same serial number on each aricraft..? why ?
quack74 replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Make sure in the Decal.ini for what ever skin you want to use, the decal level is set to "DecalLevel=2" for the mesh you intend to use the serial numbers. [Decal019] MeshName=Vertical Stabilizer DecalLevel=2 <--------------------------here DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=AlbatrosD5a/D/Serial Position=-3.83,0.45 Scale=0.7 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal020] MeshName=Vertical Stabilizer DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=AlbatrosD5a/D/Serial Position=-3.87,0.45 Scale=0.7 DecalMaxLOD=3 hope this is what you were talking about -
As far as I can remember, all my FEG stuff (Add-ons) work just fine with FE2. As for the weapons, You'll need to get the latest "Weapons Editor" from Thirdwire as a free download and the "Gun Editor". The editors create DAT files for the game to use when you alter the original files. FE2 is much better if you're able to use DirectX10 or 11. Lots of graphic enhancments. FM's are better too. I original installed FE2 into my older windowsXP and didnt really have too many problems. But now I have Windows7 64bit and FE2 is great. I'm waiting for a possible patch from TW. But not sure if thats going to happen. Somethings could use some tweaking as far as gameplay goes. But I love FE2. BTW I think you can download the Editors here at CA as well in the FE download section. Make sure you download the right ones. FE and FE2 use different editors I believe. It has been so quiet here for the last month and a half. Hmmm. not good. I've been away for personal reasons but I'll be up and running again with lots of new sknins in a couple of weeks

Make sure you have the latest patches from Thirwire. I know this was fixed a long time ago. If you really want to get back into FE, buy FE2. its much better.

Ditto. Those Belgains are much forgotten. -
A question about the engines.
quack74 replied to mauricepiesligeros's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
There is a "Blip-switch" option for a key stroke or controler button for the radial engines. But no way to start with engines off -
A question about the engines.
quack74 replied to mauricepiesligeros's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I always wondered that myself -
The cockpit isnt spectacular but it does the trick and everything moves around. I even added a radiator decal on the underside of the upperwing.

Well I recommend trying again. Skunkworks Pfalz D.III and D.IIIa have nice cockpits. With Petero1's FM's and some of my Skins (all found here at CA) the D.III's are really great. Trust me it's worth trying. I use the Pfalz D.III's maybe more than the Albatros types. I've included them into my campaigmns as well.

Belgian Nieuport 16 Skin
quack74 replied to Hermann the Hun's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2 File Announcements
These will be great for my campaigns. Belgian skins are definitely missing from this sim -
Skunkworks has a PfalzD.III and a D.IIIa for FE. And I've done a hand full of different skins for them that are available here in the FE download section. If your looking for a Pfalz type.

I too would have no problems paying someone for their 3D model work if they created models for FE. If they took their time and did it right and created a beautiful plane then they deserve the payment. And we would get some more great, much needed, aircraft.
-
Lol Sounds like you have had this all planned out for awhile.
-
I agree with you 100% I was thinking of doing a small campaign of the Eastern Fron (Russia) using Nieports, SPADVII's and Hack skins for two-seaters.

I never knew anything about where FE came from. But all I know is FE is what I use for my WWI sim and the way I have mine setup is great. It only too me 4 years to get it that way lol. 4 years?.... what the hell!. Anyway, as far as mission building goes, atleast Krelin's (KMD) mission builder works 99% with FE2. So I could live without the new SF2 MB for FE2 for now. I know WWI never was a hot seller as far as flight sims go. Slow aircraft with jamming guns, no bombsights etc, etc. But it's a damed if you do damed if you dont situation. If you create a sim (like FE) and never really develope it to it's full potential or even take a really long time, years even, to upgrade and add things like aircraft, how successful could it be. Who has the time or intersest to wait years to see what's next? I have to admit, right out of the box I probably wouldnt like FE2 either. The terrain, the FM's, the skies, the ground objects and even the lack of aircraft all made me mod my install big time. At the time I bought FE in '08 the Expansion Pack came out. I thought it was great! Lots of new stuff and even patches to go along with. Even at the time ( I think ) the only other WWI sim out there was Over Flanders Fields. I have OFF too, but FE had some things that OFF didnt. I think FE aircraft are top notch as far as the 3D models and textures are concerned. I eventually got hooked on modding my FE and I'm still doing it today. The way I have my FE2 I'll be happy with it for some time. Why TK never took any 3rd party mods and incorporated them into this sim I dont know. Like the clouds and skies, the different terrain mods, the FM's. They're all better than the stock stuff. I know legal stuff gets involved but I'm sure nobody would have a problem with it. If I could do better with my skins I would let TW use em. Anyway, If something is good out of the box, people tend to stick with it. And if it is supported often people tend to stay interested. When you here news like " We cant afford that right now" it is such a let down. Makes me want to find another WWI sim that is rolling along and is expanding. Wow I have to get to work! I'm sorry to bitch like this everyone. Spending 4 years on a sim (which is my fault) and to see it lose interest is kind of a big let down. talk to you soon.

I remember way back when, There was dust kicking up from wheels when an aircraft was rolling on the ground. None of my aircraft do it now. I donrt remember when it stopped either. Does FE2 have this feature? If so, anyone know how to get it to work?

They would be here, at CombatAce, in the Download section under / First Eagles 1 and 2/ Single Missions and Campaigns

Hello all. Just would like to hear back from anyone that has installed my "Battle of Caporetto" campaign. I havnt heard if it works or not yet from anyone. I would like to upload Version 3.0 soon. But I dont want to get too far ahead of everyone. I see in the dowload section that many have downloaded Part 1 and not Part 2. Since both are needed to work properly I'm a little concerned. Are the files too big? Does it not work on some of your systems? The number of downloads for Part 1 should be the same as Part 2. And if you dont have Part 2 you cant upgrade to any new versions. Please, someone confirm for me that it atleast does work. I will be overwriting the Version 2.0 with Version 3.0. 3.0 will have Italian and Austrian groundforces appearing and moving into "target areas. Lots of cool action below. Also there will be a new usable Italian Squadriglia 79a that uses the Nieuport 27 in camouflage paint. One Ace skin and multiple ace names will appear (for 79a). I will have two different Campaign Data.ini files and 2 Vogesen_Targets.ini files in the download. One will be for the "Dense" Vogesen_Targets.ini (lots of ground targets added) the others will be for the stock Vogesen_Targets.ini (less targets. Easier on the frame rates). But before I get too far ahead.....Is it working? Thanks all

Oeffag D.III Ba.53, 153, 253 - WIP
quack74 replied to Jan Tuma's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I second that! I would like to get going on redoing the Austrian skins for my Caporetto campaign. How are you making out Jan? -
Wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR. Have fun and be safe.

Thanks a lot Christian59! I've been waiting for these too.

I think it was Heck that said he was going to change the FM's. After I made the earlier S.E.5 skins from No.60 Sqn he mentioned he would do the FM to match the older skins. I think.

From the decriptions by Ltn. Rudolf Stark (commander of Jasta 35b but flew briefly with Jasta 34) These are the skins I came up with. There are very few pictures (ofcourse) of these planes so I had to use some artistic license, as they call it. I'm sure there were more colors added to some but I didnt want to go too far. These should do just fine. These will be all I'll do for a few weeks. I have a big job starting tomorrow. So I'll be very cold and busy. I'll try and post these tonight or this weekend. I know I know "there's no rush". But I like to keep things moving and get them out to you guys. Jasta 34b: Oblt. Robert Greim - Double red bands Ltn. August Delling - Single redish-orange band Ltn. Kithil - White band bordered in black Ltn. Krohl - Single red band Vzfw. Johann Putz - Double green bands Vzfw. Max Kahlow - Single yellow band Jasta 34b - Generic - no markings (can use stock personal markings I'll create the decal.ini for it) All have the staffel marking of a silver-white tail and rear fuselage aft of cockpit. Jasta 35b: Ltn. Rudolf Stark - (Commander of Jasta35b) - Lilac tail, nose, and fuselage band Gefr. Xavier Prey - Black and white vertical stripes on fuselage, black nose Gefr. Caspar Schmidt - Red fuselage band outlined in black and red nose Ltn. Karl Beyschlag - Bavarian blue and white horizontal fuselage stripes (upper and lower fuselage) Ltn. d R Boemer - Three intertwined yellow rings ( there is no picture of this, just decription from Stark. I had to guess) Ltn. d R Stoer - Olive green fuselage band with white "H" on sides and top of fuselage Jasta35b - Generic - White chevron on upper wings Staffel marking is a white Chevron on the upper wings ( can be used with the Jasta 35b Pfalz D.XII skin I made. Jasta 35b used both the Fokker D.VII and the Pfalz D.XII simultaniously. Thats all the detail on these two Staffels I could muster up. Need to do some finishing touches on all of them. So most likely this weekend they'll be done. The colors in the Jasta34b line-up make them look like a pack of LifeSavers. here are some pics:
