  1. Pfalz D.III's of Jasta4

:good:I THINK I GOT IT! I found a way to get different markings to show for different planes with the same nationality. It's kind of long. Not a simple fix really. But it works. This is really just to create the Pfalz types without the white borders on the Iron Crosses. All the other normal markings will still appear at the right dates. I created a new nation in the Nations.ini in the Flight folder (after unpacking) and named it "Germany_Pfalz". Then created all the new decals needed and put them into the "Decals" folder. Then I created a "Nations" main folder in the: /Saved Games/ ThirdWire/ FirstEagles2/ Nations. Then I dropped in the new Nations.ini. (This is the only way the game will read any changes to the Nations.ini file). Then I needed to add the lines - NationsDirectory=Nations - to the AIRCRAFTOBJECT.ini in the Flight folder (after unpacking too). This way the game will know to look in the new Nations folder I added to find the "Nations.ini" that I altered. Lastly I needed to go into the PfalzD3 and D3a's aircraft folders and change all the national names whereever they may be. DATA.ini's, TextureSets, etc etc. Now at the selection screen for single missions you'll see the new German Nation (I think I named it "Pfalz German Air Services" for now". But when I select the PfalzD's as my aircraft, the new National name appears automatically because it's in the DATA.ini and the TextureSets. I dont know if this makes any sense any of you guys. It's really confusing to write even. But Trust Me, it works. I have to work on the new decals a bit and write up a readme that makes sense. I have to remember what I did step by step When its all done all you guys should have to do is copy and paste really. I think. Should be easy to install. BTW, I created another Nation called "German Air Service Bombers" just for the Stakkens. They're so big you cant use the same formation.ini set up as the GothGIV's. So I created a new bomber formation for the new "German Air Service Bombers" and renamed the Staaken's nation to Germany_Bombers. So there is a fix for the Staaken's formation spacing too if anyone cared. I'll post it with the National markings download when it's done. This is very confusing I know. But it's worth it. I think I have too much time on my hands . I think I was supposed to do the dishes today and cut the lawn:blink:
  2. These are some early Jasta 27 D.III's under the command of Ltn Hermann Goring sometime around Spring and Summer of 1917. There will be some D.V's to add to the mix. It's a WIP for now. I have to change the fuselage numbers a bit and do the D.V version.
  3. Flight Formations

    It is tempting
  4. Flight Formations

This has been a problem since 2006. It drives me crazy that the formation take for ever to form up after take off. And they zig-zag all over when they do. There's a way to settle the formations down a bit. But right now off the top of my head I cant remember how.
  5. What I did for my Two-Seaters is I created a new "Aircraft" all together using different skins. Ex: I took the Hannover folder (by Laton) and copied it. Renamed it. Then renamed the ConfigSettings.ini and the DATA.ini inside the new folder. Then made a different skin the default TextureSet. Presto! I now have two different Hannover aircraft. If you do this to enough Two-Seaters you'll even out that ratio of fighters and two-seaters.
  6. Skins, question for Quack74

Well, I just copied all my D.V skins from FEG into FE2 and added Peter01's FM's. So I have a D.V folder named AlbatrosD5(160). It really doesnt matter which D.V folder you put the skins into. Just as long as the decal paths inside the "Decal.ini " for each skin are renamed (ex:)"AlbatrosD5(170) or (180)/Jasta56/D/Fuse. There is no way of knowing who had what model engine in their D.V or D.Va. So put them where you like. I think ThirdWire added all these models to make it look like there are more planes available in FE2. But that's just me. BTW, as of now you cant alter the stock aircraft "ConfigSettings.ini" files so you wont be able to make your own default skins. So you're better off creating a new AlbatrosDV folder and puting the new skins in there. This way you can alter anything you want. Just dont forget to add the "Decal.ini" and the "TextureSet.ini" for each skin. This is just an idea. you dont have to do it this way.
  7. No.60 Squadron - Summer 1917

You read my mind Heck. I was going to ask if someone could do a earlier DATA.INI to make an SE5. I'm also doing the Sept '17 SE5's of No.56 Sqn. The handful of chaps that had it out with Voss. They had dumbell markings on the rear fuselage. I've been doing my research on the No56 aircraft of that Sept. 23 historic encounter. I'm also recreating that last mission as a "Single Mission" . Southside Bucky posted this mission a while back. It's in the download section. So You'll be able to have all the historically accurate aircraft that were directly involved. With Bucky's permission I would just alter his mission file to include these skins. Including Voss's triplane.
  8. I'm trying to do this one finally. PITA!. It's almost imposible to get the diamonds to wrap around the fuselage. So much distortion at the top and bottom of the fuselage. But... It will drive me crazy if I dont try and get it right. So here are some pics of Ltn. Wolff's D.V of Jasta 5. I think this is the plane sirafe was asking about. This is a WIP. So it still has distortion on the upper and lower fuselage. But when it's done it will work great with Saltfiskur's Jasta5 Albatros skins. What ever happened to that guy???
  9. All from a my 1918 campaign: I'll tell ya those troops are an awsome ground object. There is just as much going on on the ground as in the air sometimes.
  10. My power went out today just as I finished uploading my Bristol Scout package. Can some just let me know it turned out ok?
  11. Decals not showing up.

The original Pfalz D.III skins from Skunkworks dont have a Decal structure that work like the stock FE aircraft. open any of the original Skunkworks Pfalz D.III skins' Decals.ini files and you'll see a line for each mesh that says Blue Max / D/ Tcross or something like that. Now you have to include the aircraft's full name first like this PfalzD3/ Blue Max/ D/ TCross. But also for FE2 the decal folder "D" that contains the decals has to be placed into a separate location in the the , Example, C/Users/ name/Saved Games/ThirdWire/ FirstEagles/Objects/ Decals/ PfalzD3/BlueMax/ D In the "Objects" folder creat a "Decals" folder. Place all your aircraft name folders in here with ONLY their "D" folders. try this.
  12. A Question for Quack

If thats the skin you're refering to, I didnt do that one. The old Pfalz files dont work with FE2 or even FEG w the latest patches as they are originally written. The decals for the old (original skunkworks) dont have proper decal .ini's created. If you like the "Blue Max" skin you could just copy a Decal.ini from my "Silver Grey" Pfalz DIII and rename the "D" location in the decal.ini file to: PfalzD3/Blue Max (not Silver Grey) / D/ (decal name). Try this it might work if you understand what I just wrote here. Open A decal .ini file and press Cntrl-H. it will open a window to make quick changes in notepad form. Was the "Blue Max" version the only one you've had problems with?? or all the original Pfalz skins from Skunkworks for that matter?
  13. Thanks to christian59 for changing the guns on the Pfalz D.III. Ofcourse I couldn't leave it at that . I had to paint on the gun ports and change the flash position. The only problem is it has to be done with every skin I made (just the painted on gun ports) The rest was done in the DATA.ini. I'll touch up a few skins that I know were D.III's and not D.IIIa's. And then I'll update the Pfalz download files as I go. Oh, I also changed the serial number font. I'll repost the stock Pfalz D.III skin (silver-grey), the edited DATA.ini to go with it, and the new serial # decals so anyone who wants a real Pfalz D.III can use it.

  16. Weapons Folder or Equivalent in FE2?

Drop (or create) the weapons folder into the "Objects" folder for FE2. In case you havnt, download Peter01's flight models and games files from the FE download section. Under "Add-on aircraft"/ Flight Models There is a bunch of game files and all the updated flight models for FE2 that are a must have. IMO
  17. It's well worth it. There are a bunch of WWI models there. And here at CA there are new flight models for each of those planes along with a hand full of different skins.
  18. They all work for me in FE2. I just transfered my old campaigns from FEG to FE2. You just need to create a "Campaigns" folder in: c:/ Users/ (name)/ SavedGames/ ThirdWire/ FirstEagles2/ Campaigns. Just drop any campaign into the new "Campaigns" folder I Think that's all I had to do. Hope that helps.
  19. I finished my overhaul of the Jasta16b Pfalz D.IIIa Ace skins. They are now in the download section. They are in the older Jasta16b Pfalz download section. Just updated. One new one inside too.
  20. Try to delete the your original Jasta16b skin files. Then install the new skins. Maybe all the new files are gettings mixed up with the old files. Is your FE1 updated to the latest FE1 patch?? Maybe you need to create the [TextureSets] in the PfalzD3a's "ConfigurationSettings.ini" file. If you have the latest FE1 patch (Nov'08 I think) You dont need to create them. The game does it for you. But if you have an older version you need to creat all the new TextureSets for each skin. Maybe this is the problem?
  21. I need to check the download and make sure I made the files correctly. Make sure the Skin folders go right into the / First Eagles/ Objects/ Aircraft/ PfalzD3a/ folder. Also make sure the "D" (Decal) folders are with each skin folder.
  22. My reworked Hohn D.III and his D.IIIa. I'll post these tonight or tomorrow morning. They be in the J21 Hohn download as an update. But they're all new really. I dont want to post too many of the same planes in the download section. So I'm going to update my old stuff. D.III D.IIIa
  23. They're in the download section now. They will be under the old Hohn file as "Updated"
