The Jasta 15 DVII's is a winner
-
Version
133 downloads
This is Pfalz DIII 4011/17 and D.IIIa 8009/17 of Jasta 21s, France 1917-1918. The Pilot is Ltn. d R Fritz Hohn. Hohn was an ace at balloon busting and aerial combat with a total of 21. These are the color schemes of his first DIII with Jasta 21s and his later Pfalz D.IIIa. Most of his kills were made in his D.IIIa and later his FokkerD.VII. Enjoy, quack74 -
Here's a good one for those armed ballons! Took a long time on this one, but it payed off This skin is of Ltn Fritz Hohn. A balloon buster in 1918. This is the color scheme of his Pfalz DIII. I'll post this in the dowload section now. P.S. Get those armed balloons working! Great addition to the game.

Persistant smoke from downed aircraft

Laton, could you tone down the brownish color in the base of the smoke plume? As you can see from the above screenshots the plumes look too yellow from a distance. Maybe just dont make the yellow-brown color rise up so high. Just my opinion. Dont want to sound pushy. I would do it myself but I have no idea what any of that stuff means in the files -

Persistant smoke from downed aircraft
quack74 replied to Laton's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Could these smoke files some how be created as a ground object?? To be used in mission building. Or even "Types" in terrain object files. The plumes could be created in different sizes or even colors. They could be placed around the front lines to show a somewhat battle scene. They could be added in say a truck file or AAA file that is already destroyed at the start of a mission. It would be a cool sight to see the smoke plumes on the horizon when approaching the fron lines "No Mans Land" Thks Laton. These FX's are awsome . I didnt get any floating plumes in the sky yet. They seem to blow with the wind. Hmmm -

Opened a can of worms with that one . Just playing around. If you can figure a way to correct that minor problem, this would be an awsome addition. It always seems to work that way doesnt it? You fix one thing but it affects another. Glad someone started to tackle this though. Very needed effect. How the hell do you find time for this by the way??? Aren't you supposed to be building a plane? -
would be nice to do a little on-line

2 WIPs Voisin and L30 (large image alert)
quack74 replied to p10ppy's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
No input from p10ppy yet . Maybe he's not around this forum that much these days . Too bad that Zepp would be a great addition now that we have a bunch of earlier planes to use. -
Anyone know of a good source of Jasta Boelcke Albatros DIII's other than the Osprey books? I've done about seven skins of DIII's so far. All from the Osprey books. I would like to know if there are other pics, color profiles, or flightline pics out there that I could use. I would like to get as many as possible. I'm doing Jasta B DV's next. So I guess pics for them as well. I cant really afford to keep buying books just to do skins . There's too many So if anyone could or would shoot me some pics or web sites, that would be great

Yeah I did that one, but I made it Ltn. Prien's version with the added circles. Thanks bucky . I managed to get 8 DIII's. Thats good enough I think. Considering thats all there is I'll post them today. Ltn. Noth's green DIII's turtle deck might be a little messy with the dots. It gets a little too distorted around the sides.

Here's what I got so far. I would like to get them all in one download to make it easier. So they dont take up so much space in the download section. I dont like how it's not catagorized. Too much searching. Anyway these are some Albatros DIII's of Jasta Boelcke that I've done so far: I'll add their names in the readme when I post them. I would like a few more if possible.

Just checking to see if there was a problem w the new Naval 1 Triplane download. I edited it this morning and it is yet to be approved . I only ask because it usually doesnt take this long. Someone let me know if there is a problem. Unless nobody has gotten to it yet. In that case sorry for being a pest

Is there a problem w Naval 1 download?
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Was supposed to go on a motorcycle ride today here in southern New York. But the weather was so nice I had to cut my grass and the neighbors too . At least I was outside . Technically I did go riding, on a mower . -

It went through. Thanks -
Bucky if you didnt say anything I probably would have left them that way It's a good thing you did because now they look better and I was able to fix up some of the other ones too Criticism is a good thing . I'm just about out of Trips, Fokkers and Sopwiths. I guess I still can do Jacobs other two from Jasta7 and Pippart's from Jasta 13. I still would like to try a generic Jasta 4. Trying to get the light blue just right. But I have yet to see any personaly marked ones. Same goes for Jasta 5 Dr.1's. I know some of them were hand me downs from Jasta's 6 and 11. So some would have a black cowel and an overpainted green tail and the ones from Jasta 11 would have red cowels, wheels discs and struts with an overpainted green tail. Could do two versions. I'll make the green match that of the Jasta 5 Alb DV's like I did for Josef Mai's Dr.1. I guess I'm going to do some Albatri and more Pfalz's next. I need to fix and add to the Pfalz DIII's I've done anyway.

I did a decal rework of quack74's versions of the Naval 1 Sopwith Triplanes. I first used the game generated white #'s to make it easy for me . But they look too fancy. So I took some time to make them a little more accurate. While I was at it I moved the two white fuselage stripes forward a bit too. Included in this download are the new decal folders "D" and the fixed decal config files plus fixed fuselage skin files. All of the originals are in the CombatAce download section. This is Just a patch for those who already have the Triplane. Below are the Naval 1 Tripes I've fixed. 1. Naval 1 (olive cowel and fin) 2. Naval 1 White (white wheel discs and fin) 3. 1RNAS 1 (red wheel discs, red fin,and #1) 4. 1RNAS 4 (red wheel discs, red fin,and #4) 5. 1RNAS White (thick white fuse bands and blue tail w "F") 6. 1RNAS "PEGGY"( white wheel discs and fin w #15 and "Peggy"on fuse) Install the new Skin and decal folders over your existing skin folders and allow it to overwrite. Just go to the download section and redownload the "Naval 1 Triplane". I edited that download.

File Name: Hansa-PhonixKD1 Flik 16 File Submitter: quack74 File Submitted: 26 May 2009 File Category: WW1 Aircraft This download will create the Hansa-PhonixKD1's Flik16. The # decals are randomly selected. The download includes a new "LOD" file which must be installed to get the decals to work correctly. Thanks to Laton (creator of the Hansa-Phonix model). I recommend using the Vogesen terrain for the Austrian and Italian aircraft. Because of the mountainous terrain, it's the most accurate. Enjoy, quack74 Click here to download this file

I've tried to upload some screen shots for some plane I have questions for. But I get an error message saying the files are too big. They're just screen shots from the game, the same ones I've always used. Has something been change???

Not a flight model question but what can be done about the shadows of the Gotha?
