Favorite production Military Aircraft of 2012
Brain32 replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Well one should be about 100 mil$ but is that really too expensive for something like that? EF-2000 and Rafale can go up to 90 mil€, F-35 maybe twice that much even F-16E was sold to UAE for about 80 mil$ each... I would really love to see F-15 SilentE flying around, really looks cool with those slanted tails... -
We have people take away people like that and put them in a nice padded room with new warm and fuzzy outfit...that service is financed by taxpayers money but I'd say it worth every dime...

Favorite production Military Aircraft of 2012
Brain32 replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Only two kinds of aircraft exist, the Eagles, and all other... -
Probably Prometheus with the same addition fallenphoenix1986 mentioned. As for others I must say I was never a big fan of JB, all kinds of Vampires especially teenage ones, Batman and other superheroes grew old on me too...maybe I'm just getting old and cranky? Don't know what to say, I'm a big fan of SF/action/war spectacles, my motto for a good movie(to be seen in cinema) is damaged retina so...not much of that this year if I'm not mistaken, didn't watch the Expendables though...

MiG-21 - still unpleasant surprise at Cope India exercise
Brain32 replied to michael82's topic in Military and General Aviation
That would be a major mistake, I don't care what machine is in question it could be a freakin' USS Voyager(with shields down however :D ) because what was described in that exercise was a typical saturation attack. It's the same thing as attacking a ship with AEGIS system with anti-ship missiles, one is a laugh, five are no problem, 20 are still manageable but true saturation attack will come maybe with 50 or 80 missiles coming from multiple directions to over-stress the system capability and score a hit. Basically anybody that thinks a flight of Raptors can just enter an airspace that is well covered with networked and multi-layered air defense and just own anything is playing too much video games...this of course does not mean that the air force equipped with planes like Raptor does not have a significant edge over the opponents that do not, but let's not go into fairy-tale country... -

Yeah now that you mention it I think it is...but don't let me spoil the fun, I know my 109's better than F-15's so I notice such stuff -

Exp3 News! (no, not really)
Brain32 replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Well I didn't caught them pulling excessive positive load, the problem is they can pull as much negative as they can pull positive. This is what some of us call "the drunken dolphin maneuver" when AI goes from level flight into a high negative load maneuver(really excessive, maximum) then abruptly pull into a high positive load maneuver again to the max. This is how the chart would look: Messing with the aircraftobject.ini or AI_DATA.ini or what's-it's-name might help but I think it can only decrease the whole elevator sensitivity instead of just preventing them to pull high negative load values... -

Brain32 replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Limit AI to positive/negative G values in the data.ini, I'm sick and tired finding gun solution on a Flogger pulling -7G or seeing them evade missiles with *high negative/high positive G maneuvers* that would even kill an adult male Klingon warrior... -
Merry Christmas guys!

Saw it two days ago and I'll definitely keep a look out for it...although I'm not a fan of "Maverick"...

You definitely have a point, though judging by the pictures I would rather say the plane sits too low than the pod being too big... -

I'll be reluctant to fire something this pretty -
Hmm not sure about paintshop, in Photoshop you just have to save it with maximum quality and a setting of 12 I experimented with that a lot, if I save it with 10 it has artifacts but it's much smaller, if I save it with 12 it is larger but quality is perfect...
-
Unbelievably detailed Just a small hint, I think you are saving the maps(jpg's) in too low quality as I can see the compression artifacts and that's a sin on such a great work, crank the quality all the way up, files will still be small enough and quality will be same as BMP
