  1. And discovered my long awaited copy of Bruno Schmäling's new book "Royal Prussian Jagdstaffel 30 ". It's absobloodylutely marvelous. It has been 50 plus years in the making, based on interviews and journals of pilots long since gone West, along with the efforts and contributions of some of the giants among Great War aviation historians, and of course the archives. Hopefully, more titles to come, if this one does well. Get yourself over to your nearest source !

  3. You're right corsaire, they've switched allegiance.  Despite all the talk earlier when the developers moved and made that the official site.  The reality is once WOFF came out people gravitated over to SimHQ.  That is the only place where you can interact with the developers and get your questions answered.  New players will go there.  In fact, they probably don't even know we exist.  Just look at the posters there, all of the usual suspects.  Even you Olham have over 1500 posts already.  We're like the small Mom & Pop store that everyone used to shop at but has now been replaced by a bigger, flashier, cheaper box store.  We can't compete.  I don't think we'll go belly up, but we'll never return to our former glory.  You can have a pleasant chat here but if you want hard information on WOFF you'll have to go to SimHQ.  Fortunately it's just a matter of a mouse click or two to get there.  Times change.

I'm still here, answer questions when I can. Pol stops by. But yeah, we need more guys posting screenies, combat reports etc.

  4. Two fatalities on the first two days of delivery? That'll give a plane a bad rep. But from mid-December 1917 to April 21, 1918 (when von Richtofen is killed) were all the Albatros fighters replaced?

Sorry Hauk, I should have noted that the two failures were at the end of October eg the Dr.I was in service for about two weeks from mid to end October before it was grounded.

  5. F.1 102/17 and 103/17 arrived at JGI, Marckebeeke at the end of August. Voss first flew 103 on the evening of the 28th, Richtofen and Voss flew 102 and 103 respectively soon after in a demo for film and visiting dignitaries. Deliveries of the Dr.I began about 10 October. Heinrich Gontermann was killed in the structural failure of his Dr.I on the 30th, Günther Pastor the next day in a similar failure, and Idflieg grounded the type. Modifications were approved on November 28th, and deliveries resumed in mid-December.
