Thanks VonS. I will try it out this weekend sometime. -
Engine reliability for prop planes?
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Then you must have worked on DH9's in your former life with the IAF. Lol -
The Bombed airfield and surrounding terrain are new tiles. I photoshopped the shelled terrain tiles from No-Mans-Land tiles. Not Bomb damage. It's not a targetable airfield. Just something to look at when flying over.

Jasta18 cutting through a formation of DH9's of 104 squadron, IAF, August 1918. Jasta18 at Montingen. The last one is a bombed airfield east of Saint-Mihiel.

Try my effects folder. It's a mix of different peoples effects over several years. Impossible to know who. Just back up your Effects folder and drop in mine. See if you like the smoke and flame effects. Effects.zip

The damaged engine smoke or fire follow the same parameter as engine exhaust. I set all of the exhaust coordinates to the center line of the aircraft. Then the fire will be right in your face. Where it terrifyingly should be. But my effects often create a good fireball just as often as engine damage and engine fire. I can't remember whose effects I'm using though. But they are great. I'll try to figure it out.

arbitrary 3D mesh tod objects
quack74 replied to mue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Can a "Hit Box" be added to a new TOD that was converted from a .LOD? Maybe a way to make trees and other terrain objects crashable (is that a word?) obstacles. Mue I must say you have done incredible things making these programs. They are great. If you can figure a way to create, or even manipulate existing, .TOD's would be exponential for tile building. I for one thank you for your efforts. Keep up the good work. -
[WIP] Target Area Editor
quack74 replied to mue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Is there a key stroke to duplicate an already placed and highlighted object without having to open the "Add New Object" list"?. If not, could there be? Would really speed things up. -
Anyone know why my flight will not attack or drop bombs on certain ground objects? I give the command to "Attack ground target" and they fly away looking for other ground targets. I notice it every time my mission is to attack trains or train stations and a couple others. Their ground object types are set to "TRAIN" and "RAIL_STATION". Their target values are 100 to 1000. What makes a ground object targetable?

Flight wont attack some ground objects. Why?

I already have it. It's an incredible read. That's what got me into creating a whole campaign and redoing the Verdun terrain. Loads of information. -

Thanks for the links Von S. I know there were related topics over the years somewhere in here. -
Flight wont attack some ground objects. Why?

I understand. Makes perfect sense. I'll keep fudging with it. I use two seaters quit a bit actually. They usually do the right thing. Just a couple of objects I'm having trouble with. I created a campaign called "The Independent Air Force". As the RAF (IAF), I mainly fly the DH4 and the DH9. Flights are anywhere from 3 to 12 aircraft. We fly over the lines around Nancy and almost always head north to attack aerodromes and large airfields, factories in and around Metz and Thionville, and even train stations. I even, on acation, will come across a moving train that needs to be put out of action. I created most of the Jasta's and Kest units that were known to be in the vicinity. It's very involved. I fly it all the time. Never a dull mission. It's very cool to see the red Jasta18 Fokker D.VII's from Montingen gaining altitude to attack my flight of IAF DH9's of 104 Squadron on or way to bomb the factories in Thionville. Or even the large airfield in Boulay northeast of Metz. I'm almost done so you all can try it out for your selves very soon. -

I'll check it out. Does "TargetValue" in the "Terrain_Types" have anything to do with it? Too low of a value perhaps? -
Flight wont attack some ground objects. Why?
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I tried a few missions that had a train station as the main target and this time I didn't tell my flight of DH.9's to do anything. They just flew right over the target and didn't drop a thing. But then I ordered them to attack the target and they turned around and dropped their bombs on the station. So what gives? If I order them too soon they fly away. if I wait till after the waypoint they will turn around and then attack. -

Thanks ojcar. That makes sense. I always hit the "Attack ground target" key. I don't think I ever flew over a target with out telling my flight what to do. Can't trust those green pilots -
All kinds of ground objects. Mostly from Stephen1918 and Geezer. Verdun.

No problem Geezer. You've added so many objects to this sim already. You have made a huge impact. Thank you. -

Geezer, you're the Fort man. Any more interest in a couple of French forts if I send you two or three pics? -
I'm still around and play FE often. Since the new Terrain Editor came out I got to work on my Verdun terrain again. Been busy with cleaning it up. I just havn't had anything to post or comment on lately. I have so many skins for you guys. I just don't have much time to package anything. I have close to 100 skins just for the Italian-Austria front. I'll get to it soon.

Hello Mue and fellas. Last week I was building a town for First Eagle two using the TAE v.01. Worked great. But I still had to have the Targets.INI open as well as the TAE and the terrain folder so I can see all the available objects through the LOD viewer. I thought it was great. Took a while to select an object to use then type it into the Targets.INI then refresh the TAE to see it. Then touch up it's coordinates a bit and it's heading. I had no idea there was a new version!!! What a brilliant update. It was available the whole time I was doing it the hard way. Figures. Anyway, Mue, this is a fantastic program. Thank you for all of your efforts with all of the editing programs you have given us. So here is my request, if you already aren't working on it. Lets say I'm working on a [TargetArea] that has 99 targets. I select a target object already placed (highlighted in red), lets say Target [007], and I delete it. I can't fill in the missing object in the [007] slot. It will add a new target at the end of the list. Now my [TargetArea] has 100 targets. But Target [007] is a blank. I have to open the Targets.INI to fill in the missing object. I like how it adds objects (Targets) in consecutive order. Can there be a way to edit an existing object with a different object with out it being added to the end of the list? Maybe a new key stroke combined with the mouse wheel that will cycle through the available objects. This way "delete" wont be the only option. Either way this program is huge. It gave me an incentive to finish a big terrain project and even consider doing more. It makes thing so easy now. Thanks Mue. -
Could you throw in that Junkers J.I?
