One of my faves, though I haven't gone through all of them yet: there are several hundred Belgian beers, and nearly all of them, other than the ones for the massmarket, are to die for. The last authentic Tripel Style Beer brewed in Bruges Straffe Hendrik was an authentic Bruges' Tripel beer: a strong and rich beer with lots of flavours (malt, caramel and hop) and 9% abv. In the past, lots of Bruges' breweries produced a Tripel Style Bruges' Ale, a "Brugse Tripel". In fact, it was a local speciality. Today, Straffe Hendrik is the last authentic Bruges' Tripel Beer. In 1988, the label was transfered to another brewery and the production in Bruges decreased until it stopped completely. In 2008, exactly 20 years later, Xavier Vanneste brought the label back to Bruges. Ever since, Straffe Hendrik is being brewed in Bruges according to the original recipe and enjoyes once again an excellent reputation amongst the people of Bruges who have "their Tripel" back. Straffe Hendrik, a rich bitter ale Straffe Hendrik is being brewed with a subtle mixture of 6 different kinds of malt. The taste is strong with a lot of hop (Saaz and Styrian Golding) of the best quality. The second fermentation in the bottle assures a longer shelf life. Straffe Hendrik is a very rich beer with lots of flavours. Cheers

Not just Ypres - you can find that stuff almost anywhere along the Front, lying on the surface after the fields have been ploughed. I was walking across a corn field on the western slope of Vimy Ridge a while back, and found an unexploded 18 pounder just laying there. Cheers, shredward

Hi Winder, I have similar problems. I loaded an updated driver for my 285 a while back, and it locks everything up after a few minutes. Where did you find the default driver - I'd like to reinstall my original as well. Cheers, shredward

Hi Mike, I just took a quick thumb through C&C's 'Nieuports in RNAS, RFC and RAF Service', and many if not most photos show them with an Aldis. However, we'll talk it over, and see how doeable an additional ring sight would be. Cheers, shredward

Complements varied from service to service, and changed throughout the war. Generally, Allied squadrons were larger, usually by quite a bit, but tended to field smaller formations. Usually, most units had spare machines, but this too varied, due to supply, and how intense the fighting was. Cheers, shredward

The markings of Lothar's DVIIs - there were several - are not known. He did write of his "lovely red bird" - a machine with which he claimed two victories on August 8, but wrote off in landing after the fight. His third victory that day - in the chaos of the 'Black Day of the German Army' was claimed while he was flying a machine borrowed from Erich Just. We do know that he was flying Heldmann's machine the day he claimed his 30th victory on 25 July. Cheers, shredward
