0.8
  15. Fastcargo, You're great at creating weapon models. How about taking a break from the high-tech stuff and re-do the AN-M30, AN-M64 and AN-M65 models (while you wait to do your taxes). The 500-lb and 1000-lb are using the same 3d model and all three don't match the quality of the other U.S. WWII bombs.
  16. Yep. Go to the Knowledge Base and start with Era Specific Install. Then, go to Installing 3rd Party Terrain. Those are the basic instructions. I had the specific instructions for installing KAW in WOV somewhere (I usually create a notepad document and save tips from the forums), but right now I can find it, and I haven't been able to find the forum thread. If I find it, I'll post it here. Doesn't Charles' Korean War Terrain work? http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3329
  17. Understood. I was assuming that TeTeT had already built in the nodes and routes in the Steel Tiger campaign. That's a big part of the problem with the original WOV campaign, no ground war. It was noted in this thread that CAS missions were occuring in Laos with this campaign, but none in S. Vietnam, so I think that feature is now implemented. I was suggesting that moving the front line closer to the American bases would bring the missions in closer and activate missions in S. Vietnam. Somewhere I remember reading that if the targets were set up correctly the CAS and Armed Recon missions would occur if the targets were close in (actually I think this thread referred to anti-shipping strikes). I've installed Middle East Wars and it has a long, snake-like front line that goes from coast to coast (almost). Maybe a front line like this in WOV instead of the short, single line at the DMZ, which is not tied to any feature on the inland side.
  18. Yes, bring it on. KAW is one of my favorites.
  19. I installed Steel Tiger on a separate WOV installed a couple of weekends back and tried it. Got CAS missions in Laos and some just over the DMZ as if the ground forces were pushing north. Nothing in S. Vietnam, much as TeTeT had noted. If the front line has to be one continuous line, I wonder if it were drawn as a single line meandering around the DMZ and then cutting through the middle of S. Vietnam, halfway between the Gulf of Tonkin and the Laotian border, would that bring some of the CAS missions into S. Vietnam as the action would be closer to the American airbases? Would that generate any Armed Recon? I think I read somewhere that some Armed Recon and Ship Strike missions occured if they were closer to the base. I've also been reading with interest the forum thread about the effects on the BOB campaign by changing the front line around. I think there's a lot more to the front line setting than just an object on the map.
  20. If you use the DisplayDebug feature, you can see how much total fuel (in pounds) that the aircraft is carrying. You could compare with and without the external tank and see what the difference is in pounds, or using the external tank, watch as the fuel is consumed down to the internal fuel weight just to verify that the external fuel is being used (just in case there is a bug or typo in the aircraft data.ini file which isn't allowing the use of the external tank).
  21. Look in the download section here at CA under cockpits. There are some made to use in the Russian aircraft that are pretty good. Also, you can download other Russian aircraft that have new pits and try using them in the MiG's (if you can read their gauges).
  22. 490 liters is only 129 gallons = 838.5 pounds. Checking the flight handbook for the F-100D (comparable to a MiG-21), a cruise consumption is 2990 pounds per hour = 460 gallon per hour = 60 gallons per minute. That's at cruise setting. The F-100D usually carried two 335 gallon wing tanks = 670 gallons, which is way more than 129 gallons. Were you in burner during those six minutes? That would be even higher. I don't fly the MiG-21, but does it have a fuel flow meter? If it does see what it is using.
  23. Exhaust

Try using the CleanExhaustEmitter for now. Make a backup of the ParticleSystem.ini file, then cut and paste the CleanExhaustEmitter data over the DirtyExhaustEmitter data in the ParticleSystem file, then rename the second CleanExhaustEmitter to DirtyExhaustEmitter. You won't have as much exhaust coming out of the F-4, but maybe it'll help the framerates on 32-bit.
  24. Exhaust

What are your computer specs? The ThirdWire sims usually run pretty smooth even with high detail settings. Turn off mirrors and shadows first. If that doesn't help, try tuning down some of the other graphic details like visibility distance, etc.
