Under water effect for No-Mans Land river
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Well I intend to leave it. I was going for that collapsed look. I did paint the part of the bridge that is out of the water black in the Alpha channel. The section I wanted submerged I just painted the grey tone of the water. Simple trick really. It could be useful to create a sunken ship tile for a south pacific map perhaps where the waters would be more shallow. -
They have to be stationary. There is no code for trains to follow any track. Good enough for me though. Lookin real good!

I tried. The Height adjustment cant get close enough. It distorts the fort too much. Im going to place some wall inside that I took from the Vogesen terrain to match the shape of the fort. This should help with the 3D look. I did use the Height mapping to raise the forts tile as a whole.

Here are some more pics of Verdun region with all surrounding forts now in the targets.ini. I'm going to add some more detail to the forts that weren't destroyed. I used gterl's "Fort" .bmp. I'm just going to do some more work around St. Mehiel. Then I'll start adding all the ground objects such as AAA, balloons, field guns and soldiers.
-
I did get them. I started doing new tiles before I installed the updated fort. I'm adding some more forts that were in the area of st. mihiel too. Using your fort .bmp. Might change it around a bit for the smaller forts. Thanks for the fort btw. Very cool addition.

Bump maps for individual tiles?
quack74 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Wondering if it's possible to attach individual bump maps to each tile called out in the terrains' DATA.ini. Rather than one map used over the terrain as a whole. Just a thought. -
What it looks like in game. Might be too much. But I figured years of digging trenches cant look pretty.

Summer tiles for Jan Tuma's seasonal upgrade
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I'm going to add a few more tiles that don't have trees. More big fields looks much better. BTW I've been working on the Verdun terrain. Adding more roads too -
Lol I tried to delete it before you read it. I already changed it. Now it works. I spent the whole day figuring out the TFD tool. It's great! I can place new tiles and airfields now. I also figured out how to manipulate the height field too. Lots of plans now. Larger bomber fields is one (without those nice tall trees as borders!)

Which Macchi and which Lohner?????!!!! Do tell

Summer tiles for Jan Tuma's seasonal upgrade
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
The stone work is from the original church .bmp. I just changed the roof colors and tiles. I added a bit of stained glass too. -

Summer tiles for Jan Tuma's seasonal upgrade
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I sure will. I'm almost done. Need to work on the Spring folder a bit more. I'm adding a couple of new churches too. Well not "new" but one will have a red steeple and another with a green steeple. They will be scattered around. When I was in Austria and Germany a few years back I noticed all the little towns had multiple small churches. Each one had a different colored steeple (red or green). It was very cool to see them stick up above the little towns. I figured it would look cool from the air as well for FE. -
Summer tiles for Jan Tuma's seasonal upgrade

I ended up going over all the different seasons and tweaking them all. I changed the colors of all the "Town" houses and added color to the trees. I touched up tiles etc, etc. I even had to re-do a bunch of the water .tga's in each folder. Still not done but here are a few pics of some of the seasons: Remember I just tweaked the original work by Jan Tuma. I didn't create anything new. -
Verdun: Fort Douaumont and Fort Vaux
quack74 replied to gterl's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Great addition gterl. It's almost creepy flying over the ruins. I've seen the before and after photos of fort Douaumont. -
Verdun: Fort Douaumont and Fort Vaux

Very cool idea gterl! But I don't know if its just my setup but what's the tile supposed to be near the fort? It has some grass and craters but looks like it's in the shape of a fort. See pics: -
I don't really think anything has to be changed. I was just wondering because there were different versions as you stated. The longer nose looks better. but its possible the shorter nose is more accurate. Sorry to stir up trouble Stephen. But like you said, I guess now would be the time to be picky
-
Not to be too critical here, and I can very well be wrong, but is the nose a bit short for a "C" type? Looking at some photos of real BE 2C's the nose seems longer. Perhapes extended for larger engine?

I want to be the first to shoot it down! MUAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I would want a deflector plate welded to the top of my headgear if I was the pilot of that model. And some earplugs.
-
Ah! I didn't realize there was an update for the W.4. Thanks Stephen
-
None of my W.4 folders has a wood and linen skin. Did I miss something in a download? Was the early W.4 updated?
-
The Austrian skins are not in the pack. Only the hex camo is in the Austrian skin folder. Is this correct or am I missing something?
-
You keep surprising us with with these great rare seaplanes. Great work Stephen1918. With gterl's Italian Front terrain in the works any plans for any Italian Macchi or Austrian Lohner flying boats?
-
Have you created any "StrategicNodes" for campaign use? They link all the ground locations for any movement of troops or vehicles for campaigns? They dont go into the terrain folder but into a campaign data.ini. I figured since you are fresh at knowing all the locations on your map it would be easier for you to make a "StrategicNode" list than any of us. I hope I'm not being too pushy, but it is important for campaign use.

She's a beauty Stephen1918. Keep'em comin.
