Pretty much all of the thirdparty planes used for FEG or FE2 need to use Peter01's flight models (new DATA and Config .ini's) to fly right and have the proper loadouts. I use all of them and I think they're great. They all can be found in the FE download section here at CA under "Add-On aircraft" at the bottom of the list it says "FM's" I think. He covered just about every plane available. Just a copy and past procedure.

Oeffag D.III Ba.53, 153, 253 - WIP
quack74 replied to Jan Tuma's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I guess I'm going to have a lot of re-skinning to do:blink: . Good stuff Jan Tuma! I definitly would rather have this D.III too. Glad you decided to do it. -
May I add it's a BIG PITA changing all the aircraft decal.ini too. In one decal file the DecalMaxLOD would have a range of 1-3. Even with my graphics settings at unlimited. So I had to change every decal file for every skin in every aircraft folder in my inventory one by one. A very very stupid thing. If I didnt do it the decals would disappear at only a few meters distance. I just changed all mine to "DecalMaxLOD=4"

********* The Battle of Caporetto ********** *Version 2.0* By quack74 November 2010 This download contains a new campaign data.ini and Config.ini for the "Battle of Caporetto" campaign made by quack74. The upgrade to 2.0 contains German air units that participated in the great battle. Along with a few aces. Most of the markings are not historically accurate due to lack of detailed information and photographs. The names of the aces are accurate. All the units that I have included are accurate. **You MUST have "The Battle of Caporetto" Version 1.0 (the original download, part1 and part2) for this to work properly** These German units were sent to reinforce the Austrian campaign against the Italians soon after the collapse of the Eastern (Russian) Front. These units would start to appear in September of 1917 and last till the end of February 1918. Jagdstaffeln (fighters): Jasta 1 - Albatros D.V Jasta 31 - Albatros D.III Jasta 39 - Albatros D.IIIOAW FeldFleigerAbteilung (ground attack): FFA.2 FFA.14 - All DFWC5 FFA.17 - FFA.39 Kampfgeschwader 4 units (bombers): Kagohl 19 Kagohl 20 - All AEG G.IV Kagohl 21 Also included are one more French air unit and one more Italian air unit. French: Escadrille N392 (N24bis) standard markings Italian: Squadriglia 79a (N27) Camouflage pattern with four known aces, including one ace skin. Enjoy everyone, quack74 -

I will be releasing an upgrade or patch for my "Battle of Caporetto" campaign. I've included three German Jastas and one ground attack unit to the "usable" list. Also I've fixed and organized both the Config.ini and DATA.ini. Now when selecting a Nation, Austria will appear in the menu. When selecting "Austria" you will be able to use only the Austrian aircraft. Selecting Germany will allow you to use only the new German units. Before as you all know Germany was all the enemy aircraft. There was no Austria in the selection. Anyway it's fixed and works great. Here are some pics for the "German" units Main Start Screen: Jagstaffel 1 Hangar and Loading Screens: Jagstaffel 31 Hangar and Loading Screens: Jagstaffel 39 Hangar and Loading Screens: FeldFleigerAbteilung.2 (FFA.2) DFWC5: The identity of these Jastas is a bit iffy. There's not much info out there about them. From the research I've done I've used my best guess. This Version 2.0 patch ( Expansion Pack 1) will be an easy install. I promise.

Upgrade for "Battle of Caporetto"
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Just wanted to share this photo from my "Caporetto" campaign. If your eyes are 20/20 check out the line of Austrian and German aircraft. Intimidating to say the least. -
I've finally got the IronDuke and a couple of other ships to appear in FE2. But I have a couple of questions for anyone who might now about it. 1. why dont all the big guns fire? Only two turrets fire. The others just move around but mainly away from the targets and never fire. 2.. How do the guns work? There are no 13.5IN_MKV guns in my GUNDATA.ini or WEAPONS.ini. So where do the effects come from? I like the secondary effects (hit explosions and smoke) where do they come from? How can I use them elswhere? 3. All of my ships are set as "CARGO_SHIP" for ground object type and there are parameters for SHIPPING in the terrain's MOVEMENT.ini but I never see one ship moving along the coast as the parameters dictate. Is FE2 set up for "SHIPPING"? Making the ships static is no problem. I set their position in the terrain's TARGETS.ini. I do notice that there is no "ANTI_SHIP" in any of the aircraft's roles in their DATA.ini's This isnt a really big deal but I would like to place some ships in the channel on the Flanders map for some MFJ Units and bombers. Oh and #4. Why doesnt the IronDuke get destroyed? I bombed the crap out of her with my Gotha and just got some smoke. She didnt sink or burn. And why dont any of the other Gothas in my flight recognize the IronDuke as a ground object? I hit "Attack ground " and they all spread out looking for ground targets. Is it because there is no parameter for "ANTI_SHIP" in FE2? thanks to anyone who wants to respond to this.

Hello Ice Man, I'm not too sure about the gun problem. I dont remember wich guns come with FE2 or which ones were add-ons. Thats one of those problems with modding. You forget what came with the sim. But I'll try to help. Before I get in to it (it might be a long process) Do you have the Extract Utility to unpack the security file? If so have you unpacked all the files and created folders in C: Users/ your name/ Saved Games/ ThirWire/ FirstEagles2/ all mod folders go here eg: Sounds, Effects, Objects, Terrains etc, etc.

Anyone using the "IronDuke" battleship?
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I've tried just about everything too. ANTI_SHIP missions are a no go for FE2. But you can create stationary ships in each terrain by creating the particular ship's data in the terrains's_TYPES.ini and by creating it's location in the terrain's_TARGETS.ini. It does work. You can create a stationary ship convoy in the Channel using the Flanders or Cambrai terrains. The battle ship "IronDuke" continuously fires at land targets all over the terrain. Cool effects. But....however, there doesnt seem to be a Sinking_Ship effect anymore either. Bombing the ships doesnt seem to cause any damage and I cant get the rest of my flight to attack ships. Eventhough I have a ship locked on as a primary target. I dont know. Maybe it's not worth it until TW brings back the shipping data. If they do. -
Upgrade for "Battle of Caporetto"
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I'll be posting a Version 2.0 for the " Battle of Caporetto" campaign. I've included German air units and edited the Config.ini and DATA.ini to make Austrian and German aircraft separate. I cleaned up the Data.ini a bit. It's a bit more organized now. I've added a couple more French AI Escadrilles aswell. New mission text files and new Start and Hangar screens too. In the download section it will be called " "The Battle of Caporetto" Version 2.0". It will be an add-on to your excisting "Caporetto" campaign Version1.0. This one will be a simple install. Here is what will be included: These German units were sent to reinforce the Austrian campaign against the Italians soon after the collapse of the Eastern (Russian) Front. These units would start to appear in September of 1917 and last till the end of February 1918. Jagdstaffeln (fighters): Jasta 1 - Albatros D.V Jasta 31 - Albatros D.III Jasta 39 - Albatros D.IIIOAW FeldFleigerAbteilung (ground attack): FFA.2 FFA.14 - All DFWC5 FFA.17 - FFA.39 Kampfgeschwader 4 units (bombers): Kagohl 19 Kagohl 20 - All AEG G.IV Kagohl 21 -
Ever since I got my new GFX card my water has been horrible. For every terrain. It is way too light blue and fuzzy at distances. Also it barely moves. I'm using Jan Tumas terrain upgrades and I currently have DX11 gfx card. Can someone post their water settings from their Terrain_DATA.ini that they are happy with. I dont know how to optimize water settings. Thks BTW It's for FE2

Questions for the "Battle of Caporetto" campaign
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I'm glad to hear it. Nice to know you guys like it so far. It is lacking in some respects, but I'm no programer and I dont even know what half of the stuff means. I'm limited in the aircraft and objects I can use too. But I got the ball rolling. As soon as a bunch off you get the campaign underway, I'll release an update version 2.0 including the German Jastas 1, 31, and 39. Also more FFA ground attack units and some Kagohl4 bombing units. I already did all the skins I could find. I'm trying to figure a way to get the Stratigic Nodes to work in the Vogesen terrain. The Allied (Italian) territory is so small it's hard to get the forces to move back and forth. Anyway, it's good to hear you guys like it so far. -
This is all I could muster up for the German Jastas in Italy from Sept 1917 till around Feb 1918. Not a whole lot of pics out there. The aces and rosters are available but no aircraft photos. This is it AFAIK. Jasta 1. - Albatros D.V_160 Ltn. Werner Dittmann - Comet Ltn. Secker - Checkered personal marking Jasta 31. - Albatros D.III_170 Ltn. Fritz Jacobsen - Blk and White diamond band Ltn. Richard Wenzl - White band w 2 blk stripes Ltn. Wolker - X Ostv. Schluckebier - Star and moon Jasta 39. - Albatros D.III OAW (colors may verywell be in red and white) Oblt. Josef Loeser - diagonal black stripes Ltn. August Raben - White fuse with Raven and blk rudder Unknown - Black and white vertical stripes with blk line lengthwise Unknown - Black fuse with thick white lengthwise stripe So thats about it. These are still a WIP. Need to add all the dirt and grime. I will be adding these to my "Battle of Caporetto" campaign. They will be in an "Upgrade" download. Takes way too long to edit and post the original.

I finally spent the woping $190.00 for a new graphics card. I had an intergrated Nvidia 9100. But now with my new GTX 460 with DirectX 11....HOLY COW! This sim just jumped to 11 for me. I'm sorry I didnt do it sooner. The bump mapping is incredible. The landscape detail goes as far as the eye can see. Everything looks so clear and bright. Truly amazing. Now if we could get the Bump mapping to work with third party models.

Oeffag D.III Ba.53, 153, 253 - WIP
quack74 replied to Jan Tuma's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I mentioned that to ***** over at Skunkworks (the D.III rudder as apposed to the D.V rounded rudder). I dont think he really wanted to mess with the mapping at all. Hey Jan....If only you started this a few months ago! I did sooo many skins for the skunkworks D.IIIOef. I like your idea better. If you can make a decent Oef model from the stock D.III, maybe I'll consider redoing my skins for the Battle of Caporetto campaign. I'm going to add more to it anyway. -
Shipping shouldn't be a problem
-
Just so you know, the thirdparty aircraft dont require any unpacking. Just copy the .LOD's and cockpit files directly from the aircraft folders. Only the stock Thirwire (FE2) aircraft need to be unpacked. You dont have to unpack the stock aircraft .LOD's or cockpit files.

Anyone know why a hand full of my effects mods from DX9 dont show after I've installed my new GFX card with DX11? And is there a way to convert them to be used with the new GFX card?

Good stuff MigBuster. I'll try it out. -
"Battle of Caporetto" front line action with new card. Awsome!

For those of you who dont have a DirectX 10 compatable vid card and cant see the "Bump mapping" that creates definition on model structures such as wing ribs and fuselage seems..... These are some pics of what I was missing out on. For those of you that already have this feature.. just give me my moment, this is exciting!
