The elevator problem that I'm getting isn't because of the DH-4 being a bomber or being heavy. It really is a small glitch. When I have full up elevator, at any speed, the DH-4 straightens out. In a steep bank the DH-4 turns well with a little rudder. But if I pull up too hard on the elevator I get no response and the plane just shoot off in what ever heading the elevator stoped working at. I'm only complaining about this so much because I cant pull up if I'm too close to the ground. And I cant get away from fighters. I cant bank away. If I let up a bit on the elevator, about 3/4 up, then it grabs again. It's just too tricky. Something is not right.

Seems to be pretty good Panama Red . I still have to disable the DH-4 cockpit because of the overlap with the DH-2 one. How do you get rid of the DH-2 cockpit?????. Also the full up elevator still needs some tuning. Full up still has no response for me. Like I said in my last post above, 3/4's to full up seems to have no or very little response. At all speeds. All other ranges seem to work well. But the different flight models you've done work great. I like having the different models for different dates

That happened to me too

The only problem with messing with the color range is you have to change it a little then run the game fly to something and bomb it. If it's not right you have to exit out, open the data file in effects folder, make small changes the try it all over again. SOOO time consuming . But I guess thats what has to be done . I really dont know much about editing things like this. So it takes even more time. If I'm not doing any skins I'm adding effects and things. It's hard to just sit down and play . The info You gave in the last thread will help though. Thanks again

Thats what I'll do. Thanks for trying to help

I had the prop showing the whole time I've had the DH-4. Just when I messed with the new Data file from Panama Red it disappeared. I dont know what happened. Even when I go back to Peter01's FM it stilll doesnt show.

I changed mine as well. Fix something then it messes up something else .

The cockpit that I use is the stock one. The one with the smaller windscreen and green coping all around. A lot of bright wood. The DH-2 one I guess. The cockpit that appears when I use Panama Reds new Data file uses the cockpit that comes with the DH-4's cockpit folder. I'm not sure how this stuff works. How is the Stock cockpit a DH-2 cockpit? How do I get the DH-4 cockpit to show up on it's own without overlaping the DH-2 one? Not sure what I did wrong. Also, while messing with the new data file I seemed to have lost my Fast Prop. It's there at start up and as it spins slow prop is there then it disappears. Internal and external views. Any Ideas? The hub is there just no blades.

I just tried the new DATA file for the DH-4 by Panama Red. Great job on the speed adjustments . But I noticed now that if you give full throttle on take-off your tail will rise up too far and your prop will hit the ground. Boom!. I compensated with up elevator the second time. If thats accurate then fine. But just to let everyone know. Also the ailerons are still reversed. You need to add these lines for all four ailerons in the data file: "ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE". for now only two ailerons have this. You have to do all four. And I still get the elevator effect at ALL speeds. Very responsive up till about 3/4 up. Then past that, full up, it is unresponsive. Seems to have no or little control. Flattenes out. Full up elevator does nothing . Oh! Did someone add a different cockpit??? Now I get two windscreens and an overlapping green coping around the stock brown coping. I liked the original better. Two windscreens make forward vision slightly impaired. Anyone know who changed this? Anyway, Panama Red, great work witht the different FM's. edit: Also I've noticed the bullets and tracers are well below the cross-hairs

Those gunners really lock on to you and let you have it. A little too much I agree. But If you use some tactics you can survive an attack on a two seater. Maybe even two. As Tailspin said, get under them at about six o'clock or dive on them from above. Remember the two seaters were just as fast as the fighters. Some faster. So you really only can get one or two passes before they get away from you. I think the guns of my own aircraft should be a bit more potent. Even with a good bead on a plane it still takes half my ammo.(sometimes). But as I was saying, attacking two-seaters was a dangerous business. Many aces fell to two-seaters. So I think it's not all that inaccurate.

Bucky, did it really improve your frame rates changing the skin size? I'm having the same problem with the DH-4.

Here are the two versions of Ernst Udets Fokker Dr.1's. Originaly belonging to Hans Kirchstein of Jasta 6, 586/17 was handed down to Ltn. Ernst Udet of Jasta 4. It has been argued that Udet this Dr.1 was painted over in red and light blue while with Jasta 4. Some say it remaind black and white. You can decide for your self. Thats why I made two  . And also I included a generic Jasta 4 Fokker Dr.1. Said to have a light blue cowel, wheels and struts. The blue matches Udets red and blue Dr.1. Hope it's close. . They will be available when approved. Enjoy.

If I add up elevator slowly it seems ok and responsive. But when I give full up it loses function. The elevators show full up but they dont have any effect on the planes pitch. The plane will actually straighten out. It's not stalling. It happens even when the airspeed is high. It will do it in a steep bank. It cant just be me

Ernst Udet's Fokker Dr.1 for download

Yeah I learned that after I did the skin. Also I've come to my own conclusion that Mohnicke's Dr.1 most likely looked like the below photos. It seems to appear this way, in Fokker Dr.1 Aces of WWI by Osprey, on page 27. It's a line up photo at Lechelle in late march. I've also seen a artist's rendering of this color scheme as well. I cant remember who, but it was a painting of a Jasta 11 line up. I'm sure someone is going to dispute me on this  . Well I'll post this one so there will be both. -
If anyone knows a fix for the elevators that would be great

It's my pleasure  . I enjoy doing it. It's my only hobbie these days . It's nice to know other people are enjoying them as well -

I've been working on some skins, decals and serial numbers for the DH4 from A-Team. Thanks to Capun1950 for helping fix some problems with the shadows and guns. The flight model for now, thanks to peter01, is usable. A little rough still but usable. I even created some "Holes" .tga files for the damaged model. For now I did No.49 Sq and No.18 Sqn. Still need to do the rudder serial numbers. The DH4 is still just a beta release. So it is what it is for now. A-Team will release the new package soon. I think . Here are some pics: No.49 Squadron, 1917 No. 18 Squadron, 1917 And a damaged model Any input welcomed

In a couple of days I should have all 8 of my DH-4 skins posted. Just wanted to wait for the A-Team release first and make sure everything was cool. There was a problem with the ailerons being reversed using Peter01's flight model. I had to fix mine. I'm not sure but I think it was fixed in the new package. It's an easy fix for anyone who needs it. The elevators are still a bit tricky. When Peter01 gets the chance I'm sure he'll fix it. But it does work and looks pretty good.
