Just a couple of pics of (possibly) Oblt. Josef Loeser's Albatros D.IIIOAW in Jasta39. Jasta 39 was one of three German fighter units to be sent to Italy to help the Austrian front. If you all find my campaign works well enough, I will add these German Jasta's ( 1, 31, 39 ) to the Caporetto campaign. It will be a simple download. This one took a while:blink: BTW it's very possible the colors were black and white and not red. But red does look good

Open the Options.ini in your Austria Italy install in the saved games section. Check to see if all the paths read Austria-Italy and not FE2. If they dont then try typing it in manually. Questions for the "Battle of Caporetto" campaign
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
SkyHigh, I think (from what I can remember with my Aust-Italy install) that you have to physically edit all the aircraft and ground objects. I had to delete almost all the aircraft I didnt want (that didnt play a part in Italy). I only kept and or added the aircraft used by Austria, Germany and Italy. That's also why I created new Hangar Screens and loading screens. Just delete all the aircraft and copy the new aircraft folder right into your new /Objects/Aircraft folder. Just remember to get all the .LOD and cockpit folders for the thirdparty models. I forgot about all that stuff. Sorry. All the stock aircraft will show in a new second install. It's an easy fix though. I told you it would be a liitle time consuming:grin: -
Questions for the "Battle of Caporetto" campaign
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Sky High, Hmmm. Not sure what's up with that. Just to be clear, In C: Program Files/ Thirdwire/ First Eagles 2/ , did you copy the "FirstEagles2.exe" and rename the copy "Austria-Italy", then send a shortcut of the new Austria-Italy.exe to your desktop, then run the new "Austria-Italy" install once? After you run the new install once then you should have a new aust-Italy target folder in: C: Users/ your name/ Saved Games/ Thirwire/ FirstEagles2 & Austria-Italy folders here. Do you not have this new Austria-Italy folder in this location? I dont really remember how my XP install looked when I first got FE2. But I would think the folder structures would have to be the same...no? -
Ok, I finally stopped messing with this campaign. I'm posting it tonight. There are a few issues that I know of that I'm still going to work on but for now it works just fine. It is in two downloads. Part 1 has ALL the major files needed. Part 2 has ONLY the ENEMY aircraft w/out the Decals folders. They are in Part1. I highly recommend to everyone to merge Part2 into Part1 after download. Just copy all the aircraft in the aircraft folder and past them into the Part1 aircraft folder. This is all set up for FE2. My folder structure in this download is set up like FE2. But.....everything should work with FEG too. Just have to move some files around. Anyway there are a bunch of readme files inside. I also highly recommend a new install called Austria-Italy (or something along those lines). And BACK UP ALL YOUR ORIGINAL STUFF. Please!. This will be a very involved install. Many, many files. But It almost creates a whole new sim. If you get it to work (I hope you all do) It is awsome to play. I'm going to create a thread for all "Battle of Caporetto" questions. I just know there will be a lot. I, and others I hope, will do my best to help you all install everything correctly. Use the new thread or PM me anytime. Lol....Good Luck

Posting the Battle of Caporetto campaign
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I know about Jasta 1, 31, and 39. I just wasnt sure how to add them in. The terrain is kind of small and there are already a lot of planes filling the skies. I was thinking of adding some German units and even a few of the FFA two seater units as well. But first I need to know if this campaign is working out ok. Pictures and profiles of Jasta units are very rare. I can only think of a couple of skins to make, which I'm making now btw. The problem with certain planes, like the Nieuport 17, by the end of 1917 the Italians didnt have a whole Squad equipt with the N17. Most were mixed batches of different models. You cant create a mixed flight in these campaigns. So I just left them out and used the later models like the N24 and N27. Also there are very few airfields for the Allied airunits to use. I was thinking of starting at an earlier date too. Like you said, one of the Isonzo battles. But I had to draw a line somewhere. It was a lot of work just trying to create this campaign. Thanks for the comments ojcar. -

I'm curious.....Has anyone played this campaign yet? I would like to know if it's working and if things need to be addressed. -
I'm just reminding all that you need Part2 of the Caporetto campaign. I see the download stats are not even close to what they should be. Part 1 = 104, and Part2 = 63. There seem to be a lot of you that dont have Part 2. It has ALL the ENEMY aircraft files.

would make for an easy campaign wouldnt it?

Downloads installation about "First Eagles 2"
quack74 replied to Ice Man's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
All the files from the Caporetto campaign go here C: Users/ your name/ Saved Games/ ThirdWire/ FirstEagles2/ ** here** you have to create all the new folders such as Campaigns, Effects, Sounds, etc, etc. Make it look like the folder structure from the Caporetto campaign download. You can just copy and paste the new folders from the download right into your Saved Games//FirstEagles2. -

Not a good sign. Is this the end of FE?? Where are all the new people? Dont they have questions? Or did everyone get ROF ICE?

Questions for the "Battle of Caporetto" campaign
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
If you already use FE2 with XP there is no reason the campaign wont work. All you really need is the correct aircraft. Hmmm. Double check and triple check all the files. Make sure they are all in the right place. It really takes one file to be missing or be in the wrong place for a campaign to crash.Dumb question, but do you have the Vogesen terrain installed? Something has to be out of place. -

Funny....the download for the campaign says Part1=80 and Part2=60 It should say Part1=80 and Part 2=80 I hope everyone knows Part2 is essential for the campaign to work. It has ALL the enemy aircraft files. -

Questions for the "Battle of Caporetto" campaign
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Well lets see.... As far as Strategic Nodes go, The front doesnt change on the map and there are much less allied (Italian) territory and even fewer airfields. The Campaign could be over in a few missions really. Also the real campaign ended in a stalemate. The Austrian Advance stalled. Then the Italians went on the offensive. So I placed all the ground action myself. There are ground objects scattered all over the front for you to target. So it's far from boring. There are plenty of ground attack missions in this campaign. I have no control over the types of weapons on the aircraft. They come with the 3D models. The AirUnits that are blank in the DATA.ini are aircraft I deleted. To remove the whole airUnit means I would have to renumber all the Units after that one, and then renumber the user aircraft in the Config.INI if any are affected. It's OK that it's blank. -
Questions for the "Battle of Caporetto" campaign
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Well I gigured It really didnt matter too much. If I made the Enemy AC named Austria, then I would have had to change the NATIONS.ini totally to get all the different decals to work. Having the AC National name as Gemany doesnt really seem to have any affect on the game play. I think. In short I really just didnt want to chane every file over to Austrian. -
Questions for the "Battle of Caporetto" campaign
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Before you install the campaign (or after, it doesnt really matter) add this new Battle of Caporetto config settings.INI to your campaign folder. Just overwrite the existing one. I just forgot to change the name of the campaign start screens for each nation. Now you'll get the correct screens instead of the stock FT-17 tanks and such. After looking at this campaign for a couple months my eyes seem to miss things. I'm sure there will be more. The main file is way too big to edit so I'll add updated files here in this thread. 1. File Name: "Battle of Caporetto" Ver 1.0 Part 1 File Submitter: quack74 File Submitted: 16 October 2010 File Category: First Eagles Missions and Campaigns This is ONLY Part 1 of the "Battle of Caporetto" Campaign, Version 1.0, made by quack74 Part2 is a necessary download for it carries ALL the ENEMY (Austrian) aircraft files This Campaign takes place in Northern Italy in the Fall of 1917. Austria vs Italy. All info is in the readme files The Vogesen terrain ( by Gepard ) is needed to run this campaign. I highly recommend Jan Tuma's visual upgrade pack as well. I would like to thank ***** and the skunworks A team for many of the WWI models I would like to thank sinbad for allowing me to repost some of his Hanriot HD-1 Italian skins I also would like to thank Gepard for the terrain and the help he gave me And thanks to JanTuma for the beautiful terrain upgrade. Thanks especially to all those guys that took the time to build all the aircraft and ground objects. Without them this campaign wouldnt have come to mind. Actually Laton's Austrian and Italian planes triggered it. They needed a place to fly. So thanks Laton. Enjoy, quack74 Click here to download this file- 1 reply

"Battle of Caporetto" Ver 1.0 Part 2

File Name: "Battle of Caporetto" Ver 1.0 Part 2 File Submitter: quack74 File Submitted: 16 October 2010 File Updated: 08 November 2010 File Category: First Eagles Missions and Campaigns This is Part2 of the "Battle of Caporetto" campaign, Version 1.0, done by quack74 Part2 contains all the ENEMY (Austrian and German) aircraft files. Except for the Decal folders. They are all in Part1 download. These files could not be included with Part1 only because of size. After dowloading both Part1 and Part2 you should merge the two together to keep it all organized before installing. It could be confusing if you dont. Just copy all the aircraft files in the /Objects/ Aircraft/ folder from Part2 and paste them into the / Objects/ Aircraft/ folder in Part1. It's that easy. Just to give everyone a heads up, My Italian front campaign "The Battle of Caporetto" is almost done. There wont be any "StratigicNodes" for ground forces only because the front on the map doesnt move. And there are limited airfields. So I placed many ground objects all around the map for you. All the infantry for both sides will be engaged at the front. But it's a very active campaign. Lots of bombers and fighters with custom skins. Dozens of them. It's quite awsome actually. All new Hangar Screens and Loading Screens for every usable aircraft. All new mission descriptions for every nationality and aircraft you choose. The campaign will start on October 24, 1917. If you live long enough, the RFC will join in around November 1, 1917 with Camel squadrons. If you live even longer, new heavy bombers will join the fight like the Gotha GIV in early December. If you use Jan Tuma's terrain upgrade, the seasonal changes are beautiful. I highly recommend it. I'm going to include my mix of effects and sky mods for you. You dont have to use them ofcourse. You will need to install my new "NATIONS.INI" into your Flight folder. It doesnt change much of the stock markings but it will create the new crosses without the white boarders for the Austrian aircraft and new Italian markings aswell. I'll include all the INSIGNIA, FUSE, and TAIL decals that are needed. I'll pretty much give you all you'll need accept for the aircraft .LOD files. These I cant repost. You'll need to obtain the originals from the proper sites. I've included a readme on the matter. But most aircraft folders will have most of the needed files. Hope you all enjoy it. I personally love playing it. It creates a whole new front of WWI that no sim has done yet that I know of. It just will be a little tricky for some I think to install. But thats what this forum and PM's are for right? I'll be glad to help. Now I need a couple of Guinea pigs to try it out:blink: Any takers?

Well I've pretty much done all I could with this campaign. I think I'm just going to post it and suffer the consequences later:grin: . This forum will blow up from all the questions I'm sure. Well I'll do my best to get it to work for everyone. I'll post it this weekend.

Good stuff sinbad! The more skins the better. They look great. Hey... build an Aviatik D.I already. Fabulous campaign, I'm blushing.
