23 Gothas about to start for a raid against England
shredward replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Gothas over England. No fighter support - Emils were still two decades in the future. When daytime raids became too costly, in late August '17, they simply switched to night raids. The effect of the raids was out of all proportion to the damage caused, so they must be viewed as a success. Cheers the shredder -
Most bombing, both tactical and strategic, took place at night from the latter half of '17 on. By 1918, there were night fighter units on both sides. Cheers, shredward

I would prefer that propositions like that be posted in the personals, rather than in the main forum -

Yeah, I just wish I had time to add in all the victories for all the pilots. One day, sigh. Just a dream for now.

Au contraire my dear Olham, As I remind my apprentices, I am a God -
And this is the sort of thread that makes it all worthwhile for us. Cheers, shredward

Quite right Olham, quite right. I am painfully close to coming up with the asking price with my earnings from OFF over the years for that little motu just off Bora Bora . Just one more little push and I just might make it, Who needs to relive the Great War when one can live out ones days like Gaugin in the South Pacific. It's listing for 980000 Euros, so I\m only about 979950 shy. Hell, I'll even get a rollout to accomodate any of my flying friends who want to stop by for a visit. I'm sure I would not be distracted from finishing my work for the next installment, so please, send your donations to the Shredder Motu Retirement fund, c/o this station. Cheers, shredward

Bletchley has just uploaded his new AA mod: http://combatace.com/files/file/12747-bletchleys-aa-mod/ A gradual progression in accuracy and density of AA bursts as you progress from 1915 through to 1918. When the campaign transitions from one date period to another just de-activate the current file and activate the next one. I use this mod by selecting 'Normal' in Workshop settings for an 'active' front, 'Easy' for a 'quiet' front and 'Hard' for balloon attack missions. But on each workshop setting there is a gradual progression in accuracy and density of AA bursts as you progress from 1915 through to 1918, so you can just stick to one workshop setting if you prefer to use it this way, or find your own combination of settings. This mod works well with my earlier mods, as it changes different files and settings, but. It will not work with any other AA mods that are installed via JGSME into the WWI Scenery folder. Bletchley Thanks Bletch!

ROF Claims Theft...Is It True?
shredward replied to Lanzfeld's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
That is not even worthy of a response, given that a) we showed ours many many many months ago, and b) their history of, how shall I put it, use of our work as an inspiration. Rather, it is far more likely the inverse of that charge. the Shredder. -
Olham continues to improve the sim in so many quiet ways. He has helped me on numerous occasions, the latest being a tip that we had a faulty aerodrome location, and missed by the whole Great War historical community. That will be corrected for P4. and a tip of my well worn forage cap shredward

Actually the prefix for house is normally four letters, rather than three Cheers Shredward -
Actually, it wasn't anything Unc said here that did him in. It was his posts and messages on other fora on this site, and his refusal to self edit before he hit send, despite repeated warnings, that did him in. We tried to save him, but it just wasnt going to happen. And no chance of being reinstated. I never saw the posts or PMs that got him turfed, but I understand that anything he poted on this forum wears mild by comparison. So, as much as we want him back, ain't gonna happen Cheers The shredder

This particular clip is a/c, but there are many many other shorts of various aspects of the war. http://www3.nfb.ca/ww1/wartime-film.php?id=531373 Cheers, shredward

You both had me scared for a moment there, so I checked my datafiles. MvR is right where he should be, with JaB up to the 15th January, and then to Ja11. Cheers, shredward -
I suppose it's possible - that there was so much more dust, smoke and particles hanging in the air, that it caused water droplets to form much more readily. Or that it was just unusually wet. I dunno. and I dunno if anyone else does either.

And August '17 was one of the wettest ever. Rain and artillery shells falling out of the sky turned the whole Salient into a a vast sea of mud. Cheers, shredward
