Stock terrains update and new effects pack
quack74 replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Thanks for the nice reply there Stary. I thought you or someone else would chew me out. I did see that stuff in the readme. I'm going to try it out. I would like to keep all of your terrain work. I was going to work on the trees myself. But I'll give your other settings a go first. -
Stock terrains update and new effects pack
quack74 replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I dont think I'm getting that blue-green smoke problem with this terrain download. I'll have to check. Very cool seasonal transitions though I must say The terrain its self is amazing. The fields, rivers and roads look incredible! But I'm going to have to be a d--k here and comment on the trees. They seem to be too dark and thick (to me). They appear to be like a watercolor painting. The edges of the trees are very thick and sharp. I feel like a big d--k for saying this I know how hard you worked on it, but I've been changing the trees back to the originals. I'm keeping all the terrain and seasons. Just changing back to the stock tree appearance. I know it would take a long time to fix the trees to make them more realistic, there are soo many tree files. Maybe try making the trees less thick, maybe more transparent? I dont know. Sorry for the comment. I love the rest of it though. -
That's the best First Eagles movie I have ever seen thats for sure! Good job. You should make more using different "Ace" skins.

File Name: Naval 9 Camels 6-Pack File Submitter: quack74 File Submitted: 26 Aug 2009 File Category: Sopwith Skins This is a 6-pack of Naval 9 Sopwith Camels. They are for the CamelF1-130. The Pilots are unknown. (To me anyway) They served 9RNAS in Northern France from late 1917 to early 1918. Each skin is named for the shape on the rear fuselage or upper wing. There are two generic versions of Naval 9 Camels included. I'm sure there werent only 4 Naval 9 Camels. So here are two more to add to the flight. 1. Naval 9 Circles 2. Naval 9 Diamonds 3. Naval 9 X 4. Naval 9 Triangle 5. Naval 9 Stock Blue (blue cowling) ---- generic 6. Naval 9 Stock --- generic Enjoy, quack74 Click here to download this file

Here's a few pics of one of the Naval 9 Sopwith Camels I've been working on. There are only 4 that there are pictures of (I think). I'm doing all 4 and I'll add some generic Camels to go along. Blue noses, wheel discs, tails, what ever. Mix'em up. If anyone has any info or pics of any Naval 9 Camels, hook me up. Pics that arent readily available on the internet that is. I dont have any Camel books yet. The Roundels are a bit dark for this skin. I might paint them on to get the right effect and color. I could add some weathering that way. Southside bucky asked me to do these months ago. I finally got to them. Next will be a whole bunch of Jasta 5 Albatros D.III's, D.V's and D.Va's. I love their colors and markings . Some will be pretty hard thats for sure. Some were done a couple of years agoby other people. I would like to redo them as well so all colors will look alike. Just waiting for my Jasta 5 books

The Naval 9 Camels are now in the Download section. I added 2 more to the original 4 that carry the same general markins. One has an aluminum cowel and the other a blue. Just to add to flight. I'm sure that Naval 9 had more than 4 colorful Camels. Hope everyone enjoys'em. these are the other 2.

Some Ground Effects Ideas for F.E.
quack74 replied to sockboy's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
A nice sound effect for burning planes would be pretty cool -
I think I get the same jagged ground shadow or haze. My weather was set to "scattered". I use Polaks skymod V1.0 but use the stock "Environment Settings" file. I did change the sun light factor a bit in the Environment Settings file because the terrain was way too dark. But by doing this I messed up the smoke effects colors. Thats why I was and still am getting the blue smoke. Also it made the crashed aircraft smoke effect by Laton turn grey. Fixing one thing, messes up another . Oh well Anyway check the pic below. I dont know what causes this.

Got it Thanks.

Before I release these Naval 9 skins, can someone confirm for me if I should use the 110 or 130 Camels. I know these markings were used in late 1917 to early 1918. Not sure when the 130 came into play. Also the Camel with the circles might have a little problem with the fuselage circle. At the point where the side fuselage meets the turtle deck just aft of the brown wood, the model seems to overlap a bit at the corners (right where the template gets spliced) . It can be seen in the below photos on the forward circle where the side fuselage meets the curved upper decking. It's really not that noticable, but it's driving me nuts . If it's cool with everyone else, I think I'll leave it. It's seems to be a distortion point on the template. Too hard to fix. I should say too time consuming

All planes made for First Eagles have AI capabilities. Bombers and fighters. Not sure what you mean.
-
I cant say what effects I've changed that created this smoke problem. I've done a few. But I'm getting some blue smoke for the large fire or explosion effect I think. Have a look at the photo. Maybe one of you guys would know what to do with this. Thanks. By the way, the DH4 AI is pretty good with ground attacks. The airfield in the photo was just attacked by my Flight of DH4's.
-
Here they are. All four. Just need to tweak them a little bit more. I'll post them very soon. Glad you all like'em.
-
Here is another one. Only one more to do. The Roundels will be touched up when all four planes are done.

Realistic Sky Mod First Eagles
quack74 replied to Panama Red's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Excellent Panama Red . Finally no more blue band around the horizon It all looks great A must have mod  -
Here is another. Still might have to paint on the insignia's though. Not as transparent as I would like. I did lighten up the blue a bit on the Roundels and tail. All the colors will be touched up when they're all done. Shades of blue are still a little off. Here are some pics.

I'm not sure if this is from Peter01's flight models or from the A-Teams original flight models. I'll ask here first because I'm using Pete01's flight models. The elevators on the F2B dont move and the Gun hammers on the Pup only move when the elevator controls move up or down. Not when the gun fires. I just dont know what "animation numbers" to use. If thats the problem

Very cool of you Panama Red You are now my FE ground crew

Are the Bomber Formations at take-off now different than the Fight Formations at take-off? Do the "airfield.ini" recognize "bombers" and "fighters" seperately? By the way Peter01

The DH-4 has been released. This is the completed version. You need to go to the A-Team Skunkworks site to download the final version. Follow the link below. And you will need a password to download the DH-4 or any of the A-Teams aircraft. http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/Skunworks1.html
